After Giving Up, My Rich Ex-Husband Begged Me to Return CHAPTER 144

Chapter 144: Is This President Huo Himself?

On the third day of the Lunar New Year, Fu Jin came to visit the set of Da Ye.

Jiang Su personally went to pick up Fu Jin and personally showed him around the set. They chatted and laughed, getting along harmoniously.

People who didn’t know the inside story ran to ask Xu Mocun: “Are Teacher Jiang and Teacher Fu that close outside of the show?”

Anyone who had watched Are You Happy After the Divorce? knew how Jiang Su and Fu Jin had battled it out on the program.

Most artists who didn’t get along privately wouldn’t show it openly, but Jiang Su’s enthusiasm toward Fu Jin didn’t look like acting at all; it seemed completely genuine.

Xu Mocun was the only person on the entire crew, other than the two involved, who knew the truth.

But he couldn’t say that Fu Jin was Jiang Su’s third sister-in-law.

So, Xu Mocun gave the same reply to everyone who came to ask: “Yes, their personalities are similar, so they get along quite well.”

Once business was handled and no one else was around, Fu Jin asked Jiang Su with concern, “Director Li is famously strict. Filming must be tough, right?”

“Not at all. Director Li likes me a lot.” Jiang Su smiled with a hint of pride, carrying the spirited air of a youth.

At first glance, the Jiang siblings didn’t look alike, but after spending time with them, one could see subtle similarities in their features.

When Jiang Su smiled, he bore a striking resemblance to Jiang Zhishen.

Fu Jin smiled warmly. “When does it wrap?”

“Barring any accidents, it should be April.”

Crime and Fiend is a huge hit. The Best Supporting Actor award in a couple of months is practically yours,” Fu Jin said, his tone tinged with a bit of regret, feeling that Jiang Su playing a supporting role was a bit of a waste.

Jiang Su smiled nonchalantly. “It doesn’t matter.” Fu Jin could see that Jiang Su truly didn’t care, so he didn’t say anything more.

With Jiang Su’s God-given talent and his own hard work, becoming famous was only a matter of time.

After the set visit, Fu Jin didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he insisted on returning to the hotel with Jiang Su, saying he wanted to see where he was staying.

Jiang Su found it a bit puzzling, but he didn’t think too much of it and took Fu Jin back to the hotel.

It wasn’t until he pushed open the door and saw the room full of people that he understood why Fu Jin had insisted on coming back with him.

“Little Seven is back!”

Jiang Ying was watching a drama on his tablet.

Jiang Licuan was lying on his bed playing games.

Jiang Zhaoyu was studying the potted plant on his desk.

Jiang Zhishen was looking at data analysis on his computer.

Jiang Su stood frozen in the doorway. “Why are you guys here?”

“To see you! Surprise!” Jiang Licuan jumped off the bed. “Let’s go, let’s go, time to eat.”

Jiang Su took them to the nearest restaurant.

During the meal, Jiang Zhaoyu finally told him, “Mainly because everyone will be very busy coming up. When you wrap filming, we might not have time to help you celebrate, so we agreed to come to the set early to see you.”

Jiang Zhaoyu and the others had traveled a long way to have a meal with Jiang Su, and they went back early the next morning.

On the seventh day of the New Year, Jiang Su came across a Moments post from Zhou Fu. The content was just a single image: My life is so hard.jpg.

Presumably, Huo Qingyan had done something to make things difficult for Zhou Fu again.

Jiang Su, expressing deep sympathy, liked Zhou Fu’s post.

Zhou Fu immediately sent a WeChat message to Jiang Su: “Mr. Jiang, do you know what day it is today? President Huo’s temper is terrible today. I stepped into the office with my left foot first, and he made me go out and come back in again!!”

The seventh day of the New Year…

Jiang Su thought for a long time before finally remembering what day it was.

[It’s the day he and I got divorced.]

Seeing the message from Jiang Su, Zhou Fu almost shed tears. If he had known it was such a day, he would have asked for leave in advance.

Zhou Fu: “I can never repay this life-saving grace!”

Jiang Su: “…”

When he finished work that evening, Jiang Su saw that Huo Qingyan had posted a Moment.

The content was a photo of a large table full of dishes that actually looked quite presentable.

Beneath the post was a pile of comments from acquaintances.

Shen Xiumo: “I’m on my way to your house. I’m bringing my own bowl to test the poison.”

Zhou Fu: “President Huo, I have a document to bring over right now.”

Eldest Brother: “President Huo made this himself?”

Old Six: “That dish on the side seems burnt.”

Second Sister: “Is this President Huo himself?”

Third Brother: “Is cooking to vent anger the trend now?”

Jiang Su didn’t know what to say, so he silently clicked ‘like’.

In early April, filming for the entire series of Da Ye wrapped.

On the day of the wrap, Da Ye‘s official Weibo account released a short plot teaser.

Jiang Su was a main cast member, so he had several shots in the teaser.

Just those few shots were pushed onto the trending topics by netizens and dominated all major short video platforms.

[Su Su’s costume look!! Amazing!! Ahhh!!]

[When will it air? When will it air? Can it air this year?!]

[Now all male leads in ancient romance novels have a face!]

[Why don’t we lock this man, Jiang Su, in the studio city and make him film costume dramas to death!! I want to watch his dramas every single day!!]

This comment was voted to the top, with countless replies underneath:

1st Floor: “Look everyone, another one has gone crazy.”

2nd Floor [Director of Qingshan Mental Hospital]: “We’re running out of beds, but for the sake of you also liking Su Su, we can reluctantly take you in.”

3rd Floor: “Sister, I think so too, ahhh…”

4th Floor: “Squad to lock Jiang Su in the studio city (1/300000)”

Even people on WeChat who didn’t usually contact him sent messages asking Jiang Su when Da Ye would air.

Fourth Sister asked every single day: “Is the date set? Any insider news? If you still consider me your sister, tell me quickly.”

Jiang Su: “I don’t know.”

Getting a TV drama to air on satellite TV is a long process.

Especially for a team as meticulous as Da Ye‘s; the post-production editing and scoring were major undertakings, so the broadcast time was hard to say.

Da Ye had filmed for a full ten months. Jiang Su was indeed a bit tired, and Xu Mocun hadn’t been home in a long time, so he decided to give both himself and Xu Mocun a break.

Xu Mocun went back to his hometown, and Jiang Su decided to travel abroad.

The weather in April was perfect for travel.

When Xu Mocun left, he reminded Jiang Su that his popularity was soaring now, so he should be careful when going out.

Jiang Su booked a 5:00 AM flight and got up in the middle of the night to head out.

In the departure lounge, Jiang Su ran into an acquaintance.

“Teacher Jiang!”

“Bai Mu?”

The last time he saw Bai Mu was at the launch of Crime and Fiend.

He looked behind Bai Mu. “You’re alone?”

“Yeah.” Bai Mu sat down next to him. “I haven’t rested in a long time. I have an event abroad in two days, so I’m sneaking away early to have fun for a couple of days.”

The company Bai Mu signed with was average and accepted any event or announcement. Taking advantage of Crime and Fiend‘s moderate success, they had Bai Mu take any gig that could make money.

Xu Mocun was right; not everyone could be like Jiang Su. Jiang Su only said, “That’s good.”

Bai Mu asked him, “Are you going on a trip?”

Jiang Su nodded. “Yes.”

Bai Mu proposed, “I haven’t decided where to go yet. Teacher Jiang, can you take me along?”
