Chapter 131: Feeding the Puppy (Side CP Appearance)
An Jing returned to the training base on the evening of the next day.
Some of the dumplings made yesterday were still frozen in the refrigerator. He personally steamed some and planned to put them in a thermos. It wasn’t difficult to make dumplings anyway. Lu Yuqi, that little rascal, was lucky.
At that time, An Yu was coming out of the gym. To regain his beloved abs, he had exercised for two hours and was ravenous. He smelled the aroma and ran into the kitchen.
“Hey, Big Brother is making dumplings, I’m hungry.” He automatically picked up chopsticks and eyed the steaming dumplings in the pot.
Just as he was about to use his chopsticks, he was mercilessly stopped by his big brother.
“Get lost, get lost. If you’re hungry, make your own.”
An Yu: “…”
He watched An Jing open the thermos and pack the dumplings. He forgot about eating and raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Big Brother, I didn’t expect you to be so virtuous, making dumplings by hand. Who are you taking these for?”
“Tell me, is it for my future sister-in-law?”
An Jing said no, “For the puppy.”
“…” An Yu felt sorrow welling up, trembling, he pointed at his brother and bitterly complained: “So you’d rather feed a dog than your dear brother?”
He’s not even as good as a dog, right?
“Big Brother, Second Brother, are you making dumplings?” An Qingyan had just finished a math test paper. He came downstairs to get some air when he heard the commotion and walked into the kitchen.
An Jing finished packing and closed the lid of the thermos. He turned around and smiled at An Qingyan, “YanYan, there are some dumplings left in the pot. If you want to eat, Big Brother will get you a bowl.”
An Yu: ???
An Qingyan said he wasn’t hungry, so An Jing put the remaining dumplings into a bowl and handed it to An Yu, patting him on the shoulder, “Eat, you must be hungry after exercising for so long in the gym, eat more.”
An Yu: “…” That’s not what you said just now!
“YanYan, Big Brother’s going now.”
“Okay, goodbye, Big Brother.”
After Big Brother left, An Qingyan looked at his second brother hesitantly looking at the dumplings in his bowl. He said considerately, “Second Brother, it’s okay, eat it. I don’t think you’re fat, really.”
“…” Second Brother wiped away a tear and reluctantly put down the fragrant dumplings, patting his younger brother’s shoulder, “Little brother, you don’t understand. Second Brother will continue to lift weights.”
——
When Lu Yuqi woke up this morning, he felt dizzy and feverish. He probably practiced too late last night, sweated a lot, and then took a cold shower, resulting in a fever.
He didn’t take it seriously and continued to practice, pretending nothing was wrong.
By noon, he couldn’t hold on any longer. His fever worsened, and he almost collapsed on the floor. The staff finally noticed his unusual state and quickly sent him to the hospital for an IV drip.
In the evening, Lu Yuqi’s fever subsided somewhat. He had a strong constitution and recovered quickly. Lying in bed was too boring, so he took out his phone to play games to pass the time.
His brother, Lu Sheng, called him.
“I heard you have a fever. Are you feeling better now?”
“I’m fine.” Lu Yuqi helplessly curled his lips. He didn’t know where his brother got the news. “It’s just a minor illness. They insisted on sending me to the hospital.”
“Stay in the hospital and don’t play with your phone.” Speaking of which, Lu Sheng remembered yesterday’s incident and said helplessly:
“Lu Yuqi, don’t think I don’t know you’ve secretly hidden several phones. You play secretly, fine, but you even brazenly liked An Jing’s post. What are you trying to do?”
Lu Yuqi: “Nothing, I liked it because I wanted to.”
Lu Sheng: “Do you really like him that much?”
Hearing this, the young man’s grip on his phone tightened, a complex look flashing in his eyes. He didn’t intend to answer the question. “I’m going to play a game, I’ll hang up.”
He hung up the phone.
On the other side, Lu Sheng shook his head helplessly. His younger brother had been stubborn as a mule since childhood, disobedient and unyielding, once he decided on something, ten oxen couldn’t pull him back.
Although he said he was playing games, Lu Yuqi wasn’t really focused. He unconsciously opened Weibo, clicked on the familiar profile picture, and looked back and forth at the few messages in the private messages.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.
Lu Yuqi looked in the direction of the sound. When he saw who was standing outside, his heart trembled. He immediately closed Weibo, and the person pushed open the door and walked in, carrying a thermos lunchbox.
“I heard from the staff that you’re sick.” An Jing said, pulling up a chair and sitting beside the bed, casually placing the thermos on the bedside table. He looked at the young man whose face was a little pale.
Lu Yuqi composed himself, still maintaining his usual arrogant expression. He didn’t greet An Jing, directly asking, “How did you get here?”
This kid only calls him “An Lao Shi” or uses the formal “you” when joking or being sarcastic. An Jing was used to it. He’s here to feed the puppy, isn’t he?
He didn’t answer the question. “How are you feeling?” He raised his hand and touched the other’s forehead with the back of his hand, ignoring the other’s discomfort, concluding: “A little hot.”
He then lowered his hand.
He had just returned to the training base and learned from the staff that Lu Yuqi had a fever. It was a minor illness, and he didn’t need to visit, but he couldn’t let those dumplings go to waste.
So he came.
Lu Yuqi’s hand holding the phone tightened silently. He pursed his lips, his forehead still seemingly retaining the touch of the man’s hand, seeping into his blood, so hot that his ears turned slightly red.
An Jing asked, “How are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable?”
He was already much better; he had even argued with his brother a while ago. But at this moment, Lu Yuqi still slightly frowned, his voice revealing a sickly hoarseness, “A little uncomfortable, headache.”
Hearing this, An Jing picked up a disposable cup on the bedside table. It still had half a cup of water, but it was cold. He added some hot water and handed it to the person who did look a little weak.
He watched the young man take the cup and take a couple of sips.
Tsk… He usually looks so aggressive, but when he’s sick, he seems more obedient. He’s still a kid the same age as YanYan. He unconsciously spoke in a brotherly tone:
“Tell someone when you’re sick, don’t push yourself. What if you burn yourself out?”
Lu Yuqi lowered his eyes and hummed.
An Jing was even more surprised, even a little flattered. This kid didn’t retort; it seemed to be because he was sick. He didn’t know what to say for a moment.
His gaze fell on the thermos on the bedside table. He remembered the purpose of his visit and asked, “Have you eaten?”
The sky outside was already dark, almost eight o’clock in the evening. Lu Yuqi had eaten two hours ago, but he didn’t have much of an appetite and didn’t eat much.
He said no without changing his expression.
An Jing naturally took the lunchbox, opened the lid. The thermos kept the dumplings warm; they were still steaming, and the aroma spread throughout the small ward.
After seeing what was inside, Lu Yuqi was stunned. He had only wanted to find an excuse to message An Jing yesterday and hadn’t expected that An Jing would really bring dumplings to him.
He opened his mouth, not knowing what to say.
The next second, he heard the man’s magnetic voice ring in his ear: “The leftover dumplings from yesterday. I steamed them myself. Don’t be impolite, you have to eat them all.”
“They must be terrible,” Lu Yuqi retorted.
He was arguing again. An Jing ignored him, setting up a small table and placing the lunchbox on it. He then put chopsticks in the other’s hand, “Eat while it’s hot.”
Lu Yuqi looked at the dumplings with thin wrappers and thick fillings, paused with his chopsticks for a moment, his lips moved, and he said thank you a little uncomfortably, before lowering his head to eat.
The dumplings were delicious, but he didn’t really care about the taste.
His mind was only on the fact that An Jing made them and brought them here especially from home. Thinking of this, the corner of the young man’s lips subtly rose in a way the man couldn’t see.
An Jing asked him, “How is it? Is it delicious?”
He had half a dumpling in his mouth and mumbled indistinctly, “Not bad.”
An Jing couldn’t help but smile, leaning slightly closer, reaching out to rub the young man’s head. After rubbing, he froze, then silently retracted his hand.
This kid wasn’t as well-behaved as YanYan. Rubbing his head might make him angry. He discreetly observed Lu Yuqi’s reaction. But there was no anger, the other party just froze for a moment, as if nothing had happened, continuing to eat.
He was momentarily puzzled, his inquisitive gaze lingering on Lu Yuqi, noticing the young man’s ears turning red visibly.
What? Did his fever return?
Lu Yuqi couldn’t hold back and finally looked up at the man who had been staring at him. His expression and tone were somewhat aggressive, “What are you looking at me for?”
“Are you angry?” An Jing awkwardly averted his gaze, casually standing up. “Okay, I won’t disturb you then. Eat slowly, I’ll go back.”
Lu Yuqi didn’t speak, his peripheral vision watching the man’s tall figure leave the ward and finally disappear. He withdrew his gaze, silently looking at the dumplings in front of him, then reaching up to touch the back of his head, where An Jing had just touched.
He wasn’t angry.
He just couldn’t stand being stared at like that.
His ears were hot, and his heart was hot too.
He ate the dumplings, the corners of his mouth unconsciously curving upwards, like a cat that had stolen some fish. But when he heard approaching footsteps, they instantly flattened.
“By the way, after you’re done eating, rest well and don’t play with your phone anymore.” An Jing, who had suddenly turned back, stood at the entrance of the ward, instructing anxiously.
Lu Yuqi hummed, “I know.”
At this moment, he actually hoped An Jing would hurry and leave.
But the other person walked in again, “Right, let’s add each other on WeChat. Do you want to scan mine or should I scan yours?”
Lu Yuqi: “…Whatever.”
