Accidentally Turned a Tragic Romance Plotline into a Sweet and Pampering One [Transmigration] CHAPTER 7

Chapter 7
Back home, Lin Zheng took off his coat, setting it aside, and carefully examined the card.
He pinched his cheek; it hurt.
He wasn’t dreaming!
Thinking of Gu Lin’s hundreds of millions of assets, and that his salary card was Gu Lin’s supplementary card, Lin Zheng was almost overwhelmed with excitement.
Gu Lin was truly rich.
After showering, Lin Zheng, in clean, soft pajamas, dried his still-damp hair with a towel and threw himself onto the bed.
But was it really okay for him to just give him a supplementary card?
Considering their relationship, Lin Zheng couldn’t help but feel like he wasn’t receiving a salary card, but his husband’s salary card.
…No, no, no. Lin Zheng shook his head vigorously.
What was he thinking? How could he and Gu Lin possibly…?
Gu Lin was just being casual. He gave him a card when he was in a good mood; he’d probably take it back when he wasn’t.
Lin Zheng carefully put the card in his wallet.
But for now, since Gu Lin was in such a good mood, he wouldn’t be polite.
After putting away the card, Lin Zheng went to bed.
He dreamt as usual, but tonight’s dreams were unusually satisfying.
The next morning.
After reporting the day’s schedule, the assistant continued with recent events. “By the way, there’s a charity gala tomorrow night at eight o’clock. As in previous years, I’ve registered your attendance as one person.”
Gu Lin, in his office chair, set down his delicate porcelain coffee cup. “Change the attendance to two people.”
Hearing this, the assistant, usually impeccably composed, showed a crack in their composure.
Gu Lin attended the gala every year, but he had never brought anyone before, regardless of how many socialites had offered themselves.
…This was unprecedented. Their boss might be in a relationship.
Although they wanted to gossip about their boss, their professional training allowed the assistant to quickly regain their composure. “Okay, I’ll re-register as two people.”
The assistant closed the door and left.
Gu Lin stood up and walked to the window, looking out. The sun was slowly rising above the pale horizon, its bright light piercing the city’s darkness, generously showering the city with life and hope.
The light climbed over the city, onto Gu Lin’s face, adding a captivating gleam to his usually impassive eyes.
When Lin Zheng opened Gu Lin’s office door, “frantic” would be a fitting description.
His suit jacket was open, his tie askew. If someone didn’t know better, they might think he’d experienced some kind of disaster.
In fact, Lin Zheng had waited for the bus for a long time, only to realize he was at the wrong stop. Seeing that time was running out, he took a taxi, but the traffic was terrible, so he ended up running to the office.
Lin Zheng had never imagined he could be so disheveled, nor that he would be scrutinized by Gu Lin, who was reviewing documents.
Lin Zheng didn’t know what his job would be until Gu Lin handed him over to his assistant, asking him to learn about his recent schedule. He realized that Gu Lin had hired him as a personal assistant.
As the name suggested, a personal assistant did more than a regular assistant, handling not only work matters but also the employer’s private life.
Lin Zheng quickly learned the company’s work routine, surprising the assistant with his speed.
This work wasn’t difficult for Lin Zheng. He had more than enough relevant experience; otherwise, he wouldn’t have agreed to work for Gu Lin.
Gu Lin’s assistant, though seemingly cold, was actually warm-hearted.
Within a day, they started chatting about their lives and even invited Lin Zheng to their house for dinner.
“Assistant Shen,” Gu Lin leaned against the office door, tapping his wristwatch with his left hand, watching Assistant Shen, who was trying to invite Lin Zheng. “It’s time to leave.”
Seeing his boss, Assistant Shen’s face instantly regained its usual coldness. He replied “Okay” and turned back to continue persuading Lin Zheng.
Gu Lin: “…”
Lin Zheng, finding it hard to refuse, was about to agree when his right wrist was grasped.
Looking up, it was Gu Lin.
Without waiting for him to speak, Gu Lin glanced at Assistant Shen and pulled him away.
“??” Lin Zheng looked at Gu Lin, then at Assistant Shen. “Assistant Shen, see you tomorrow.”
After saying this, Lin Zheng felt the hand holding his wrist tighten slightly.
Lin Zheng thought Gu Lin was taking him to dinner, but instead, he was taken to a quaint-looking tailor shop.
Lin Zheng followed him inside. The shop wasn’t large, but it was a different world from the bustling street outside. Several old sewing machines were placed inside, and clothes hung around the room. There weren’t many, but they were exquisitely made.
Lin Zheng casually glanced at the price tag of one of them and was startled. The clothes here cost hundreds of thousands of yuan.
Soon, the elderly owner personally greeted Gu Lin.
Gu Lin bowed slightly to the old owner. “Custom-made might not be ready in time. I’d like to choose a few well-fitting suits here.”
The old owner nodded kindly. “Alright, wait a moment.”
Then, he went inside.
Lin Zheng waited idly for Gu Lin. A few minutes later, an employee in tailoring attire came out and asked Lin Zheng to come in.
Lin Zheng was confused. Why was he asked to go in? Shouldn’t it be Gu Lin?
Gu Lin said, “I’m here to choose clothes for you today.”
Surprised, Lin Zheng remembered the six-figure price tags he had seen earlier. He whispered to Gu Lin, “No, isn’t this too expensive…?”
And several suits.
Gu Lin looked at him. “Where’s the card?”
Lin Zheng: “?”
Gu Lin: “I didn’t give you the card to leave it unused.”
Lin Zheng: “…”
A headline popped into Lin Zheng’s mind—How to deal with a rich person forcing you to spend money?
How to deal with it? Spend!
Lin Zheng nodded. “Okay!”
The old owner personally measured Lin Zheng, then selected a few suits from the ready-made clothes. Lin Zheng tried one on; it fit perfectly, indistinguishable from a custom-made suit.
Gu Lin picked up a dress and handed it to him. “Try this one on.”
Lin Zheng could understand ordering custom suits, but a dress? What for?
Nevertheless, Lin Zheng tried it on.
He put on the shirt, vest, and jacket, then looked in the mirror to adjust his bow tie.
Lin Zheng didn’t wear bow ties often and wasn’t good at it. He struggled for a while but couldn’t get it right.
Seeing that Lin Zheng didn’t come out, Gu Lin went to the fitting room and called out to him.
“Gu Lin, I can’t do the bow tie. Can you help me?” Lin Zheng’s voice came from inside.
Hearing this, Gu Lin paused.
The fitting room was separated from the outside by a dark curtain. The next second, Gu Lin lifted the curtain and went inside.
The fitting room wasn’t large; it was cramped.
With Gu Lin inside, it was even more obvious.
In the little more than one square meter fitting room, besides the two men, there was only a space about the width of a hand between them.
The two men stood facing each other. Because of their height difference, Lin Zheng could only see Gu Lin’s chin.
Lin Zheng’s dark bow tie hung loosely around his neck.
Gu Lin reached out, his slender index finger lifting a corner of the bow tie.
“Lift your chin a little,” Gu Lin’s breath brushed against Lin Zheng’s face. “Show your neck.”
Realizing the room was too small, Lin Zheng said, “We could also do it outside.”
Gu Lin blocked the curtain between Lin Zheng and the fitting room. “No need.”
Lin Zheng obediently lifted his chin slightly, revealing his white neck.
Gu Lin picked up the two ends of the bow tie, methodically crossing them, looping them through, bending the longer end in half… After tying it, his index finger slid across the edge of the dark red satin bow tie, to Lin Zheng’s shirt, fastening the button that wasn’t done up.
“Done.” His voice was low.
Lin Zheng touched it; the loose fabric had become a neat bow tie. He thanked Gu Lin and happily went out.
Behind him, Gu Lin leaned against the fitting room wall, watching Lin Zheng’s white nape beneath his loose hair. Something else entered his deep eyes.
