Chapter 13: Very well-behaved, and very easy-going
Zhou Fu even started worrying for Jiang Su.
He knew that collecting wine was one of Huo Qingyan’s few hobbies.
However, Young Master Jiang had always been obedient to Mr. Huo, why would he suddenly make such a big move?
Young Master Jiang couldn’t possibly not know how much Mr. Huo cherished those wines.
Mr. Huo wasn’t usually kind to Young Master Jiang anyway, so who knows how angry he would get…
Huo Qingyan looked up and saw Zhou Fu’s worried expression.
—Clack!
He let go of his hand, and his phone fell onto the desk with a slight sound.
Zhou Fu was startled by the sound: “Mr. Huo?”
Huo Qingyan’s voice was emotionless: “What are you thinking about?”
Zhou Fu had been with Huo Qingyan for many years and knew that Huo Qingyan was most terrifying at this time; nervously swallowing his saliva: “About the blind date tonight.”
It wasn’t entirely fabricated; he was the same age as Huo Qingyan and still single, with his family urging him, he had a blind date tonight.
Huo Qingyan raised an eyebrow: “You can leave work on time today.”
“Ah?” Zhou Fu was surprised; when did his Mr. Huo become so understanding?
“Take your phone.” Huo Qingyan picked up his documents and continued to read.
Leaving Huo Qingyan’s office, Zhou Fu was still like he was sleepwalking.
Back in his own office, he belatedly remembered something and commented under Jiang Lichuan’s Moments: “So many bottles of wine.”
Jiang Lichuan and the others should be able to guess that Mr. Huo already knew about it, right?
In the CEO’s office.
As soon as Zhou Fu left, Huo Qingyan threw the documents back on his desk.
Jiang Su actually dared to open his wine!
And opened a whole row of them!
Huo Qingyan clenched his fists, took two deep breaths, before suppressing his anger somewhat.
All those wines he had painstakingly collected over the years…
But soon, he calmed down again.
Jiang Su had always had a bit of a spoiled young master’s temperament; simple-minded, after knowing that he didn’t like him, it was normal to throw a tantrum.
Thinking about it this way, Huo Qingyan also felt that he could tolerate Jiang Su opening his wine.
Huo Qingyan took out his phone and sent a WeChat message to Jiang Su.
…
“Damn, I forgot I added Zhou Fu’s WeChat before!”
Jiang Su came out after getting his stitches, and just heard Jiang Lichuan say this in frustration.
“Why did you add Zhou Fu’s WeChat?” Jiang Su was surprised; Jiang Lichuan didn’t get along with Huo Qingyan, how could he have Zhou Fu’s WeChat.
“I wanted to poach Zhou Fu to work for me before, offering him a seven-figure annual salary, a house, and a car! Although he refused on the spot, I added his WeChat, waiting for him to regret it.”
Jiang Lichuan felt depressed when he thought about it: “Damn, I waited half a year, he didn’t regret it, but he was loyal to Huo Qingyan.”
Jiang Su smiled upon hearing this: “Special Assistant Zhou is a man of principle.”
It’s impossible to poach someone who can be Huo Qingyan’s special assistant with just money.
Jiang Lichuan smiled wryly: “You’re still laughing, he definitely told Huo Qingyan about you opening his wine.”
—Jiang Su’s smile froze on his face—
He quickly took out his phone, found Jiang Lichuan’s Moments post, and saw Zhou Fu’s comment.
After a long while, he finally squeezed out one word: “Damn.”
At the same time, a new message popped up on WeChat.
Huo Qingyan: “Come home for dinner at Huo’s tonight.”
…
That evening…
Huo Zhenheng sent a driver to pick Jiang Su up from the villa to Huo’s family’s old house for dinner.
The driver respectfully opened the back door: “Mr. Jiang, the young master is going directly to the old house from the company, Old Master Huo instructed me to pick you up.”
“Thank you,” Jiang Su smiled calmly and composedly.
But actually, he was very nervous inside.
As soon as he got in the car, he slumped against the back of the seat as if drained of energy.
After Zhou Fu commented on Jiang Lichuan’s Moments, Huo Qingyan sent him a WeChat message; it was naturally not just to remind him about dinner at the Huo family’s old house that evening.
Huo Qingyan was hinting that he already knew about the wine.
Opening the wine was momentarily exhilarating.
Thinking about it now… it was still exhilarating.
Huo Qingyan himself admitted that he married him just for convenience.
And after marriage, he had tried for two years, yet Huo Qingyan didn’t have any feelings for him.
Since effort was useless, he might as well give up.
But the moment he saw Huo Qingyan, the psychological preparation he had made completely crumbled.
As the car stopped at Huo’s house, before Jiang Su got out, he turned his head and saw Huo Qingyan standing at the entrance through the window.
Huo’s old house was a century-old mansion with a long history.
Huo Qingyan was wearing a neat black long overcoat, over a black suit with impeccable ironing, his handsome face was calm and serene.
Behind him was a heavy solid wood gate, making him appear somewhat lonely.
“Mr. Jiang, please get out of the car,” the driver’s voice brought him back to his senses.
Jiang Su steadied himself before getting out of the car and walking towards Huo Qingyan.
From where he got out of the car, it was only two short meters to Huo Qingyan.
And in this short distance, as he looked at Huo Qingyan’s face, the sadness, heartbreak, and a hint of retreat he felt all dissipated.
Letting go, he couldn’t do it.
His mind, like his heart, was honest, and he spoke cautiously as always: “Have you been waiting long?”
The moment Huo Qingyan heard his voice, he subtly curled the corners of his lips, but the curve was so small that Jiang Su didn’t notice: “Come in.”
He hadn’t misread Jiang Su.
Jiang Su was very well-behaved and easy-going.
Even though Jiang Su knew he didn’t like him, he still stayed by his side wholeheartedly.
…
Huo’s old house was very large, and the lighting in the house was designed and installed by professional designers, looking very stylish.
But every time Jiang Su came to Huo’s old house, he felt that the lighting was dim, appearing gloomy, which made him feel uncomfortable.
Along the way, servants respectfully greeted them.
“Mr. Jiang, Young Master.”
The servants were all expressionless, and when they greeted them, the degree to which they bowed was as if it had been precisely measured.
The further they went, the stronger the discomfort became.
As they approached the hall, Huo Qingyan, who was walking ahead, suddenly stopped.
They were walking on a narrow path, only allowing one person to pass at a time, and Huo Qingyan’s stop blocked the way.
Therefore, Jiang Su had to stop as well.
He looked at Huo Qingyan in some confusion.
Huo Qingyan stood in the shadows of the trees, his expression unclear, his whole person appearing gloomy and cold.
“Go back after dinner, I’ll stay at the old house tonight.” Compared to his usual aloofness and coldness when speaking to Jiang Su, Huo Qingyan’s tone now was like an icicle, with a deliberate sharpness.
Jiang Su’s heart skipped a beat, he sneered: “You’re already rushing me away before dinner?”
