Chapter 125: The little dog is quite mischievous
“There’s something you need to know.”
“YanYan… doesn’t feel pain.”
An Jing sat absentmindedly in the car, Gu Fei’s words echoing in his mind: no pain receptors… Gu Fei said YanYan had never felt pain since he was a child; he couldn’t feel pain.
An Jing looked at the boy sitting beside him, talking to his parents, his clean and pretty face bearing a polite and shy smile, but his heart gradually sank, his thoughts racing.
He took out his phone, opened his browser, and searched for information on this. The more he read, the more panicked and bewildered he became. No pain meant that if he got sick or injured, he wouldn’t feel it.
He couldn’t detect it promptly, and thus couldn’t receive timely treatment.
A minor illness could become a major one. Any sudden illness could even be life-threatening…
This was serious.
That was why Gu Fei had told An Jing, in case anything happened while he wasn’t around, the parents and family needed to pay attention to him. If anything unexpected happened…
Gu Fei couldn’t imagine it.
He didn’t even want An QingYan to leave his side. But that was An QingYan’s home; it held the family affection he so desperately craved. He needed to be with his family to make up for the trauma of the past years.
“Big Brother? What’s wrong?”
“Big Brother?”
An Jing snapped back to reality, instantly composing himself. He smiled, his tone warm, “What’s wrong, YanYan?”
An QingYan, always thoughtful and sensitive, noticed his brother’s troubled expression but didn’t pry. “I wanted to ask if the Tomorrow’s Star finals are coming up soon?”
An QingYan wasn’t as reserved with his family. An Jing was busy, but he often called to chat, and their relationship had grown closer.
“The finals are coming up, next Saturday night live. The program will invite eliminated contestants back, including you.” An Jing paused, “YanYan, if you don’t want to go, don’t.”
The injury and withdrawal were still a regret for An QingYan. He worried that returning to the competition site and seeing others debut would affect his emotions.
“Big Brother, don’t worry, I’m fine now.” With time, An QingYan had let go. He still had friends there. “I want to see everyone, I miss them.”
“Especially Yu Qi. I wonder how his training is going.” He’d been in touch with Lu YuQi, but he didn’t want to disturb his training, so he’d contacted less.
Hearing the three words Lu YuQi, An Jing winced, “That kid Lu YuQi is hardworking and talented, but he needs to control his temper.”
A couple of days ago, the kid had deliberately messed with him, doing dance moves incorrectly to make him correct him repeatedly. Who knew, he’d checked the previous training videos, and the kid danced perfectly.
The little dog seemed serious on the surface, but he was actually petty. He must have still been holding a grudge about being made to clean the practice room, and was getting revenge.
“Tsk… that kid is mischievous.”
An QingYan looked suspiciously at An Jing, whose expression was a mix of disdain and amusement, teasing, “Big Brother, I feel like you quite like him?”
“Who? Like who?” An Yu, who was playing games in the front, immediately turned his head, not even bothering to stop his snacking, “Big Brother, you finally blossomed?”
An Jing: “…Everything involves you, go play your game!” He slapped An Yu’s head unceremoniously.
An Yu wailed, “Mom and Dad! Little Brother! Big Brother hit my head! What if my smart brain gets stupid?!”
An Lingkang: “Your big brother probably wants to drain the water from your brain.”
Song Shuman: “Stop yelling, you’ll scare your brother.”
An Yu: “…” I can’t stay in this family anymore!! He pitifully looked at An QingYan, placing his remaining hope on his obedient brother. YanYan would surely sympathize with his second brother.
However, his brother was still defending his friend, talking to his brother, “Yu Qi has a bad temper, but he’s kind at heart. He always helps me when I’m in trouble.”
“I know.” An Jing touched his nose, muttering in his heart, how did YanYan know he quite liked Lu YuQi? He just didn’t dislike him.
Kind at heart?
That word just didn’t fit Lu YuQi.
An Yu: “…” Little brother, aren’t you going to comfort your poor second brother? Do you see his pitiful, wronged, helpless expression?
As if hearing his fervent call, An QingYan finally noticed An Yu, showing a concerned expression, “Second Brother, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
An Yu: Awoo awoo, finally someone cares!
“Second Brother is fine.” He held back his tears, lifting his head at a 45-degree angle, feigning sadness and looking up at… the car ceiling.
Second Young Master An wiped a tear in his heart, Little Brother, with your concern, second brother is satisfied in this life!
An QingYan: “Big Brother, next time, don’t hit Second Brother, you’ll hit him silly.”
An Jing: “Okay, I’ll be gentler next time.”
An QingYan: “Mm… that’s fine.”
An Yu: “…”
Forget it, let’s just destroy everything!!!
About half an hour later, the car slowly pulled into the An family villa. The first thing everyone did after arriving home was to take An QingYan to see his bedroom.
The bedroom had been specially renovated and decorated by Song Shuman. She had put a lot of time and effort into it to make her youngest son happy.
The bedroom was bright and clean, with a simple and neat style. It was spacious, connected to a study and a walk-in closet. The bookshelves in the study were neatly arranged with various books, and the closet was filled with many new clothes, shoes, and socks.
Whenever Song Shuman went shopping, if she saw clothes suitable for her youngest son, she would buy them. She thought her son looked good in anything, so she bought more and more, unconsciously accumulating a large amount.
Besides the study and closet, there was a large balcony outside, overlooking the flowerbeds in the backyard – a very pleasant view.
Even the bathroom was much larger than the one in his room at the Lin family. An QingYan was somewhat touched, inevitably thinking of An NanYi, who had lived in the An family for nineteen years.
He wondered how he was doing, if he had returned to the Lin family.
Probably not.
An NanYi was proud and wouldn’t endure living in such a terrible family. Having lived a life of pampering as a young master in a wealthy family, how could he accept a life at the bottom of society?
“YanYan, your mother decorated this all by hand. I wanted to help, but she wouldn’t let me,” An Lingkang said.
Song Shuman followed, “YanYan, do you like it?” She looked at her youngest son expectantly.
“I love it. It’s the most beautiful room I’ve ever seen. Thank you, Mom.” A genuine joyful smile appeared on the boy’s fair and handsome face. He emphasized again, “I really like it.”
“Big Brother has a surprise for you, come with me.” An Jing mysteriously led An QingYan out, others following. They went upstairs.
They stopped outside a room.
“What’s the surprise?” An QingYan was a bit confused, but also excited.
“Open the door and see.” An Jing put a key in his brother’s palm, signaling him to open the door.
An QingYan immediately unlocked the door. Seeing the scene inside, he was stunned, then filled with surprise.
It was a large, professional practice room, similar to the one at Tomorrow’s Star. A grand piano was placed nearby, along with many other instruments, captivating An QingYan’s attention.
Seeing An QingYan’s reaction, An Jing knew his brother was thrilled. He put his arm around his brother’s shoulder, smiling, “How is it? Do you like it?”
“I love it, I really love it! Thank you, Big Brother!”
“And me, and me!” An Yu quickly joined in, standing on the other side, also putting his arm around his brother’s shoulder, full of pride, “Although Big Brother paid for it, I oversaw the renovation. Shouldn’t you thank me too, YanYan?”
“Mm, thank you, Second Brother!”
He was truly happy.
Something he hadn’t dared to dream of had actually come true.
He was so fortunate to have all this.
…
As the sun set and the moon rose, night fell.
An QingYan hadn’t danced since his arm fracture. Now that he was healed, he spent the evening in the practice room playing the piano and dancing.
He even excitedly rolled around on the floor a few times.
Meanwhile, An Jing called the other three to his room. His expression was serious, “Mom, Dad, and An Yu, I have something important to tell you, about YanYan.”
An Yu was still playing his mobile game on the sofa, without looking up, casually said, “So serious? What is it?”
“Gu Fei told me.”
“He said YanYan… doesn’t feel pain.”
“What?!” An Yu was startled, his game ending abruptly. He tossed his phone aside, standing up to face his brother, “What do you mean?”
An Lingkang and Song Shuman reacted similarly, shocked and confused, disbelieving.
“An Jing, you just said… YanYan doesn’t feel pain?”
“How can he not feel pain?!”
“Yes, YanYan has never felt pain since he was little. Gu Fei told me himself.” An Jing had accepted this fact and appeared calm, “Gu Fei took YanYan to the hospital for a checkup.”
“The doctor said he has congenital analgesia, literally, he’s never felt any pain since he was born.”
“And… this condition is rare, and there’s currently no cure.”
