Chapter 18: Chicken Claw God of War
Facts proved that “bragging” and “daydreaming” were by no means the exclusive patent of Alphas with bursting desire for control.
At least Guo Duoyu witnessed Omega Little Student Shou’s talent in this area, which definitely left this Alpha far behind in the dust.
Fortunately, Shou Jiaxun didn’t just brag; his actions were also swift and decisive.
During the shop renovation, Shou Jiaxun and Uncle Guo didn’t stop operating in a “waiting” state. They caught the last wave of stocking at the wholesale market at noon, and set up a stall at the entrance of their own shop on the pedestrian street in the afternoon, selling goods while distributing coupons to attract customer flow.
Commercial buildings could only be renovated at night. The two sold goods and supervised the renovation, busy all night long. The next morning, they slept in the store for a bit, then continued to run wholesale for stock; the cycle repeated, tireless.
The so-called “Positive Wealth Luck” meant getting what one worked forāno pain, no gain. As long as President Shou was willing to put in the effort, he could make money.
At first hearing, it seemed like a matter of course, not some amazing “great luck.”
But for President Shou, who possessed the experience of two lives, after seeing too many castles in the air collapse in an instant and speculation fail leading to suicide, he was very satisfied with this.
Although he was tired as a dog every day, the results were remarkable. The shop hadn’t opened yet, but the daily cash flow had already exceeded five figures.
Uncle Guo was originally worried about not being able to pay rent or carry the debt. Now he only wished the shop would open immediately and make big money.
The renovation team finished work at 2 AM. Uncle Guo still personally tidied up and checked the site again to ensure no omissions from the previous day and that building materials for the next day were accurately in place.
The first week of renovation involved slotting, wiring, digging, and piping. The next week was mixing mud and tiling. After that came painting, installing lights, and installing countersāit was looking more and more decent.
Shou Jiaxun and Uncle Guo also looked forward to the opening more and more eagerly.
The agency manager who helped them with the lease still came over every now and then to order fruit cups. Whether getting off work early or late, he would drop by to care about their renovation progress, sometimes even helping them inspect the project quality. He was a warm-hearted workplace neighbor.
Shou Jiaxun affectionately called himāOld Six (Lao Liu).
Because he seemed to know a little bit about everything and was proficient in everything. No matter what topic was discussed, he handled it with ease. Since his surname was Liu, President Shou called him Old Liu for a few days after getting familiar, and soon the style changed to Old Six.
That day, Manager Liu strolled slowly into Shou Jiaxun and Uncle Guo’s line of sight just past midnight.
President Shou raised his hand to greet him from afar. “Working huge overtime? Coming out so late.”
Manager Liu walked towards them with a smile. “Yeah, the company is launching a new project, busy these two days.”
Shou Jiaxun bent down, took out a pre-cut fruit cup from the counter, and handed it over. “Here, eat some fruit to relax, go home and sleep quickly.”
Manager Liu looked aggrieved. “I haven’t eaten yet…” Then he smiled sheepishly and suggested, “I’ll treat you guys to a late-night snack, just opposite.”
There was a 24-hour Cantonese tea house across the street. Since Cantonese cuisine was pricey to begin with, and given its location and decoration, it definitely wouldn’t be cheap. So although Shou Jiaxun and Uncle Guo had been facing it for half a month, they hadn’t had the idea to go check it out.
Uncle Guo smiled and waved his hand to refuse. “I just ate, about to close up. Ask President Shou.”
Shou Jiaxun saw the expectant look on the other’s face and couldn’t bear to refuse.
More importantly, remembering how he often worked overtime late into the night in his past life, eating snacks alone to fill his stomachāa very desolate sceneāhe nodded happily to Old Six and agreed readily, “I’ll keep you company.”
Manager Liu was overjoyed. He waited for Shou Jiaxun to untie his apron and led him across the pedestrian street.
There were few high-end restaurants open all night in the north. Occasionally, one or two opened in prosperous districts, and business was often particularly good at night.
Manager Liu wanted a small private room to eat quietly. Shou Jiaxun waited in line with him for a full twenty minutes before getting a seat.
And it was a rather cramped room for two.
Shou Jiaxun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry after entering. He thought, What’s so good about queuing for this little space? Order a few more dishes and there won’t even be room for plates. Might as well eat outside.
But soon he knew why Old Six insisted on a private room.
“Is Brother Guo’s son your boyfriend?” Manager Liu asked.
“No… yes! Right, we’ve been together since our secondary genders differentiated.” Shou Jiaxun changed his tune with a twist, immediately fabricating the dating timeline, afraid the expression wasn’t real enough.
Manager Liu gave a soft “oh,” looking slightly disappointed. “I see he rarely comes over.”
Shou Jiaxun smiled mockingly. “He has to take the college entrance exam, busy studying.”
Manager Liu nodded, adding water and picking up food for Shou Jiaxun, asking seemingly casually, “Are his grades good? You guys are so busy, and he doesn’t even come to help a little hand.”
“Little Guo studies especially well, always TOP of the grade. He is the hope for our whole family’s rise to prominence.”
Shou Jiaxun regretted it a bit after saying this because it was too exaggerated. He involuntarily raised his hand to scratch his forehead, showing an embarrassed expression.
Manager Liu was amused by him. “I thought you were the hope for your whole family’s rise to prominence.”
President Shou rubbed his forehead and smiled awkwardly. “That is also true.” This sentence was very sincere.
Manager Liu looked at him with a smile and stopped the previous topic.
But just when Shou Jiaxun thought he would stop there, he suddenly felt hot all over and his eyelids heavy. At the same time, he faintly smelled a pheromone scent emanating from a sex gland.
Shou Jiaxun hurriedly got up, saying he was going to the toilet. In reality, of course, he was preparing to “pee escape.”
Manager Liu also stood up, his face full of concern. “Little Shou, are you okay? Are you in heat?”
“No, not it.” Shou Jiaxun frowned and denied, reaching for the door handle.
Fortunately, this small private room was very small; his seat was just a step away from the door.
But also because the place was too small, Manager Liu was also very close to the door. He turned sideways to block the door with his back, supporting Shou Jiaxun instead. “You don’t seem right… I smell your pheromones. It’s not safe for you to go out now.”
Shou Jiaxun thought, It’s more dangerous if I don’t go out! The key was he only went into heat last week; how could it happen again for no reason a few days later?
Manager Liu helped him back to his seat, looking nervous. “Don’t move, I’ll go find you suppressants.”
Shou Jiaxun nodded weakly and said okay.
But Manager Liu didn’t leave.
The two remained in a stalemate, one sitting and one standing in front of the chair.
Manager Liu, who was “Old Six” in everything, was probably waiting for Shou Jiaxun’s feelings to flare up more intensely.
Shou Jiaxun was brewing to give the other party a kick at any time.
Manager Liu, who was a full zodiac cycle older than Little President Shou, seeing that the little O in front of him didn’t resist further, pushed his luck and placed a palm on the other’s thin chest, inducing softly, “Let me help you, I’ll help you, okay?”
As he spoke, he actually clamped Shou Jiaxun’s knees with his legs, giving President Shou no chance to use his “Golden Right Foot.”
“Indeed very 6 (slick/scheming) of you!” President Shou was indignant inside, but his face looked like he wanted to cry but had no tears. He turned his face to one side, trying his best to avoid the wretched man’s kiss.
In this situation, there wasn’t a single tool at hand to help him fight back.
However, waiting for death was never President Shou’s style.
In a flash, Shou Jiaxun grabbed a chicken foot in black bean sauce from a small steamer basket and thrust it towards Manager Liu’s eyes regardless of everything.
Manager Liu wore a pair of very elite-looking gold-rimmed glasses, so his eyeballs were spared, but the greasy juice covered the lenses, still forcing him to pause his approach to Shou Jiaxun.
Shou Jiaxun looked ferocious, clutching half a chicken foot as if clutching a knife, and suddenly thrust his body forward to headbutt Manager Liu’s nose bridge.
