Chapter 57: Is This an Earthly Thing?
“Closed off to visitors…” Jiang Su found Huo Zhenheng’s actions strange.
After Huo Zhenheng retired from Huo Corporation five years ago, he didn’t go abroad to live with Huo Qingyan’s grandfather and mother. He lived alone in the old house and rarely attended social events.
There was no need to close himself off to visitors.
Zhou Fu continued, “I’ve been there several times, but I haven’t seen Mr. Huo.”
In the past two years, Zhou Fu and Jiang Su had interacted quite a bit, and he knew Jiang Su wasn’t heartless.
Moreover, it was a matter of life and death. Even if the other party was Huo Qingyan, Jiang Su would certainly help regardless of past grievances.
Jiang Su thoughtfully said, “I’ll go to his villa first.”
Xu Mo, beside him, pursed his lips, hesitating to look at Jiang Su, but still said nothing, turning to drive.
“Mr. Jiang, I’ll go with you.” Zhou Fu quickly followed.
If he couldn’t find Mr. Huo, he would lose his job.
…
Jiang Su didn’t expect that he would be coming to Huo Qingyan’s villa again so soon.
Standing in front of the door, he turned to Zhou Fu, “Enter the password.”
Zhou Fu paused slightly, “The password hasn’t been changed.”
Jiang Su hesitated for two seconds before entering the password.
Sure enough, the door opened.
The password was his and Huo Qingyan’s birthdays, the one he had set when he first moved in.
The last time Huo Qingyan said the password had been changed, he was probably trying to trick him into coming over.
The room’s furnishings hadn’t changed, exactly the same as when Jiang Su moved out.
Having lived in this house for two years, Jiang Su was familiar with every corner.
He looked around upstairs and downstairs, “The house hasn’t been lived in for a while. Huo Qingyan shouldn’t have come back.”
Zhou Fu followed behind him, “Mr. Huo has been staying at the Qingyang Grand Hotel recently.”
Although Mr. Huo hadn’t said anything, he guessed that it was probably because Mr. Jiang had moved out, and Mr. Huo didn’t feel comfortable living alone in the villa.
“Let’s go check the Qingyang Grand Hotel.” Jiang Su didn’t have the time to think about why Huo Qingyan chose to stay in a hotel instead of his own home. He just wanted to find him and be done with it.
He was busy but couldn’t ignore it.
If something happened to Huo Qingyan, he would feel guilty.
…
At the Qingyang Grand Hotel, Huo Qingyan’s long-term presidential suite showed more signs of life.
Several car keys were on the console in the entrance hall. An open foreign language book was on the desk in the study, and the laptop was also open, not yet closed…
Everything indicated that Huo Qingyan hadn’t left for a specific place in a planned manner.
It was a sudden departure.
Jiang Su then remembered that he had forgotten to ask a very important question, “How many days has Huo Qingyan been missing?”
Zhou Fu remembered this most clearly, “Three days.”
Jiang Su had come to find Huo Qingyan with Shen Xiumo four days ago, at night.
Huo Qingyan disappeared a day later.
Therefore, Huo Qingyan definitely didn’t disappear suddenly because of what he said.
Something must have happened.
Jiang Su carefully examined the room again, and according to Huo Qingyan’s habits, he found all of Huo Qingyan’s identification documents in the drawer of the study.
This meant that Huo Qingyan hadn’t left the country and hadn’t even left the city.
In the entire city of Qingyang, the number of people who could make Huo Qingyan disappear without a trace could be counted on one hand.
Jiang Su’s expression became even more serious.
“Su Su.” Xu Mo suddenly walked over.
Xu Mo’s voice was low, and his expression was one of not wanting Zhou Fu to hear.
Seeing this, Jiang Su also lowered his voice, “What is it?”
Xu Mo: “I have a bold guess.” Jiang Su looked up, motioning for him to speak.
Xu Mo cautiously glanced at Zhou Fu again, his voice even lower, almost whispering to Jiang Su, “Could it be that your family finally took action against Huo Qingyan?”
Jiang Su: “??”
Xu Mo explained, “It’s just a guess…”
Jiang Su glared at him unhappily, “My family isn’t the mafia.”
Xu Mo softly retorted, “Wasn’t your ancestry…”
“That was during the Republic of China period.” Jiang Su said each word clearly, “This is a society ruled by law!”
Despite this, Xu Mo still felt his guess was correct, “Your family has disliked Huo Qingyan all along, and they have the ability to make him disappear…”
Jiang Su: …
To be honest, it sounded like it could be true.
But it was impossible.
Jiang Su placed Huo Qingyan’s identification documents on the table, and Zhou Fu stared at them, slightly lost in thought.
Jiang Su called out to him, “Mr. Zhou.”
Zhou Fu looked up, his expression complex, “Mr. Jiang, what are your instructions?”
Jiang Su said slowly, “Tomorrow, find a way to get Mr. Huo to the company.”
Zhou Fu’s expression changed several times before finally settling into calmness, “Understood.”
“Let’s go.” Jiang Su glanced at Xu Mo, whose face was full of astonishment.
They went out together, and after entering the elevator, Xu Mo asked Jiang Su, “No way, Huo Qingyan’s father…”
Jiang Su hummed, looked around, and found that the presidential suite’s dedicated elevator indeed had no surveillance cameras.
…
Early the next morning, Zhou Fu called Jiang Su, saying that Huo Zhenheng was already on his way to Huo Corporation.
The top-level assistant, who was sought after by the big shots, was indeed efficient.
Jiang Su didn’t ask how Zhou Fu did it. He took Xu Mo and a bodyguard from his older brother and went directly to the Huo family’s old house.
Jiang Su hadn’t been to the Huo family’s old house many times, but he knew that there was a side door for servants to enter and exit. Once, he mentioned this to his second sister, and she joked that the Huo family was feudal.
The overall style of the old house was Chinese, and the side door was a small wooden door. Although it was tightly closed, it was easily forced open by the bodyguard.
The house was very quiet, and the group walked in without encountering a single servant.
Upon reaching the main house, they saw the butler from afar.
Xu Mo couldn’t help but murmur, “Why is there only one servant?”
“It’s the butler.” Jiang Su recognized him.
Xu Mo touched his arm, “It feels eerie in this house. Where are we going now?”
“Mr. Huo’s study.” He had been to the old house several times, but he had never been to Huo Zhenheng’s study, which seemed to be off-limits to everyone.
“Locking him in the study?” Xu Mo felt Jiang Su’s idea was unreliable.
Jiang Su didn’t say much, gesturing for a bodyguard to deal with the butler, and took the others to Huo Zhenheng’s study.
The windows and doors of Huo Zhenheng’s study were tightly closed, and the heavy curtains blocked the light.
As soon as Jiang Su entered, he inexplicably felt a chill.
Xu Mo shivered, “Huo Qingyan’s father wouldn’t have some serious illness, would he? Look at this study, is this an earthly thing?”
The room was large and empty. When the lights were turned on, the entire room was clearly visible.
Several bodyguards searched, “Young Master, no one’s here.”
Jiang Su carefully looked around again, his gaze falling on a strangely shaped ornament next to the desk.
Jiang Su walked over and reached out to try to pick it up, but found he couldn’t move it.
Fixed?
Jiang Su tentatively pressed down.
The moment the ornament sank with Jiang Su’s force, a dull sound of something massive opening echoed.
