After Giving Up, My Rich Ex-Husband Begged Me to Return Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Only Huo Qingyan Didn’t Know

Huo Qingyan then called Zhou Fu in and instructed him to handle Cheng Xishi’s matter.

With Cheng Xishi’s matter resolved, Jiang Su was about to get up and go home, but Huo Qingyan stopped him.

“Have lunch together.”

Jiang Su could only sit back down.

Obediently following every instruction, like a robot.

Huo Qingyan began to handle his work and ignored Jiang Su.

Zhou Fu was highly efficient, and Cheng Xishi’s production team reacted quickly. The trending topic on Weibo had already been arranged.

The premiere would be held as scheduled, and the film would be released on schedule.

Jiang Su saw this news on Weibo and felt relieved.

He put his phone aside and quietly waited for Huo Qingyan to finish work so they could have lunch together.

When Huo Qingyan finished work, it was already one o’clock in the afternoon.

The two found a nearby restaurant to eat.

Near the end of the meal, Huo Qingyan noticed that Jiang Su hadn’t spoken much and hadn’t eaten much either. He usually talked a lot when they ate together.

Huo Qingyan put down his chopsticks and asked, “Don’t you like the food?”

Jiang Su denied it: “No.”

Huo Qingyan called the waiter and ordered a peanut butter dessert for Jiang Su.

Jiang Su looked up.

Huo Qingyan said casually, “I remember you like desserts?”

Jiang Su smiled, a little forced, “Mm.”

The peanut butter dessert arrived quickly.

It was a small, delicate bowl, finished in a few bites.

The restaurant was close to the Huo Corporation; Jiang Su had driven.

After the meal, Jiang Su watched Huo Qingyan leave before going to the open-air parking lot to drive home.

Just as he reached his car and was about to open the door, an egg flew from somewhere and hit his car.

With a “pop,” the egg broke, and the yolk splattered on the car.

Jiang Su turned around, and a pair of nail clippers flew towards his face.

Jiang Su ducked, but the nail clippers still grazed his face, leaving a small cut.

“Shameless!”

“Homewrecker!”

“Still clinging to Huo Qingyan!”

Along with the insults, things kept being thrown at Jiang Su.

Milk tea, coffee, and various small objects…

There were many people, and they came fiercely. Jiang Su had nowhere to hide and could only raise his hands to protect his face.

At the same time, he understood from the familiar insults that these were Huo Qingyan and Lin Siyue’s CP fans.

In the distance, someone shouted, “What are you doing! I’m calling the police!”

The next second, the CP fans who had been throwing things and cursing scattered.

When Jiang Su lowered his arms, there was no one there.

The person who had spoken up for him earlier also came over.

Jiang Su looked closely and recognized him: “Brother Ran?”

The person was Cheng Xishi’s manager, Ran Zhe.

Ran Zhe frowned at him: “You…”

Jiang Su had been hit with a bunch of things; his white down jacket was covered in various stains, looking rather disheveled.

Ran Zhe was a top manager in the industry with extensive connections and knew Jiang Su’s identity.

The young master of the Jiang family had actually been treated like this by a group of people.

Ran Zhe didn’t know what to say for a moment.

“It’s fine, it’s just a jacket. If it can’t be cleaned, I’ll just throw it away.” Jiang Su looked unconcerned.

He then asked Ran Zhe, “Why are you here?”

Ran Zhe pointed towards a minivan, “Having dinner with Xishi.”

The minivan door opened at that moment.

A man in a black long down jacket got out of the car, wearing a mask and a baseball cap, completely covered.

But Jiang Su still recognized Cheng Xishi from his familiar figure.

Cheng Xishi strode towards them.

He pulled down his mask and asked Jiang Su, “Are you okay?”

Jiang Su shook his head, smiling regretfully, “I’m fine, but it’s a pity about my down jacket. I only wore it for the first time today.”

Cheng Xishi didn’t smile; he turned to Ran Zhe, “Brother Ran, let me talk to Jiang Su for a moment.”

Ran Zhe nodded and returned to the car.

“The premiere can be held as scheduled. Thank you.” Although it was something to be happy about, Cheng Xishi didn’t look very good.

“Thank me for what? This has nothing to do with…” Jiang Su wanted to make up an excuse.

But Cheng Xishi didn’t give him the chance, “You blocked my WeChat and phone number. Huo Qingyan forced you, didn’t he?”

Jiang Su took a deep breath: “It was voluntary.”

Cheng Xishi wouldn’t believe it, of course.

Looking at Jiang Su, he said persuasively, “A healthy and normal relationship is built on respect and care, not compromise and concession, much less endless demands with no return.”

Cheng Xishi’s words were sharp.

So sharp that Jiang Su’s self-deceptive heart had nowhere to escape.

Jiang Su was a little annoyed, “Grand principles are for others; feelings are between two people and don’t need others’ judgment.”

Cheng Xishi frowned and was about to speak, but paused when he saw Jiang Su’s red neck, “What’s wrong with your neck?”

Cheng Xishi asked again, “Are you allergic? Did you eat peanuts?”

While filming, everyone lived together, and half the crew knew Jiang Su was allergic to peanuts.

Jiang Su pulled up the zipper of his down jacket and said expressionlessly, “You should worry about yourself; don’t worry about me.”

Then he got into his car.

“Jiang Su!”

He vaguely heard Cheng Xishi calling him, but didn’t stop, starting the car and leaving.

Driving quite far, he stopped at a pharmacy and bought allergy medicine.

He was allergic to peanuts.

Everyone knew except Huo Qingyan.

He could have refused the peanut butter dessert Huo Qingyan ordered.

But he ultimately couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Fortunately, the dessert was small, with only a little peanut, so he only had a mild allergy; the medicine would take care of it.

For the next week.

Jiang Su didn’t go out much.

He woke up on time every morning to prepare two breakfasts for Huo Qingyan.

In the evening, he would prepare dinner and wait for Huo Qingyan to come home.

Very obedient…

He spoke even less.

So little that Huo Qingyan felt it was unusual.

At dinner, Huo Qingyan took the initiative to say, “I’ll have breakfast at home tomorrow.”

Jiang Su didn’t look up, “Okay.”

He knew Lin Siyue was being discharged tomorrow.

Huo Qingyan said, “I’ll take you to the hot spring resort in a couple of days.”

Jiang Su still only replied with one word: “Okay.”

Huo Qingyan frowned slightly, “Come back before New Year’s Eve; we’ll have dinner together.”

Jiang Su finally looked up, “New Year’s Eve is coming soon?”

After their marriage, the Huo and Jiang families would have a reunion dinner before New Year’s Eve.

Huo Qingyan looked at him, “There’s still a week left.”

“I’ll follow your arrangements.” Jiang Su lowered his head again and continued eating.

Huo Qingyan put down his chopsticks, his tone unusually serious, “Jiang Su.”

Jiang Su looked bewildered, “Mm?”

Huo Qingyan looked at him for a while before asking, “What’s wrong with you?”
