Chapter 88
“I… I’ll kill you!”
Gu Rou had gone mad. Knife in hand, she lunged at An Le.
Before An Le came along, the person she most wanted to kill was Lu Heng. Now, unable to kill Lu Heng, she could only target the more vulnerable An Le.
Terrified, An Le fled into the kitchen, quickly sliding the door shut and locking it, trapping Gu Rou outside.
Gu Rou frantically beat against the glass door, ramming her body against it and smashing it with the fruit knife, trying to break it down and drag An Le out.
An Le had never been in a fight and didn’t know how to fight, especially against someone wielding a weapon. He was weak and scared, and could only hide.
But Gu Rou seemed so frenzied, the door seemed like it wouldn’t hold. He wanted to call Lu Heng, but his phone wasn’t within reach.
An Le felt he might actually die at Gu Rou’s hands today. Even if he didn’t die, he would probably be injured.
An Le thought for a moment, tremblingly picked up a kitchen knife from the kitchen, and stood by the door, saying, “Stop banging! If you keep doing this, I’ll open the door. My knife is bigger than yours. Let’s see who dies first.”
Gu Rou looked at the large kitchen knife in An Le’s hand, hesitated for a moment, then laughed even more wildly, “Die then, die! Even in death, taking you down with me is worth it. I just want to make him suffer. If you die, no one will take care of him during his heat cycle. Sooner or later he’ll go mad and die!”
“Come out! Open the door! Come on, open the door!”
An Le closed his eyes in despair. Gu Rou was truly insane. She wasn’t afraid of death; she only wanted to cause trouble for Lu Heng, and An Le was the person best suited to provoke him.
Gu Rou hadn’t always been this crazy. Even though she hated Lu Heng and wanted him dead, she could still live a relatively peaceful life.
But Gu Chen’s death had severely impacted her. She felt that Lu Heng wasn’t human, that he was a butcher, a murderer. As long as Lu Heng was alive, her loved ones would die one by one.
Just like her youngest son, Lu Yuan, who died!
“No, I won’t open it!”
An Le took a deep breath. He really didn’t know what to do when faced with a madman.
In the kitchen, the only things that could be used for self-defense were the kitchen knife and a spatula.
And even with the kitchen knife in his hand, if he went out to fight Gu Rou, he didn’t want to injure her.
After some hesitation, he replaced the knife with a spatula and found a relatively large pot lid. Holding the lid in his left hand and a long spatula in his right, he stood there waiting. Once the glass door shattered, he would use the lid as a shield and knock the knife out of Gu Rou’s hand with the spatula.
Although he had a plan, An Le was still extremely nervous; both his hands were trembling.
An Le waited for a while, but Gu Rou didn’t manage to break down the glass door. He realized he’d overestimated an Omega’s strength.
Moreover, Gu Rou was not only an Omega but also a female Omega, her strength was even less than his. Breaking this glass door was impossible.
An Le finally relaxed. Now he just had to wait for Gu Rou to tire herself out, and the matter would be over.
But just as he breathed a sigh of relief, he saw Lu Heng rushing in from outside, shouting angrily as he walked, “What are you doing here again?!”
Hearing the angry shout, Gu Rou didn’t show any fear, instead, she became even more excited. She turned around and stabbed at Lu Heng with the knife.
Lu Heng didn’t dodge. He grabbed the fruit knife, snatched it away, and threw it violently to the ground. Then, with blood all over his hands, he dragged Gu Rou towards the door.
Gu Rou, without her weapon, kept hitting Lu Heng with her hands, cursing as she did so: “You beast! You killed your brother, you killed your uncle, and now you want to kill me too?!”
“I’m your mother! Are you even human? Let me go! Let me go!”
“You little beast! You’re protecting that little slut. Because of him, you killed your uncle, right?!”
“Little beast…”
“Get out!”
Before Gu Rou could finish speaking, Lu Heng threw her out and shouted “Get out!” before slamming the door shut.
He was about to turn around to see if An Le was injured when he saw An Le running towards him, eyes red and tears streaming down his face. Before he could speak, his right hand was gently taken by An Le. “Sir, you’re injured.”
Lu Heng froze, speechless.
The moment An Le saw Lu Heng grab the knife with his bare hands, his heart ached so much he could barely breathe. “The wound is so deep, sir, let’s go to the hospital.”
“No need.”
Lu Heng listened to the loud noises outside. He shook his head. “It’s just a small wound. I can bandage it at home. No need to go to the hospital.”
An Le also knew that it wasn’t a good time to go out, but no matter what, Lu Heng’s wound needed to be treated, so he immediately ran to the room to find the first-aid kit.
Lu Heng watched An Le’s busy back and suddenly laughed.
He had originally been going to work, but on his way, he suddenly wanted to see what An Le was doing at home, whether he was still upset about Gu Chen.
As soon as he opened the monitor, he saw Gu Rou frantically banging on the kitchen’s glass door, while An Le hid inside, terrified and helpless.
Then he immediately turned around and rushed home, also reporting it to the police on the way.
Thinking of this, the noise outside had stopped.
Two police officers were grabbing Gu Rou’s arms and dragging her into the elevator: “Mrs. Lu, please come with us. Don’t make things difficult for us.”
The police officers spoke politely, but their actions were forceful, giving Gu Rou no chance to refuse.
Gu Rou was dragged away, shouting frantically, “Let go! Let go! Let go! I’m going to kill him! I’m going to kill that little beast! Let me go…”
—
An Le found the first-aid kit and knelt in front of Lu Heng, gently cleaning his wound and applying medicine.
“Sir.”
An Le carefully applied the medicine and bandaged it, then said with concern, “Your mother… why… why is she like this?”
Gu Rou seemed mentally unstable. Lu Heng said that the Gu family were all crazy, so maybe the Gu family had a history of hereditary mental illness?
Lu Heng: “I don’t know either.”
Lu Heng thought for a moment before saying, “When I was a child, she was very good to me. She would smile at me, make delicious food for me, and she was very gentle. There was nothing wrong. Even when she was most angry, she would only lose her temper a little, which was quite common.”
“Later, I had a younger brother, and she became even gentler. She was good to both me and my brother. She never favored one over the other, and she never showed partiality.”
Lu Heng thought for a moment and said, “But then my brother died, and she went mad. She became the way you see her now.”
An Le was stunned. He carefully tied Lu Heng’s bandage, then tentatively asked, “Then… how did your brother die?”
He had secretly overheard rumors in the company before, and Gu Chen had vaguely mentioned something about family reputation, and Lu Chuan, Gu Rou… there were many things he didn’t know.
Hearing this question, Lu Heng looked down at An Le, took An Le’s shoulders with his left hand, lifted him up, hugged him, and whispered, “I killed him. Do you believe me?”
“No!”
To Lu Heng’s words, An Le answered quickly and firmly, “I don’t believe it. Sir is not that kind of person.”
“Why not?”
Lu Heng smiled, “Before my brother was born, I was the only heir to the Lu family. Everything in the Lu family would eventually become mine, but with my brother, that wasn’t certain.”
Lu Heng said word by word, “If I wanted to get the Lu family, he had to die.”
“That’s not true!”
An Le said anxiously, “Sir, I heard your conversation with your father before. It wasn’t like that at all. You got all those things through your own efforts, not because he gave them to you. You didn’t need to fight anyone for them; you could have gotten them yourself.”
An Le knew these were just speculations from outsiders about Lu Heng’s brother’s death. They believed it fit the situation, so they decided it was the truth.
An Le, holding back tears, said with heartache, “They wronged you!”
Hearing this, Lu Heng burst out laughing. An Le looked at Lu Heng with tears streaming down his face, but was suddenly pulled down by the back of his head and kissed by Lu Heng.
Lu Heng’s kiss was unusually fierce yet extremely tender, carrying unexpressed emotions, and gentle affection.
An Le was stunned by the kiss. When Lu Heng let go, he was still slightly dazed.
“I didn’t kill him.”
An Le heard Lu Heng say, “I liked my brother too. He was an Omega, very cute, and he posed no threat to me. I had no reason to kill him. And even if he had been an alpha, there was no need.”
He could get what he wanted himself; he didn’t need anyone else to give it to him.
Therefore, whether the younger brother was an Omega or an alpha didn’t matter to him.
Lu Heng: “But it seems no one believes me.”
An Le hugged Lu Heng’s neck, holding back his tears, and whispered, “I believe you, sir.”
Lu Heng hugged An Le and whispered, “Le Le.”
An Le sniffed and held back his tears, “Sir, don’t be sad about those people, they don’t deserve it.”
Their disbelief in Lu Heng already meant they weren’t worth Lu Heng’s sadness.
“I’m not sad.”
Lu Heng whispered, “As long as Le Le believes me, I’m not sad.”
Over the years, if he had been sad about these things, could he have reached his current position?
He wasn’t sad anymore!
It was just that in front of An Le, he didn’t know why, but he felt unusually vulnerable.
He wanted An Le to feel sorry for him and comfort him.
And he didn’t even need to explain how his brother died; An Le would believe him without hesitation.
Lu Heng was very happy, so happy he wanted to laugh out loud, but An Le was still there, so he couldn’t laugh.
An Le was heartbroken, “I believe in you, sir. I’ve always believed in you.”
Lu Heng smiled, “I need comfort.”
“I… I’ll comfort you, sir.”
An Le said as he released his pheromones, “Sir, do you feel better now?”
“Yes.”
Lu Heng smiled, “Being hugged by Le Le, this feeling is the best.”
An Le let Lu Heng lie on his left shoulder. Suddenly, he heard Lu Heng say something, but his voice was very low. His left ear couldn’t hear it, and his right ear only heard a very faint sound, as if he was talking about how his brother died.
He curiously asked, “Sir, what did you say? Can… can you speak louder?”
