Chapter 140: Then Why Did You Get Back Together With Him?
The press conference had invited many industry peers.
When Jiang Su went out, he discovered Jiang Ying was also there.
Jiang Ying spotted Jiang Su from a distance and waved.
Jiang Su smiled back, and Jiang Ying made a “Go for it!” gesture.
The press conference ended smoothly.
Jiang Ying waited for Jiang Su backstage.
“Why didn’t you say anything before coming back?”
Jiang Su smiled appeasingly. “It was a tight schedule, and I was afraid I wouldn’t have time to go home, so I didn’t tell you guys.”
Jiang Ying pursed her lips. “You always have time for a meal, don’t you?”
“Teacher Jiang?” The door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
Jiang Su and Jiang Ying both looked toward the door and saw it was Bai Mu.
Bai Mu looked surprised. “President Jiang?”
He naturally recognized Jiang Ying, the boss of an entertainment company.
Jiang Ying smiled and nodded. “Hello.”
“What’s up?” Jiang Su asked him.
Bai Mu’s expression relaxed. “I haven’t seen you in a long time. Since we have the rare chance, I wanted to ask you to dinner.”
“Next time. I’m having dinner with my family tonight.” Second Sister was already here ambushing him; he wasn’t going to get away without eating with her.
Bai Mu nodded in understanding. “Alright, we’ll find another chance.”
Bai Mu didn’t linger. He spoke his piece, closed the door, and left.
Jiang Ying asked Jiang Su, “Are you close with Bai Mu?”
“Pretty close, I guess.” They had spent two or three months on the same crew; it would be weird if they weren’t.
Jiang Ying said, seemingly offhandedly, “You’re both very busy. You probably won’t have many chances to get together again.”
“Yeah.”
At first, Jiang Su didn’t think anything was wrong.
Only after a moment did it click. “Second Sister, you… what do you mean?”
Jiang Ying’s expression turned serious. “Not everyone you meet is suitable to be a friend.”
Jiang Su immediately understood that Jiang Ying was telling him to keep his distance from Bai Mu. Her opinion was likely related to Bai Mu’s past.
“Second Sister, that’s prejudice.” Jiang Su’s expression also grew serious.
“Then just call it prejudice.” She felt that Bai Mu and Jiang Su were not cut from the same cloth. A nodding acquaintance was fine.
It was rare for him to be back in Qingyang City, so Jiang Su wasn’t going to waste time arguing. He skillfully changed the subject.
“Where are we eating?”
“The usual place. Eldest Brother already booked it.”
…
The “usual place” was, of course, the Qingyang Grand Hotel.
Many of Jiang Zhaoyu’s and Jiang Ying’s dinners were held here.
Jiang Zhaoyu asked Jiang Su a few questions about the film set and reminded him to take care of his health.
After that, the food arrived.
Jiang Su noticed an extra set of cutlery. “Is someone else coming?”
Jiang Zhaoyu was about to speak when the sound of the door opening interrupted him.
Jiang Su looked up and saw that the person walking in was Huo Qingyan.
Jiang Ying glanced at Jiang Zhaoyu. She hadn’t known Huo Qingyan was coming.
Jiang Zhaoyu explained, “I arranged to meet with President Huo a few days ago. We’ll just eat together.”
It had to be about business, which was why they had arranged a dinner meeting.
After speaking, Jiang Zhaoyu studied Jiang Su.
Jiang Su acted as if nothing was wrong and picked up his chopsticks. “Can we eat now?”
“Eat.” Jiang Zhaoyu paused, then turned to Huo Qingyan. “President Huo, please, eat.”
Throughout the meal, Huo Qingyan and Jiang Zhaoyu discussed business, while Jiang Su and Jiang Ying chatted idly.
Near the end of the meal, Jiang Licuan and Jiang Zhishen hurried in.
Jiang Licuan announced as he entered, “I’ve been busy organizing an amusement park lately, so busy…”
Jiang Zhishen poured himself a glass of water, drank it, and said, “The lab is swamped. I have to go back after I eat.”
“What amusement park?” Jiang Su could understand his third brother being busy at the lab, but what amusement park was Jiang Licuan organizing?
Jiang Ying chimed in, “He’s planning to open an amusement park.”
Jiang Su: “…”
Jiang Zhishen ate like he was going to war, finishing in ten minutes.
He put down his chopsticks, stood up, and patted Jiang Su’s shoulder. “Keep it up. Take care of yourself. I’m leaving.”
He was gone in a flash.
Jiang Su glanced down and noticed Jiang Zhishen had left his phone.
He grabbed the phone and chased after him.
He stepped out and saw Jiang Zhishen and Fu Jin standing in the hallway.
Hearing the door, they both looked over at Jiang Su.
Jiang Su held up the phone. “Third Brother, your phone.”
“I’m going to the restroom. Give it to your third sister-in-law.” Jiang Zhishen said this and hurried off toward the restroom.
Fu Jin’s expression became very strange.
Jiang Su handed the phone over. “My third brother’s phone.”
Fu Jin’s face instantly flushed red, but he took the phone without a word.
“Uh…” Huh, is Teacher Fu shy?
Who would have thought that Teacher Fu, who gives no one any face, would get embarrassed just because of one sentence from Third Brother?
Fu Jin was a bit awkward and gave a dry laugh. “Your third brother is always dropping things, and he’s so messy…”
Jiang Su replied casually, “Then why did you get back together with him?”
“Ah??”
Fu Jin’s face clearly said: Are you really his brother?
“On the show, you said… if there was resurrection in this world, you’d believe in a broken mirror being mended.” Jiang Su had thought at the time that his third brother was doomed to be single for life.
But he hadn’t expected him to win Teacher Fu back in just three months.
“I was just saying that to scare your third brother, to vent a little.” Although in the end, it didn’t scare Jiang Zhishen at all.
Jiang Su hadn’t expected that to be the reason. “What if Third Brother had taken it seriously?”
Fu Jin smiled. “Do you know the origin of ‘Pojing chongyuan’ (broken mirror mended)?”
“I’ve heard of it.” Jiang Su was confused, unsure what Fu Jin meant.
Fu Jin repeated, “A loving couple, forced to separate when their country fell; the husband broke a mirror in two, each keeping half as a token, waiting to be reunited. That’s the origin of ‘Pojing chongyuan’.”
“For me, ‘Pojing chongyuan’ isn’t about a broken relationship, it’s about meeting again. Besides, your third brother really did have his reasons back then.”
After hearing this, Jiang Su was silent for a moment, then chuckled. “So that’s how it is.”
Fu Jin wiped Jiang Zhishen’s phone screen with his finger and said slowly, “Although I don’t know what the situation is between you and President Huo, your third brother and I both hope you’ll be happy.”
Jiang Su was slightly taken aback.
“Ah Jin!”
As soon as Fu Jin saw Jiang Zhishen, he lifted his chin and said disdainfully, “If you didn’t come out, I was about to go fish you out of the bathroom.”
Jiang Zhishen: “I don’t believe you.”
Fu Jin: “?”
Jiang Zhishen: “Would you be willing to go into the bathroom to fish me out in your new clothes? When have I ever been more important than your new clothes in your eyes?”
Fu Jin looked down at his outfit. It was indeed the first time he was wearing it.
“Good that you know.”
Jiang Su, forgotten by both of them: “???”
Is this the daily life of Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law?
