Chapter 10: Marital Discord and Alcohol Abuse
Jiang Lichuan hadn’t expected his younger brother to be so reckless.
He had told Jiang Su to just splash that dog Lin Siyue, but Jiang Su had thrown it on Huo Qingyan instead.
Huo Qingyan raised his eyes: “Just a glass of red wine?”
“Yeah.” Jiang Lichuan’s confidence wavered.
Huo Qingyan’s dark eyes churned with emotion: “Then why do you look like I’m about to kill Jiang Su to cover it up?”
“Heh.” Jiang Lichuan blurted out, “Who knows?”
Jiang Lichuan had witnessed Huo Qingyan’s attitude toward Jiang Su over the past two years.
He even thought Huo Qingyan was a heartless monster, who knows if Huo Qingyan would get angry and kill someone to silence them.
Huo Qingyan was unusually speechless.
In the eyes of the Jiang family, was he a merciless demon?
“What I mean is…” Jiang Lichuan realized what he had said and tried to salvage the situation.
But Huo Qingyan didn’t give him the chance, directly instructing Zhou Fu: “Drive.”
The black Maybach disappeared into the night.
Jiang Lichuan stroked his chin in thought.
Looking at Huo Qingyan’s earlier appearance, he didn’t seem murderous, so he probably wouldn’t kill anyone.
…
By the time they arrived home, it was already past midnight.
Jiang Su slept the entire ride, and the remaining effects of the alcohol completely dissipated when the cold wind hit him as he got out of the car.
After sobering up, he realized he had publicly splashed wine on Huo Qingyan at the party and became apprehensive.
His long-standing obedience to Huo Qingyan had become instinctive.
After entering the house, he deliberately avoided Huo Qingyan’s gaze, not daring to look at him.
Using thirst as an excuse, he went to the kitchen to get water, but Huo Qingyan followed.
“Jiang Su.”
“Are you thirsty too?” Jiang Su hurriedly poured him a glass of water and tried to slip away.
But it was too late.
He was stopped by Huo Qingyan: “I thought only Jiang Lichuan thought that of me, but you do too.”
After entering the house, Jiang Su had been intentionally avoiding him.
He seemed very afraid of him.
He thought it was just that Jiang Lichuan didn’t understand him, and therefore thought that being splashed with wine meant he would do something to Jiang Su.
But the expression on Jiang Su’s face was clearly the same as Jiang Lichuan’s earlier.
“What?” Jiang Su had fallen asleep when Jiang Lichuan came earlier, so he didn’t quite understand what he meant.
“Nothing.” Huo Qingyan turned and walked away with a cold face.
Jiang Su stared at his back for a long time before letting out a low self-deprecating laugh.
This was Huo Qingyan’s patience with him.
After at most three sentences, Huo Qingyan would start to get impatient.
…
Jiang Su sat downstairs for a long time.
When he went upstairs, Huo Qingyan had already showered and gone to bed.
Jiang Su tiptoed into the bathroom and saw Huo Qingyan’s wine-stained shirt.
He picked up the shirt and threw it in the trash can.
After showering, he came out to find Huo Qingyan breathing deeply, already fast asleep.
He remembered something he heard at the party.
Huo Qingyan had been helping Lin Siyue handle the Lin family’s affairs recently.
No wonder he had been so busy lately.
No wonder Huo Qingyan, who usually didn’t like socializing, had actually attended the party.
Jiang Su turned back to the bathroom, braving the cold winter night, went outside and threw the wine-stained shirt into a trash can.
Clothes that can’t be cleaned have to be thrown away.
What if a marriage is beyond repair?
…
The next day…
Huo Qingyan woke up earlier than usual.
The space beside him was empty. He reached out to touch it, the bed was already cold.
His biological clock was usually very accurate; Jiang Su would prepare his breakfast beforehand.
But today, Jiang Su had gotten up too early.
Unusually early.
After a quick wash, Huo Qingyan went downstairs and saw Jiang Su in the living room.
Jiang Su was sitting cross-legged on the sofa, wearing a thin silk pajama set, and operating his phone, looking very focused.
The room had the heating on, but because Huo Qingyan didn’t like it too warm, the temperature wasn’t very high, and wearing thin pajamas would still be a bit cold.
Huo Qingyan frowned slightly and walked towards him.
Jiang Su didn’t know what he was looking at, and didn’t even notice Huo Qingyan approaching.
“Aren’t you cold?” Only when Huo Qingyan spoke did Jiang Su slowly raise his head to look at him.
It was a look that Huo Qingyan found very strange.
Huo Qingyan couldn’t describe it, but it was a look he had never seen in Jiang Su’s eyes before.
“I’ll make breakfast,” Jiang Su got up and went into the kitchen to make breakfast for Huo Qingyan, just like countless other mornings.
Looking at it this way, there seemed to be nothing unusual.
But Huo Qingyan still felt something was wrong.
This intuition was confirmed when Zhou Fu called.
Jiang Su had just entered the kitchen when Zhou Fu called.
“What happened?” Zhou Fu was a very competent assistant, and he knew Huo Qingyan’s schedule very well, and also knew that under normal circumstances, Huo Qingyan wouldn’t have woken up yet, so a call at this time must be urgent.
Zhou Fu paused: “It’s a bit complicated, should I send you a WeChat message?”
Huo Qingyan patiently said: “Okay.”
After hanging up, Huo Qingyan opened WeChat and saw more than ten unread messages.
They were all from Zhou Fu, screenshots from Weibo’s trending searches and various social media platforms.
“Jiang Su suspected of marital discord and alcoholism,” the picture was of Jiang Su drinking at last night’s party, the photo was not high-definition, but those who knew him could recognize him at a glance.
[Jiang Su suspected of interfering in the “Scholarly Husband and Husband”]
[Jiang Su deliberately splashed wine at the party, suspected of hype to make a comeback…]
They were all negative trending searches and news, Huo Qingyan didn’t have the patience to read on.
As a business celebrity, the entertainment industry occasionally had brainless people trying to ride his coattails and make trouble for him.
These weren’t big things in his eyes.
Huo Qingyan only replied to Zhou Fu with three words: “Deal with it.”
Zhou Fu guessed that Huo Qingyan’s patience only lasted until he saw the first three screenshots, and was about to send a message to politely persuade Huo Qingyan to pay attention to Jiang Su’s emotions.
But after seeing the three words Huo Qingyan sent, Zhou Fu could only reply: “Okay.”
“Deal with it” meant to remove them all.
Huo Qingyan probably also understood that Jiang Su had probably seen these trending searches and news, so his mood was not good.
So, when Jiang Su came out with the breakfast, Huo Qingyan said, “I’ve had Zhou Fu deal with those false news online.”
Huo Qingyan finished speaking, waiting for Jiang Su to happily thank him.
Whenever he did something for Jiang Su, Jiang Su would be particularly happy, he always had been.
Jiang Su just glanced at him indifferently, without a smile or thanks.
He had indeed seen those trending searches and news a long time ago.
He took out his phone to search online, and found that all those trending searches and news were gone.
Only Huo Qingyan had that kind of power, the ability to make all those negative news disappear in an instant.
Jiang Su’s Weibo private messages, however, were flooded with endless curses from Huo Qingyan and Lin Siyue’s CP fans.
