Part 2
“Husband!”
“Eh, Wifey.”
“…”
The two whispered sweet nothings until the night passed.
The next day, the wedding began.
The guests arrived very early, and Gu Lin started greeting them right away.
From the moment Lin Zheng put on his tuxedo, his heartbeat had been erratic. This was why he hadn’t gone with Gu Lin to greet the guests together.
Lin Zheng hid in the room. More and more guests were arriving outside. If he didn’t go out soon, it would look bad, but… his legs wouldn’t listen to him! He couldn’t take a step. Moreover, when he poked his head out slightly to peek… he felt like dying. There were so many guests, and Gu Lin was completely surrounded by the crowd.
If he went out right now, he would definitely have to greet people. But the moment he got nervous, his brain went blank. Forget greeting people; he had practically forgotten all their names.
Gu Lin, I need you. I’ll even let you call me Wifey, just come back quickly.
Lin Zheng hid behind the door, staring intently at Gu Lin outside with pleading eyes, looking exactly like a “waiting-for-husband” rock.
“Well, well, look who’s here? Our little bride.”
Lin Zheng was startled by the voice behind him.
Turning around, he saw Yan Yang with a teasing look on his face. Standing beside him was a small guy—this must be the little boyfriend who had managed to tame Yan Yang, the ‘Sea King’, into submission.
The man politely extended his hand. “Congratulations, Lin Zheng.”
They were colleagues from the same company and had met several times.
Since they were from the same company, Lin Zheng felt slightly less nervous. He shook the hand and expressed his thanks.
Yan Yang suddenly pulled out an exquisitely wrapped gift box and handed it to him. “Little Chicken Coop Head, a wedding gift. Happy wedding.”
Lin Zheng accepted it, breaking into a smile. “Thanks.”
After Yan Yang left, Lin Zheng saw another familiar face.
The newcomer was wearing a well-fitted suit, his hair slicked back, looking much more spirited than usual. What was different from before was that he had brought a male companion.
Lin Zheng greeted him happily. “Wu Yu, you made it?”
Wu Yu smiled at him and came over. “I looked for you outside for ages and couldn’t find you. So you were hiding here.” Wu Yu handed over a gift. “Congratulations, Lin Zheng.”
Lin Zheng took the gift. “Thank you. By the way…”
Lin Zheng glanced at the cool, university-student-looking guy standing behind Wu Yu, who was obviously a head shorter than him. He leaned in and whispered to Wu Yu, gossiping, “Boyfriend?”
Hearing this, Wu Yu blushed. He coughed into his fist and said, “No, he’s a student I met outside just now. He helped me out a bit.”
The cool guy behind him heard this and raised his voice. “What student? I already told you my name is Gu Zhi. And, I am your boyfriend! You clearly kissed me just now… mmmph…”
Before he could finish, Wu Yu covered his mouth.
Lin Zheng understood immediately. Wu Yu tried to explain, but Lin Zheng winked at him, signaling: It’s okay, I get it.
The young guy was dragged away by Wu Yu, questioning him as they went about whether he was trying to deny their relationship and be irresponsible.
Lin Zheng found it hilarious.
Wait, Gu Zhi… why does that name sound familiar… Gu Zhi… Wait! Isn’t that Gu Lin’s little nephew?!
Before Lin Zheng could recover from this shock, he saw Gu Lin walking towards him from outside.
Instantly, the world felt brighter.
Gu Lin, right now, you are my God!
With Gu Lin by his side, Lin Zheng felt like a superman.
Suppressing the shyness in his heart, Lin Zheng went out and greeted the guests one by one. Whenever there was a toast involved, Gu Lin took every single glass.
“President Zhao, long time no see.” After Lin Zheng greeted him, Gu Lin clinked glasses with Zhao Ming.
Zhao Ming was as steady and composed as ever.
Lin Zheng noticed someone walking over from not far behind Zhao Ming. It was Zhao Yi.
Having not seen him for a long time, Zhao Yi looked much more mature than before. He carried the aura of a leader.
Just recently, Zhao Yi had taken over the Zhao family business completely, becoming the group’s new helmsman.
“Long time no see,” Zhao Yi said, walking up to him.
Looking at the steady man before him, Lin Zheng sighed internally—a sigh of relief and gratification.
“Long time no see.”
Zhao Yi looked at his tuxedo. “You look really handsome today, my Brother.”
Lin Zheng couldn’t help but laugh. Although he had matured where he needed to, he was still like a kid in front of Lin Zheng.
Lin Zheng drank a glass of wine with him; the alcohol content was very low.
They exchanged pleasantries. Lin Zheng could feel that Zhao Yi truly seemed like a completely different person now—calmer, more reliable, and he had thoroughly let go of the past.
More precisely, it seemed he had found new motivation.
Zhao Ming was chatting with Gu Lin and went to clink glasses. The wine glass barely touched his lips before the person next to him snatched it away.
And not just once.
In the end, all that wine went into Zhao Yi’s stomach.
Later, Gu Lin secretly told Lin Zheng that Zhao Ming and Zhao Yi were actually uncle and nephew by name only, with no blood relation. This startled Lin Zheng.
Lin Zheng could guarantee that today was absolutely the most exhausting day of his life, but it was also absolutely the most fulfilling day of his entire life. Especially at the moment when, under everyone’s gaze, he placed his hand into Gu Lin’s palm. In that instant, his world became incredibly bright, like seeing a shooting star flash across a pitch-black night. But unlike a shooting star that could only grant one wish, Gu Lin could fulfill countless wishes for him.
His Gu Lin, his lover, was a shooting star that would stay in his world forever.
Gu Lin’s care for him, his pampering, his indulgence, and his love—all the things from their daily life were displayed before his eyes one by one.
Perhaps love isn’t always eternal, but he knew deep down that Gu Lin’s love for him absolutely could be.
And his love for Gu Lin was exactly the same.
The two embraced tightly under the gaze of the crowd.
The black and white tuxedos seemed to melt into one.
As applause filled with blessings rained down, Gu Lin’s eyes overflowed with love.
He could guarantee that this was absolutely the happiest moment of his life so far.
He loved this person.
Loved him inescapably.
And in this moment, he finally, thoroughly, possessed this person.
Watched by everyone, Gu Lin held Lin Zheng by the waist and tilted his head down. Lin Zheng watched that face getting closer and closer, pressed his hands against the lapels of Gu Lin’s tuxedo, and tilted his head up to meet him.
Two pairs of lips pressed together.
They parted slightly, looking at each other with smiles.
“Now, is it time to say ‘I love you’?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, my little rabbit, my baby.”
Then, their lips pressed together even more tightly.
The wedding lasted until nightfall.
After sending the guests off, the two returned to their room.
Lin Zheng stood by the window looking at the ring on his hand. Gu Lin hugged him from behind.
Lin Zheng took Gu Lin’s hand and placed it next to his own. The two rings, one large and one small, were identical. A feeling of infinite satisfaction welled up in his heart.
As he was touching the ring on Gu Lin’s hand, Gu Lin turned his hand over, palm facing up to support Lin Zheng’s hand.
Just as Lin Zheng was feeling puzzled, Gu Lin interlaced their fingers from below.
Palms touching, their warmth melted into one.
Lin Zheng whispered, “Gu Lin, meeting you might be the most correct thing I’ve done in my entire life.”
Gu Lin’s deep voice sounded in his ear. “Cunning little rabbit, don’t just steal my lines.”
Hearing this, Lin Zheng couldn’t help but laugh.
Thinking of something, he turned back expectantly. “By the way, we received so many gifts today. Let’s open them together?”
Gu Lin raised an eyebrow and tapped the tip of Lin Zheng’s nose. “To satisfy your wish, I will endure for a little while longer.”
Lin Zheng: “??”
They began opening gifts together.
Lin Zheng was incredibly happy looking at the various gifts taken out of the boxes. He picked up a square box and recognized at a glance that it was from Yan Yang. Although Yan Yang used to tease him all the time, for such a formal occasion, he surely would have restrained himself.
What did Yan Yang give him? Lin Zheng opened the box expectantly and saw the item inside. Inside lay a brand new, rod-shaped object.
Lin Zheng: “…”
A few seconds later, an angry roar erupted in the hotel room.
“Yan Yang! I’m going to kill you!”
Lin Zheng furiously threw the thing in his hand into the trash can. This time, it was Gu Lin who personally took the trash out of the room.
Lin Zheng was incredibly moved. He knew it—Gu Lin was on his side.
That night, when Lin Zheng was tired to the point of being half-dead, Gu Lin whispered in his ear, “You can only be mine.”
Lin Zheng covered his face, understanding the meaning perfectly, his entire body flushing red.
Before going to sleep, Lin Zheng asked Gu Lin for a kiss, then lay on Gu Lin’s chest and closed his eyes.
Gu Lin held the person in his arms, lovingly arranging the hair on his forehead that had now dried, and curled his lips. “Goodnight, my baby.”
Lin Zheng mumbled a response, “Goodnight, my Xiao Gu.”
Saying goodnight to each other, sleeping in each other’s arms. For the countless years to come, having you as a companion—happiness is roughly just like this.
Having you is enough.
