Chapter 42
As it approached December, Y City was about to enter winter, with the temperature gradually dropping to around 10 degrees.
Yan Hospital.
In the private ultrasound examination room of the Yan family, Yu Li was lying on the examination bed, watching the ultrasound probe in the hands of Dr. Yan slide across his abdomen.
During the previous two examinations, Yan Shiting had not accompanied him into the examination room, but this time he stood quietly by the bedside, keeping him company.
Dr. Xu carefully watched the image on the ultrasound screen.
The examination room was very quiet, and after a while, he glanced questioningly at Dr. Yan.
Dr. Yan nodded at him.
The two were like solving a puzzle, which left Yu Li somewhat confused.
From their expressions, it didn’t seem like there was any problem with the child.
Dr. Yan turned back and, seeing Yu Li’s confusion, smiled and said, “The child is over four months old now, gradually developing. Next time during the routine check-up, we can do a 4D color ultrasound to see if the child will look more like you or Shiting.”
Yu Li listened carefully, then looked at Yan Shiting beside him.
Yan Shiting also lowered his head and looked at him.
Yu Li scrutinized Yan Shiting’s face, and following Dr. Yan’s words, he couldn’t help but wonder what the child’s appearance would be like in the future.
If the child looked like Yan Shiting, would they also always have a stern expression?
Thinking about the two of them, the big and the small, with cold faces, Yu Li couldn’t help but chuckle.
The examination ended quickly, and Yan Shiting wiped the coupling agent off Yu Li’s abdomen, helping him sit up. They followed Dr. Xu back to the office.
Dr. Xu seemed a bit lost in thought and hadn’t said anything.
Seeing this, Yu Li felt uneasy and couldn’t help but ask, “Dr. Xu, you haven’t been saying anything. Is there something wrong with the child?”
Dr. Xu snapped out of his reverie and waved his hand, “No, I was just thinking, if I tell you the baby’s gender, would that be a violation of the regulations.”
Yu Li was silent for a moment.
That was a good question.
Dr. Xu was the Yan family’s private doctor and also a doctor at Yan Hospital.
If the employer asked him about the baby’s gender, he might not be able to avoid answering.
Seeing the awkward Dr. Xu, Yu Li said, “You don’t need to tell us. When the child is born, we’ll know, won’t we?”
Dr. Xu smiled, “That’s right.”
He then prepared some more vitamins for Yu Li, as well as a bottle of stretch mark oil.
That bottle of oil was co-developed by Dr. Xu and Dr. Yan, very gentle, non-irritating, and without side effects.
Back home, that night after taking a shower, while Yan Shiting was still in the shower, Yu Li went online to check where to apply the stretch mark oil.
The abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.
Yu Li carefully read the doctor’s instructions and planned to try applying it himself.
With only one hand, it was not easy to operate, so he bit the hem of his nightshirt, poured some oil into his palm, and started applying it to his abdomen.
The sound of the bathroom door opening came from the direction of the bedroom, but Yu Li, focused on applying the oil, didn’t notice.
Yan Shiting walked out of the bathroom and, seeing Yu Li on the bed, paused his steps slightly.
The young man was kneeling on the deep gray bed, biting the hem of his nightshirt, exposing his fair abdomen and a stretch of slender waist.
Probably he didn’t even realize that this was a rather… alluring posture.
The memory of that night four months ago flashed through Yan Shiting’s mind, and his gaze dropped to the back of Yu Li’s waist.
He still remembered that slender waist had two dimples, and that night he couldn’t restrain himself from touching them a few times.
Yan Shiting’s eyes darkened.
He gently closed the bathroom door and stepped towards the bed.
Seeing Yan Shiting out of the corner of his eye, Yu Li was slightly surprised, his lips slightly parted, and the hem of his nightshirt fell down, covering the fair skin.
“You’re done washing so quickly?” he asked in a daze.
Yan Shiting’s gaze was obscure and unfathomable as he sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed Yu Li’s hand.
“Forgot to bring my pajamas.”
His gaze was somewhat direct, and the warmth in his deep eyes seemed to scald Yu Li.
The grip on his hand was also a little tighter than usual, as if he was restraining something.
Yu Li seemed to understand, glancing downward.
He only glanced for a moment before quickly looking away, his earlobes quietly turning red.
Immediately, Yu Li became a little confused. Why did Yan Shiting suddenly… react so strongly?
He didn’t do anything, did he?
As Yu Li was at a loss, Yan Shiting gently released his hand and picked up the stretch mark oil from the bedside table.
“You can’t operate it well, let me finish applying it for you before I go take a shower.”
Yu Li was taken aback, and unconsciously asked, “Do you know where to apply it?”
Yan Shiting’s hand holding the stretch mark oil paused, his breathing becoming heavier.
He raised his eyes, and the usually cold gaze behind the glasses seemed a little fierce.
His voice was a little hoarse and low, “I know.”
Yu Li blushed and didn’t say anything.
He had just checked, so he knew where to apply it too.
*
The stretch mark oil should not be applied too much. After pouring it into the palm of his hand, just take a little with the fingertips and apply a thin layer to the area to be applied.
Yu Li had already applied it to his abdomen, so Yan Shiting applied it to the other areas.
Going around the abdomen, his touch was not heavy. After applying it, he massaged it in a clockwise direction to help it absorb.
His fingers touching the skin, Yu Li shrank a little, but had nowhere to hide, could only lie flat or lie down to expose the areas that needed to be applied.
To avoid pressing on the abdomen, Yu Li also slightly arched his back.
So he heard Yan Shiting’s breathing gradually becoming heavier beside him.
The temperature in the bedroom seemed to have risen a bit, and the redness on his ears had spread to his face.
A few minutes later, Yan Shiting capped the bottle, helped Yu Li tidy up his pajamas, and leaned down to kiss his red ear.
“I’ll go take a shower, you sleep first.”
Then he got up, went to the dressing room to get his pajamas, and quickly went back to the bathroom.
Yu Li’s face was flushed and his breathing unsteady as he looked toward the bathroom.
Yan Shiting really did just apply the oil.
Even though the reaction hadn’t subsided yet, he still seriously applied it all, and then restrained himself and left.
Yu Li took a deep breath, turned over and buried his face in the pine-scented pillow.
It was his own pillow. But after living with Yan Shiting, the toiletries he used also had the same pine scent as Yan Shiting.
Inhaling the familiar scent, his breathing calmed down a bit, and Yu Li turned over, sprawling himself into a pancake, slowly falling asleep.
In the bright bathroom, the cold water kept pouring down.
Yan Shiting closed his eyes, and it took a while before he opened them again.
He impatiently ran his fingers through his hair, slowly regaining his composure.
Indeed, when private desires are satisfied, they become more and more greedy.
…
Half a month after Yan Shiting and Yan Sui had their heart-to-heart talk, Yan Sui invited Yu Li to go out and play again on a weekend.
The address he sent was in an upscale residential area, and when Yu Li arrived, he saw Yan Sui waiting at the entrance of the community.
“Yu Li, over here!” Yan Sui waved and excitedly ran over to Yu Li.
His brows and eyes were relaxed, and the gloomy look from that morning was completely gone.
It seems he had thoroughly thought it through.
Yu Li felt relieved and also smiled, asking, “Is there anything new and interesting in this community?”
Given Yan Sui’s personality, whenever he asked him to go out, it was either to try a new game or see something new and interesting.
Yan Sui smiled mysteriously and said, “It’s quite new and interesting to me. Come, let your brother show you.”
Yan Sui finished speaking and led Yu Li into the community.
This was a relatively new upscale community with good security. Yu Li even saw a few celebrities he had seen on TV before.
He followed Yan Sui to a building and took the elevator to the 12th floor.
The layout of this building was one staircase and two units. Yan Sui led Yu Li into one of the units.
Pushing open the front door, the spacious living room inside had four sets of office desks and chairs, with new computers fully equipped on the desktops.
Apart from that, there was nothing else in the living room.
Yu Li was taken aback, and his brain quickly identified the scene in front of him, then hesitantly asked, “Is this… an internet cafe?”
Yan Sui, hearing this, stumbled at the threshold.
“Although it’s not decorated yet, but…” Yan Sui pretended to look gloomy as he glanced around the living room and asked, “How can this be an internet cafe?”
He said, “The chairs in an internet cafe are much more comfortable than mine.”
Yu Li laughed, “Sorry, I was just guessing.”
He noticed Yan Sui’s words and asked again, “Is this your house?”
Yan Sui scratched his head and nodded, “Yeah, it’s my future studio.”
“Studio?” Yu Li was taken aback.
“Yes, my game development studio,” Yan Sui said, his eyes shining excitedly as he looked at Yu Li:
“Last time my brother and I had a heart-to-heart talk, he said…”
Yan Sui coughed twice, furrowed his brows, lowered his voice, and said sternly, “Yan Sui, you can choose to take the postgraduate exam, or you can choose to join a company, but I hope the path you take in the future will be a decision you have carefully thought through yourself, and not one that is interfered with or forced upon you.”
Yan Sui already resembled Yan Shiting by about six or seven parts, and with his stern expression, he looked even more similar.
Yu Li looked at him and couldn’t help but laugh.
After saying this, Yan Sui returned to his original demeanor and said, “Then I thought of what you said before, about wanting to find something I really want to do. So I thought carefully and realized that I’m very interested in games. After playing so many games over the years, why not try making one myself?”
“I talked to Changke, and she said she would give me a part-time job to help me with the music for the game.”
Yan Sui walked to the center of the living room, pointing to the four office desks, and said, “My desk will be here, and Changke will come and work part-time, sitting here.”
“I’ll be responsible for the programming code, Changke will be responsible for the music, and I’ll outsource the copywriting and art design first. Then when the studio is stable, we’ll recruit our own art designer and writer!”
As he spoke, his eyes shone brightly.
It seemed that in his eyes, this was not just an ordinary living room, but a complete game development studio.
Yu Li could see Yan Sui’s enthusiasm for making games.
He couldn’t help but recall that during the National Day period, Yan Sui had been quite lost and troubled, self-destructed for a while.
But now, Yan Sui had already found what he really wanted to do.
Yu Li was also happy for Yan Sui.
He clapped his hands and said, “Congratulations, I wish your game a big hit in advance.”
Yan Sui smiled shyly, “I only have a rough idea now, haven’t started doing it yet.”
He looked at Yu Li and casually asked, “What about you? Have you found the thing you really want to do?”
Yu Li paused.
Since learning about the pregnancy, he hadn’t really thought much about his future plans.
One was that he had other things to do, and two was that he had only thought about the short-term goal of having a child, and hadn’t paused to think about what he would do after the child was born.
Yu Li lowered his eyes and said, “Actually, I haven’t figured it out yet.”
“I don’t seem to have any goals.”
Although the mortgage at home was paid off, and there was no more debt, but at the same time, there was also no savings.
His mother would retire in three years, which was exactly when Yu Xin would go to university.
So previously, Yu Li’s only goal was to earn money, wanting to reduce the pressure on the family and let his mother and sister live a better life.
But now…
Yu Li frowned, his mind in turmoil.
Yan Sui quickly said, “It’s okay, take your time, you’ll find your goal.”
“Or you can also come and work with me on games, I’ll give you the same high-level programmer’s salary as outside.”
Yu Li understood Yan Sui’s good intentions.
He gathered his thoughts and smiled, “Thank you, I’m in no hurry. I’ll think about it when I have time.”
“Keep showing me around your studio.”
