Chapter 162: Selling Out His Cousin Just Like That?
Hearing Gu Fei’s words, An Jing couldn’t quite understand. What did he mean, “Don’t get any ideas about him?”
It was clearly Lu Yuqi who had ideas about him, okay? And besides, what if he did have ideas about Lu Yuqi?
An Jing’s rebellious streak kicked in. He shot a sidelong glance at Gu Fei, then turned his gaze back to the young man in the distance, speaking slowly, “So what if I do have ideas about him? What are you going to do about it?”
“You can have designs on my actual brother, so I can’t have designs on your cousin? If you think about it, you’re the one getting the better deal.” After all, Yanyan was his real brother!
After saying this, he was met with a death glare from Master Gu. He lifted his chin confidently, took a leisurely sip of tea, completely unafraid.
Gu Fei considered this calmly for a few seconds before concluding, “You have a point.”
An Jing nearly spat out his tea.
How did Lu Yuqi end up with a cousin like this?!
Selling out his own cousin just like that?!
Master Gu remained as unflappably calm as ever. He watched the filming ahead with a detached air. The director called “cut,” an assistant went over to hand An Qingyan a thermos, and a makeup artist touched up his makeup.
An Qingyan took a sip of warm water and accidentally met the man’s gaze in the distance. He quickly looked away. Master Gu sat there comfortably, enjoying himself as if he were on vacation.
A flicker of a smile crossed Gu Fei’s eyes. He continued their previous conversation, speaking to the person beside him without turning his head, “My attitude doesn’t matter. What matters is his own brother, and his own mom and dad.”
“Don’t worry, with my personal charm, I guarantee…” An Jing paused, suddenly realizing something. He slammed his teacup down on the table, his voice rising. “I never said I was interested in that kid! I almost got sidetracked by you!”
Damn it!
Why had he followed Gu Fei’s line of reasoning!
Gu Fei glanced at him and said nonchalantly, “People often speak loudly to cover up a guilty conscience.”
“…You’re the one with the guilty conscience!” An Jing shot back.
Gu Fei simply said, “Oh.”
An Jing sighed helplessly. How did he end up with a friend like this?
Meanwhile, Wu Weiguang, after reviewing the playback of the last take, called Lu Yuqi over. “Little Lu, what’s going on with you? Your state was a bit off in those last few takes. You couldn’t get into the emotion.”
“Take a look at the playback.”
Lu Yuqi, of course, knew what was wrong. It was because of what he had said to An Jing earlier. Now, with the other man sitting not far away watching him, he couldn’t concentrate or get into character at all.
“Sorry, Director Wu. I’ll adjust my state.”
“It’s okay. If you run into any problems, you can tell me.”
“Mm, I know.”
“I’ll give you fifteen minutes. Get yourself together,” Wu Weiguang said, then picked up his megaphone to announce a fifteen-minute break for everyone.
An Qingyan also felt that Lu Yuqi’s state was off. He had been fine this morning. Could it be because of what he overheard between him and Gu Fei in the dressing room? Had it been too much of a shock?
“Yuqi, what’s wrong?”
Lu Yuqi shook his head and said it was nothing.
An Qingyan was about to say more when he saw An Jing wave at them. Lu Yuqi saw it too and quickly looked away. “Your big brother is calling you.”
“Let’s go over together.”
“No, I want some time alone to adjust my state.”
“Alright then.”
An Qingyan gave Lu Yuqi a worried look, then trotted over to An Jing, pointedly ignoring a certain Mr. Gu next to him to avoid suspicion. He said to his brother, “Big Brother, it’s windy and a bit cold out here. Don’t sit here for too long.”
Gu Fei: “…”
“It’s fine, it’s fine.” Being cared for by his brother warmed his heart. What was a little cold to him? An Jing smiled and speared a piece of mango with a bamboo skewer, handing it to An Qingyan. “Have some fruit. There are some snacks here too, want some?”
“Mm, thank you, Big Brother.”
“You did great just now. I didn’t expect Yanyan to be not only good at singing and dancing, but also such a great actor. Here, have an egg tart. Don’t just stand there, sit here and eat.”
“Mm.” An Qingyan took the egg tart and sat down next to An Jing, smiling a little shyly. “No, you’re the most amazing one, Big Brother.”
On one side, it was a scene of brotherly affection. On the other, Master Gu was left out in the cold.
Gu Fei: “…”
Gu Fei cleared his throat. “Ahem…”
An Jing glanced at him and, with no conscience whatsoever, kicked him while he was down. “What’s wrong? Did you catch a cold? If you’re that weak, you shouldn’t be sitting outside. Go inside.”
Gu Fei: “…”
An Qingyan, eating his egg tart, secretly glanced at Gu Fei. Gu Fei noticed and coughed into his fist a couple more times, his performance full of genuine emotion.
But An Jing saw right through him.
You little actor, trying to pull a fast one in front of me.
“Don’t you dare…”
Before he could finish, he saw An Qingyan get up and run towards the dressing room. “Hey, Yanyan…” He had no idea what he was up to. He glanced at Gu Fei and finished his previous sentence, “Don’t you dare try to act in front of me.”
Master Gu pretended not to hear, coughed a couple more times, and committed to the performance.
Not long after, An Qingyan came back, a small blanket clutched in his arms. He trotted over, his hair fluttering in the wind, and stopped beside Gu Fei.
“Cover yourself with the blanket, don’t catch a cold.”
Gu Fei gave a reserved nod, then shot a slightly smug look at An Jing. An Jing’s mouth twitched. What the hell was this? When did this Gu guy become so childish!
An Qingyan shook the blanket open.
An Jing burst out laughing.
Gu Fei: “…”
An Qingyan said, “What are you laughing at? It’s cute.”
When he was holding it, he couldn’t see it clearly. Now that the blanket was open, the adorable little cartoon bunnies printed on it were exposed to the world.
Imagine, the mature, steady, serious, and solemn Master Gu, dressed in a suit, covered with this adorable little bunny blanket. The contrast was hilarious…
“Mm… it really suits you,” An Jing said, holding back his laughter, his face turning red.
Gu Fei’s mouth twitched slightly, his jawline tightening.
“My assistant bought it. Okay, it is a little childish,” An Qingyan said helplessly. He hadn’t expected his assistant to have such a taste. She even said the little bunny looked like him.
Why did everyone say he looked like a little bunny?
Although he did want to see the contrast of Gu Fei with this blanket, there were people coming and going on set. Master Gu had a reputation to maintain. An Qingyan had to give up.
He said, “Then don’t cover up. Just be cold.”
Gu Fei: “…”
The onlooker, An Jing, couldn’t help but laugh out loud again. Serves you right for faking a cough to get attention!
Master Gu closed his eyes, wrestled with his inner demons for a moment—a decision harder than negotiating a multi-billion dollar deal—and finally threw caution to the wind, firmly uttering two words: “I’ll cover.”
Even though he wasn’t cold at all.
And so, Master Gu watched as his little partner cruelly draped the blanket covered in cute little bunnies over him, even patting his shoulder and saying insincerely, “It really suits you.”
“Indeed,” An Jing agreed.
An Qingyan nodded in satisfaction, completely ignoring the complex, indescribable expression on Gu Fei’s handsome face. “Then I’ll head over there. You two continue your chat.”
“Wait a minute.” An Jing stuffed the box of egg tarts into his brother’s hands with a smile. “Didn’t you say you like egg tarts? Take these and eat them. You can share them with your good friend.”
“Mm, thank you, Big Brother!”
An Qingyan took the egg tarts and walked towards the other side. Halfway there, a thought flashed through his mind. His only good friend here was Yuqi. What his brother had just said…
You can share them with your good friend?
Something was fishy.
The surroundings were noisy. An Qingyan searched for a while before finding Lu Yuqi sitting quietly in a corner, lost in thought, his expression somewhat deep. If he had a cigarette, it would have perfectly fit the mood.
No cigarette, but there were egg tarts.
“Want some? My brother told me to share them with you.”
Lu Yuqi looked at the few tempting-looking egg tarts in the box and averted his gaze with a hint of disdain. “No.”
An Qingyan asked, “Really? Then I’ll give them to someone else.”
As soon as he said that, the egg tarts were snatched from his hands.
The “Arrogant King” was truly the epitome of “the mouth says no, but the body says yes.”
The “Arrogant King” was now nibbling on an egg tart, asking as he ate, “They’ve been sitting there for a while. When are they leaving?”
An Qingyan shook his head and said he didn’t know.
Those two were really quite free.
Seeing the blanket on Gu Fei from a distance, An Qingyan couldn’t help but smile again. He didn’t need to see to know what kind of expression Master Gu had on his face right now.
That old bastard, making me feel so uncomfortable, Lu Yuqi cursed inwardly. His mouth didn’t stop moving. He quickly finished one egg tart, then picked up a second, a third…
An Qingyan watched him, thinking that his eating speed was almost catching up to his second brother’s. “Slow down, no one’s going to steal them from you.”
Good thing there were only three egg tarts in there, otherwise he was afraid Lu Yuqi would just keep eating them until he didn’t need dinner. He hadn’t seen him particularly fond of desserts before.
Filming continued.
Lu Yuqi slowly got back into his state.
On the other side, Master Gu’s face grew darker and darker. He silently pulled the small blanket down a little.
Whenever someone passed by, they would cast a glance at him, and after seeing his gloomy face, they would quickly look away.
Who knew, this Master Gu had a surprisingly cute, contrasting side to him.
An Jing’s lips curled into a malicious smile. He silently took out his phone, opened the camera, and secretly aimed the lens at the person beside him. Just as he was about to press the shutter, Gu Fei’s murderous gaze swept over.
An Jing’s hand trembled, and his phone almost fell to the ground.
Just then, a staff member politely led in a well-dressed, tall, and handsome young man.
“President Wen, we’re here. This is our set. Director Wu is over there watching everyone film. I’ll go let him know.”
Wen Yan smiled, his voice gentle. “No need, I just came by to take a look. You can continue with your work, don’t mind
