Chapter 65: Being Cuckolded Is Still Worse
Huo Qingyan looked at Shen XiuMo coldly: “Even if he’s not mine, he can’t be yours.”
Shen XiuMo quickly thought of a retort.
“I didn’t say he was mine. Jiang Su isn’t an object; he’s a person with his own thoughts; he belongs only to himself.”
Seeing Huo Qingyan’s slightly stunned expression, Shen XiuMo happily hummed a tune.
Thankfully, he often discussed scripts and lines with the company’s screenwriters; these life lessons came easily.
Huo Qingyan, who spoke less than ten sentences a day, was no match for him in a verbal sparring match.
He was just that good.
Huo Qingyan lowered his eyes, thinking for a while before slowly saying, “It’s best if you don’t have feelings for Jiang Su.”
Shen XiuMo’s expression paused, quickly returning to his usual flippant demeanor: “You’re divorced from Jiang Su; who he’s with is none of your business. Are you his father?”
Shen XiuMo said, “Jiang Su isn’t yours anymore,” essentially saying, “You’re divorced from Jiang Su.”
Huo Qingyan naturally didn’t like hearing these words.
But Shen XiuMo had already started, so he couldn’t stop him.
Huo Qingyan closed his eyes, suppressing his anger: “I really have nothing to do with Jiang Su now, but based on my understanding of the Jiang family, with your ever-changing bed partners, don’t even think about touching Jiang Su; you won’t even be able to get close to the Jiang family.”
Shen XiuMo’s expression darkened: “Damn it! You investigated me!”
Huo Qingyan smirked, a detached smile: “Jiang Su told me before the divorce.”
He clearly remembered Jiang Su’s shocked expression when he told him.
Jiang Su had exclaimed, “Shen XiuMo changes partners every day; how is that even possible?”
Huo Qingyan had been reading an urgent email when Jiang Su made the comment. He listened while multitasking.
After finishing the email, he closed his laptop and looked at Jiang Su with dark eyes.
Jiang Su probably thought he was angry and flatteringly said, “I don’t know about Shen XiuMo, but I know you’re amazing! You’re the best!”
Huo Qingyan had previously heard others say men were cute and found it incomprehensible.
But at that moment, he thought that men could indeed be described as cute.
Shen XiuMo was shocked: “I think you’re making things up!”
Huo Qingyan: “Jiang Su also said that scumbags like you won’t have a good ending.”
Shen XiuMo: “…”
Every ex he’d broken up with had said that.
He couldn’t think of a way to refute Huo Qingyan.
Huo Qingyan said thoughtfully: “People always have to pay for their actions.”
Having been rivals with Shen XiuMo for years, he could see Shen XiuMo had feelings for Jiang Su.
The Jiang family had a clean reputation, strictly disciplining their children.
They would never tolerate a scumbag like Shen XiuMo marrying into the family.
Shen XiuMo was hit in a sore spot and coldly cursed Huo Qingyan: “Psychopath!”
Shen XiuMo’s voice was loud, attracting the attention of those in the studio.
“Brother, why are you here?” Shen Man approached, seeing Huo Qingyan too: “Mr. Huo, you’re here too…”
She remembered her brother saying Huo Qingyan might have a serious illness and was dying.
But Huo Qingyan, apart from looking a little pale, seemed to be in good spirits. He didn’t look like someone who was about to die.
Huo Qingyan calmly explained, “I was passing by, and I came to check on the recording.”
Shen Man nodded, indicating she understood. “We just paused the recording; we’re about to restart.”
“I won’t disturb your work,” Huo Qingyan said, turning to leave.
In the studio, Cheng Xishi, seeing Huo Qingyan leave, turned to look at Jiang Su.
Jiang Su sat on the sofa with his head down, his expression unreadable.
“Jiang Su.”
Jiang Su looked up, realizing Shen Man was calling him and beckoning him over.
Jiang Su got up and went over.
Shen Man pointed to Shen Xiumo standing nearby. “My brother has something to tell you.”
Jiang Su walked up to Shen Xiumo. “What is it?”
“On the show, could you be a little… gentler?”
Shen Xiumo tried to express his thoughts as subtly as possible, after all, Jiang Su’s sharp remarks had almost shattered his composure.
The reason he rushed over was because he had seen Jiang Su’s performance on the live broadcast.
What Jiang Su had said was too much.
Who would dare to participate in Huang Sheng’s shows in the future?
Jiang Su quickly understood the subtext in Shen Xiumo’s words: “You want me to shut up?”
Shen Xiumo’s expression unconsciously showed a hint of appeasement. “Not really… it would be better if you could speak less.”
“Is Mr. Shen a sore loser?”
A low, deep male voice suddenly sounded.
Shen Xiumo turned to see Huo Qingyan, who had inexplicably returned, and said impatiently, “Didn’t you leave?”
Huo Qingyan smiled nonchalantly. “If I left, I wouldn’t be able to see Mr. Shen’s cowardly face.”
“Who the hell is cowardly?” In front of Huo Qingyan, Shen Xiumo refused to admit defeat.
Huo Qingyan’s expression returned to its usual seriousness. “Oh? Then who was it that just told the guest who dared to speak on the show to shut up?”
(“Shut up” is a popular online term.)
Hearing these words from Huo Qingyan was somewhat unexpected to Jiang Su.
After all, Huo Qingyan was always steady and composed, not someone who would use such language.
“Jiang Su, just speak boldly! Say whatever you want!”
Although Shen Xiumo’s words were directed at Jiang Su, his eyes glared fiercely at Huo Qingyan.
Jiang Su was silent for two seconds, then asked seriously, “Then can you talk about the time you were cheated on?”
Shen Xiumo looked back gloomily. “How did you know?”
Jiang Su: “Doesn’t everyone know?”
It’s common knowledge that there are no secrets in high society.
Even the smallest things become known overnight.
Especially Shen Xiumo being cheated on.
Jiang Su found out the next day.
Jiang Lichuan told him.
Huo Qingyan added at the right moment: “I know too.”
Shen Xiumo was devastated.
Thinking back to how he had mocked Huo Qingyan for being dumped by Jiang Su, he wanted to die.
Being cheated on versus being dumped.
Being cheated on is worse, right?
Seeing Shen Xiumo’s dejected look, Jiang Su comforted him: “Although everyone knows, but…”
His following words, “no one dares to say it to your face,” were interrupted by Shen Xiumo.
Shen Xiumo’s eyes widened. “Everyone knows???”
Before Jiang Su could figure out what to say, Huo Qingyan delivered a final blow to Shen Xiumo: “You can know that I was dumped, but everyone can’t know that you were cheated on?”
