[ABO] President Shou Is Not a Total Shou Chapter 48

Chapter 48: The Lingering Scent of an Omega

After Xiao Yu gave his statement at the police station to cooperate with filing the case, he rushed to the hospital. He searched the entire emergency area only to find Guo Duoyu and his dad squeezing foot-to-foot on the same hospital bed in the observation room, dozing off.

He hesitated for a long time before stepping forward to ask, “…Guo Duoyu, why aren’t you hospitalized?”

“There won’t be an open bed until tomorrow morning,” Guo Duoyu grinned sheepishly.

Even if he thought with his toes, he knew Xiao Yu didn’t make this special trip late at night out of concern for his injuries, so he voluntarily offered the answer: “Shou Jiaxun just left. Do you want me to give you his Feixin account? You can try adding him.”

A trace of disappointment appeared on Xiao Yu’s face, but his emotional expression wasn’t obvious. Overall, he was expressionless. In reality, he knew he definitely wouldn’t be able to add him even without trying.

“There’s some misunderstanding between Shou Jiaxun and me.” Class Monitor Xiao pulled over a plastic stool and sat by Guo Duoyu’s bed. “If there’s a chance, I hope to talk to him face-to-face.”

Guo Duoyu raised a hand to rub his sleepy eyes and amicably agreed, “Okay, I’ll help you arrange it.”

Xiao Yu was slightly surprised and took out his phone. “Then I’ll add you on Feixin.”

Guo Duoyu unlocked his phone, pulled up the “Add Friend” interface, and handed it to the Class Monitor: “However, he’s going on a business trip tomorrow morning and won’t be back until the end of the month. By the time he’s back, I’ll be off to Dubai. I can probably only forward a few messages for you then.”

Xiao Yu nodded in understanding. “Thanks. Including those things you said to me today.”

Guo Duoyu grinned sheepishly. “Actually, I’m not that close with Shou Jiaxun either. Even though he partners with my dad to sell fruit, over the years they’ve lived in the shop while I stayed at school. We rarely see each other in a year. It’s all hearsay and blind guessing. Don’t take it too much to heart.

I think Shou Jiaxun still has you in his heart. If you feel there’s a misunderstanding, just unravel it slowly.”

The platitudes he spoke were more “hollow” than instant noodle commercials, but on the surface, no fault could be found.

Xiao Yu twitched the corners of his mouth. “Okay. For today’s incident, if you need me to testify or provide additional materials to the police, contact me anytime.”

Uncle Guo had pretended not to recognize Student Xiao, so he had remained silent. Only after Xiao Yu walked out did he whisper to his son, “He doesn’t still want to chase after Shou Jiaxun, does he?”

Guo Duoyu raised his eyebrows with an innocent expression, shifting his legs toward the edge of the bed to give his dad more room. “I’m not sure. He dated Bai Fan for a while back then, and later hooked up with an Omega from Class Three. I feel his romantic life is quite rich. He shouldn’t have such a huge obsession with Shou Jiaxun.”

Uncle Guo curled his lips. “If you get a chance, tell him to save his breath. Little President Shou doesn’t fall for reverse psychology.”

“Sigh! I couldn’t care less about them. If I advise him, he might think I have improper thoughts about Shou Jiaxun…” Guo Duoyu closed his eyes and chuckled. “It is a virtue for a person to know their own limitations.”

—”You aren’t that bad either.”

Guo Duoyu might not have been referring to himself with that sentence, but his dad comforted him with certainty: “Little President Shou often praises you to me.”

Guo Duoyu’s lips parted slightly, but quickly pressed together, suppressing the urge to ask for more.

Uncle Guo, however, rambled on, conveying affection on behalf of his young partner: “Said you are a good kid, exceptionally sensible, good at your studies, kind-hearted, honest and dutiful, and don’t make your dad worry.”

“Hey Dad, Dad!” Guo Duoyu suddenly spoke up to interrupt his dad. “Why don’t you go home and sleep? This bed is too small.”

—”Guo Duoyu, this person… actually isn’t superfluous at all. He’s been exceptionally sensible since childhood, good at studies, kind-hearted, honest and dutiful, and doesn’t make his dad worry.”

Shou Jiaxun said as he turned his head, soliciting the opinion of Assistant Liang, who was driving: “Tell me, wouldn’t marrying him be pretty okay?”

“Uh…” Liang Bo looked troubled. He thought seriously for a moment before replying prudently, “Although I am a Beta, I lean toward the Alpha type.

Which is to say, I prefer Omegas a bit more. Of course, Betas are fine too. Anyway, it’s just… I probably wouldn’t work well with an Alpha.”

Shou Jiaxun was so amused his shoulders shook. “Who said I wanted to matchmake the two of you?”

Liang Bo asked in surprise, “Then why are you suddenly praising him to me?”

President Shou clicked his tongue. “I just wanted your opinion. Do you think he would make a good partner?”

Assistant Liang fell into deep thought again. It took three minutes before he spoke: “Whether it’s good or not depends on who he’s paired with. The most important thing in a relationship is compatibility. For example, he might be a good partner to someone else, but definitely not to you.”

Shou Jiaxun was puzzled. “Why?”

Assistant Liang played dumb. “What why?”

“Why do you think we are incompatible?”

“You two have a generation gap.”

President Shou displayed quite a surprised expression. “How did you see that?”

“I didn’t see it, I heard it.” Assistant Liang pouted and shook his head. “Just now you said yourself, ‘This child has been sensible since childhood and doesn’t make his dad worry.’ My grandpa usually praises me like this, so evaluating Guo Duoyu like that shows you two are at least two generations apart.”

Shou Jiaxun was dumbfounded. “…I don’t think I said ‘this child’?”

Liang Bo nodded with certainty. “You did!”

“No, no, I didn’t,” President Shou denied.

Liang Bo’s tone was so firm it was almost unreasonable: “Even if you didn’t say it out loud, you said it in your heart.”

“Oh, hehe,” President Shou compromised. “Fine, truly incompatible.”

Liang Bo secretly let out a sigh of relief, silently saying sorry to Guo Duoyu in his heart: Love is inherently selfish. Since he asked me, it means he isn’t certain himself. I’m just helping him think it through.

Shou Jiaxun returned to Uncle Guo’s house and immediately pulled out two suitcases to pack. He also urged Liang Bo to go home and pack for the business trip, arranging for the two to meet at the airport tomorrow.

However, a few minutes after Liang Bo left, he quickly returned holding a bottle of safflower oil for bruises and swelling. He told Shou Jiaxun he had called his dad to pack his luggage, and it would be sent over by a local courier service soon.

This way, they could depart together tomorrow morning, remind each other of what to bring, and avoid anyone being late due to traffic.

President Shou, who was sitting on the floor folding clothes and stuffing them into his suitcase, immediately gave his little assistant a thumbs-up. “I must give you the first ‘Dedication Blessing’ I draw this year.

…Alright then, go take a shower quickly. You can stay in the room opposite mine. Don’t sleep too late, see you tomorrow morning.”

Liang Bo strolled into the opposite room, only to return in less than a minute to complain: “There’s nothing in the bathroom across the hall!”

Shou Jiaxun pointed casually toward the washroom behind him. “Come grab it from mine.”

Liang Bo immediately stepped over the suitcase on the floor and ducked into the bathroom inside Shou Jiaxun’s bedroom.

President Shou suddenly froze when he heard the sound of rushing water from his own bathroom. He tilted his head back to glance behind him, thinking to himself: This kid… really makes himself at home.

In the bathroom, Liang Bo had turned on the showerhead but didn’t immediately step in to wash. Instead, he tiptoed to take down the terrycloth bathrobe hanging on the wall, pressed the inner collar to his nose, and took a deep, forceful breath.

He then tightly hugged the entire bathrobe to his chest. His hands clutching the robe tightened until his knuckles turned slightly white from the force, as if he could use the lingering scent on the bathrobe to fantasize that he was holding its owner, fully immersing his entire body and soul in intoxication.
