Accidentally Pregnant With The Brother Of My Secret Love chapter 17

 Chapter 17

By his side, the CEO of Chuang Yi Technology Company was talking.

“… Thank you, President Yan, it is our greatest honor to cooperate with the Yan Group.”

Yan Shiting did not respond, his steps slowing slightly as his gaze fell on the slender figure in the corner of the hall.

Their eyes met, and Yu Li quickly looked away, continuing to wipe the rain-dampened hair with the towel in his hands.

But Yan Shiting’s gaze inconspicuously observed Yu Li.

It’s been a few days, he seems to have lost some weight.

Wearing a formal shirt and tie, is he here for an interview?

It’s raining and cold today, why is he not wearing a coat?

Yan Shiting’s mouth tightened, his footsteps pausing for only a moment, but the next second, he continued to step forward and leave.

Never mind.

Yu Li didn’t expect to see Yan Shiting here.

He was caught off guard when their eyes met, and he quickly turned his head to avoid it. After the group left the building, he finally let out a slight sigh of relief.

He finished wiping the rain off his head and went to the front desk to sign in.

“Thank you for the towel. I’m the intern who received a call for an interview yesterday.”

“Okay, just fill in your name and phone number here, the HR department is on the fifth floor.”

After signing in, Yu Li took the elevator to the fifth floor for the interview.

By the time the interview was over, half an hour had passed.

The HR told Yu Li to come back in half a month for the written test, and only after passing that written test would he be able to start the internship at Chuang Yi Technology.

The written test and interview a month later would be different from the previous one, as it was specially designed by Chuang Yi for interns to assess their professional level and determine which area of work would suit them.

Yu Li stood up and thanked them, and just as he was about to leave, the HR suddenly asked another question:

“Excuse me, I noticed that the project you did in the programming competition was game-related, but the small program you showed me just now was a tool-type one. So which area are you more skilled and interested in?”

Yu Li knew that Chuang Yi also had a game development studio under its umbrella, so the HR was probably considering which department to arrange him in after he passed the written test.

However, he actually couldn’t answer this question.

What was he skilled and interested in? He didn’t even know himself.

He pursed his lips, his gaze vaguely answering, “I think both are still okay.”

The HR nodded and smiled, “Okay, I understand. Don’t be nervous, good luck on the written test.”

After leaving the interview office, Yu Li let out a soft sigh.

When he went downstairs, he saw that it was raining heavily outside.

The light drizzle when he came earlier had now turned into a downpour.

Yu Li called a car on his phone, but since it was raining heavily, the car took a while to arrive.

After about seven or eight minutes, he received a call from the driver saying he was about to arrive.

Just as Yu Li was about to step out of the office building to wait at the roadside, he saw a figure with an umbrella quickly approaching him.

Upon closer look, it was Butler He.

Yu Li was stunned, and when he reacted, he wanted to just pretend he didn’t see him, but he heard Butler He’s anxious voice calling out to him:

“Little Yu, wait, take the umbrella!”

Yu Li had no choice but to stand still.

Butler He quickly came up to him and stuffed another black umbrella into his hand.

“It’s raining so hard, you can’t go without an umbrella.”

Yu Li was caught off guard, looking at the black umbrella in his hand and then at Butler He: “Uncle He, I…”

He paused, glancing at the black Bentley parked by the roadside.

He tightened his lips and asked, “Was this given to me by the President?”

Butler He’s gaze was somewhat complicated as he said, “Since I’m the one who put the umbrella in your hand, then it’s from me. Besides, no matter who told me to give it to you, you can’t just throw it away. Think more about your own health and don’t get wet in the rain.”

Yu Li gripped the umbrella tightly, lowering his head.

Butler He was good to him, so he couldn’t just waste his kindness.

A white car had stopped by the roadside, and Yu Li’s phone also rang at this time.

His taxi had arrived.

Yu Li hung up the phone, looked at Butler He, and finally said, “Thank you, Uncle He.”

Butler He nodded, watching as Yu Li walked to the white car, shielded by the umbrella.

After the white car left, Butler He returned to the car.

He sat in the passenger seat, turning back to the backseat where Yan Shiting was and said, “Young Master, you…”

He didn’t know exactly what had caused the argument between Yan Shiting and Yu Li that night, but he could guess that his young master might have said something inappropriate again, causing a misunderstanding.

Yan Shiting looked down at the tablet, interrupting Butler He’s words, “Let’s go back to the office.”

The driver acknowledged, starting the car.

Butler He retracted his gaze, silently sighing.

Back in the dorm, thanks to the umbrella sent by Butler He, Yu Li’s body didn’t get wet, only the hem of his pants was damp.

He changed his pants and sat thinly dressed at the desk, wanting to read a bit more, but his mind couldn’t help but think about what the HR had said.

What did he really like doing?

Yu Li propped his head, unusually lost in thought at the desk.

As he was thinking, he suddenly thought of Yan Shiting again, his gaze subtly glancing towards the black umbrella placed in the water bucket by the door.

Thinking back to the argument that night, what he and Yan Shiting said seemed to be quite chaotic, as if they were completely out of sync.

Sure enough, they were people from two different worlds.

Well, it’s all in the past now.

Yu Li shook his head, putting the troubling matters aside.

Around noon, Yan Sui returned from the library and brought lunch for the three roommates.

“Thank you, Adoptive Father! Adoptive Father, you’ve worked hard, please sit down and eat.” Lin Jiafan quickly took the plastic bags from Yan Sui’s hands.

Yan Sui chatted with him for a while, then turned to the lost-in-thought Yu Li.

“Yu Li, it’s time to eat. I packed you some sour soup beef.”

Yu Li was pulled back from his thoughts.

He went to Lin Jiafan’s desk, took his own portion of food, and returned to his desk.

“Why are you wearing so little today?” Yan Sui asked with some puzzlement.

Yu Li was cold-natured, able to tolerate the heat in summer, but not the cold in winter. Whenever the temperature dropped, he would be the first to put on autumn clothes.

Yet today, the three of them were all wearing jackets, but Yu Li was still only in a short-sleeved shirt.

“I don’t feel cold,” Yu Li said as he unwrapped the takeout box.

“That’s strange, Four Er used to be so afraid of the cold before,” Lin Jiafan said, walking over to Yu Li’s desk and touching his arm, finding that Yu Li’s body temperature seemed a bit warmer than his own.

“Four Er, are you running a fever? Let’s take your temperature after you finish eating.”

Yu Li shook his head, “No, it’s not a fever, maybe your hand is just cold.”

Yan Sui heard this, and not feeling reassured, took out the thermometer to check Yu Li’s temperature.

37.2 degrees Celsius, normal.

He felt the back of Yu Li’s head and saw that his complexion was normal, so he felt slightly relieved.

“Okay, hurry up and eat. Oh right, the restaurant recently changed the pickled vegetables, and I almost threw up when I was eating it today.”

Lin Jiafan, upon hearing this, deliberately picked out the pickled vegetables from his own pickled fish dish and tasted them, immediately scrunching up his face.

“Ugh, the taste—”

“Right? I don’t know how long they’ve been fermenting, and I even told the boss to put less for you guys.”

As Yu Li listened to their conversation, he felt that the sour soup beef in his portion tasted just right.

Perhaps it was because his portion had the least, just one or two slices.

He didn’t express any opinion, quietly eating most of it.

The weather has been really strange during this period. After the rain that day, the temperature didn’t fully drop, and it appeared again with a high of 30 degrees Celsius in a couple of days.

Along with the weather changes, Yu Li’s mood also fluctuated.

He became a bit irritable, with poor appetite and unable to eat full meals, and he also tended to feel sleepy, dozing off for up to 12 hours a day.

In just a few days, he had lost a few pounds, and his chin had even become a bit pointed.

One morning, Yan Sui got up early as usual to occupy a seat in the library, but when he came to the washroom, he found Yu Li leaning over the sink, his expression painful as he forcibly held back his voice and vomited out a few mouthfuls of clear water.

Yan Sui was alarmed, quickly closing the door to muffle the sound and asked, “Yu Li, what’s wrong?”

Yu Li turned on the faucet, washed his face, and raised his pale little face, saying, “Seems like a bit of a stomach bug.”

Yan Sui patted his back, “Let me take you to the infirmary.”

Yu Li shook his head, “It’s fine, I have some gastritis capsules, I’ll just brew some of that to drink.”

“Still, you should go have a look.”

Yu Li shook his head again, really having no energy to continue talking with him, and after vomiting, he weakly climbed back onto the bed to lie down.

Yan Sui looked at his back, frowning with a very worried expression.

Yu Li managed to sleep a bit more, and when he woke up, he found that Yan Sui hadn’t gone to the library, but had instead packed a bowl of millet porridge and placed it on his desk.

Yu Li thanked Yan Sui and sent him the money for the porridge.

After finishing that bowl of millet porridge, the nausea and vomiting sensation seemed to subside a bit.

Yu Li rummaged in the drawer and found the box of gastritis capsules, only to discover that they had expired.

Yu Li: “…”

He sighed, a bit speechless. He rarely got sick, and the few times he had these medicines prepared, he hadn’t actually taken them much, so he didn’t realize they had expired.

“Yu Li, what’s wrong?” Yan Sui looked up and asked.

“The medicine has expired.”

“Ah?” Yan Sui was taken aback, then looked at his own medicine cabinet, “I have some stomach medicine here, let me give you some.”

“It’s fine, I’m much better now, just need to rest a bit more.”

Yu Li finished speaking, feeling a bit sleepy again, and climbed onto the bed to lie down.

Yan Sui thought for a moment, then picked up his phone and sent a message to Yan Shiting.

【Brother, can you have Uncle He bring us lunch later? 】

【I miss the food from home, the food at school isn’t good. Even the least picky Yu Li can’t eat it, he’s lost several pounds and even has an upset stomach. Poor thing.jpg】

After a while, Yan Sui finally received his brother’s reply:

【Okay.】

At noon, Butler He brought lunch for Yan Sui.

He brought a four-person portion, with a share for each of Yan Sui’s three roommates.

Yan Sui and Lin Jiafan carried the several insulated lunch boxes back, excitedly calling out:

“Come, Yu Li, my family sent us lunch today. There’s the braised yellow croaker you like.”

He opened the lunch boxes, placing the appetizing-looking dishes in front of Yu Li.

None of the dishes were anything but those that Yu Li enjoyed eating.

However, catching a whiff of the faint fishy aroma of the braised yellow croaker, Yu Li deeply furrowed his brows.

Covering his stomach, he turned his head away:

“Ugh—”
