After Giving Up, My Rich Ex-Husband Begged Me to Return Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Our Jiang Family Doesn’t Have Cowards Like You

Huo Qingyan didn’t immediately answer Jiang Su, instead lowering his eyes to look at him.

Jiang Su was looking down, fastening his cufflinks. From Huo Qingyan’s perspective, he could see Jiang Su’s crow-like eyelashes, long and thick.

He remembered the first time he saw Jiang Su, when Jiang Su was only fourteen years old.

A rebellious and arrogant young master, yet with a ridiculously beautiful face.

This made Huo Qingyan, who didn’t usually pay much attention to people’s appearances, remember Jiang Su at first glance.

Later, Jiang Su appeared around him from time to time.

The gentle and peaceful Jiang Su before him was hard to reconcile with the arrogant boy in his memory.

Huo Qingyan felt inexplicably irritated and his tone wasn’t good, “No need.”

By now, Jiang Su had fastened his cufflinks. Hearing this, he raised his eyes slightly, his tone subtly disappointed, “Okay.”

Huo Qingyan tidied his coat and left in a hurry.

His back looked as if he didn’t want to stay in the house for another second.

Huo Qingyan hadn’t been particularly enthusiastic in the past, but at least he hadn’t been so obviously impatient and annoyed like now.

Lin Siyue had returned, and Huo Qingyan’s patience had become even worse.

Jiang Su still prepared hangover soup for Huo Qingyan.

After putting the soup on the table, he went upstairs to the study.

After getting married, his social circle had shrunk; he had almost no social activities and often had nothing to do, so he only read to pass the time.

He had only read a few pages when he remembered Huo Qingyan’s reaction when he asked if he wanted to go to the party together.

Huo Qingyan had paused…

Such a small pause wouldn’t be significant for ordinary people, but it was different with Huo Qingyan.

Huo Qingyan was adept at hiding his emotions, and Jiang Su had spent a lot of effort trying to understand them.

He had a feeling that Huo Qingyan might be hiding something from him.

Putting the book aside, he found Huo Qingyan’s number in his phone.

After hesitating for two seconds, he opened WeChat and cautiously sent Huo Qingyan a message:

[When will the party end?]

As expected, the message was left unanswered.

But he felt uneasy if he didn’t do something.

Jiang Su was about to get up to get some water when his phone beeped, signaling a new message.

He hurriedly turned around and picked up his phone.

The person who sent the message wasn’t Huo Qingyan, but it was still surprising enough.

It was Jiang Licuan.

Jiang Licuan was also one of Jiang Su’s cousins, only ranked sixth because he was born one day earlier.

Because they were the same age, they had played together since childhood, but after he married Huo Qingyan, Jiang Licuan didn’t treat him very well.

It was rare for Jiang Licuan to take the initiative to message him.

Jiang Su sat back down and opened Jiang Licuan’s message.

Jiang Licuan sent a picture; it showed Huo Qingyan and Lin Siyue at the party, standing side-by-side, chatting and laughing with others.

Jiang Su suddenly understood why these two people, separated for five years, still left so many onlookers feeling unsatisfied, and why they could make the news upon returning.

Because they looked so good together, exceptionally eye-catching.

Jiang Licuan sent another message, “Look at this gay couple!”

Jiang Su stared intently at the picture.

After a long while, he replied to Jiang Licuan, “They’re just friends.”

Jiang Licuan sent a barrage of silly emojis: [Idiot incurable.jpg], [I’m going to commit suicide so you’ll have no father.jpg]…

After sending a bunch of emojis, Jiang Licuan, probably still unsatisfied, directly sent a voice message to scold him.

[Jiang Su, are you an idiot?! Our Jiang family doesn’t have cowards like you. When you die, don’t be buried in the Jiang family cemetery; I don’t want to be buried in the same cemetery as an idiot like you…]

Jiang Licuan had a bad temper but was actually very loyal.

Jiang Su wasn’t to be outdone, “You’re older, you’ll definitely die before me. When you die, I’ll go to your grave and open champagne and dance.”

Jiang Licuan: “You’d better be this tough in front of Huo Qingyan!” Jiang Su was speechless.

Jiang Su ended the call.

He leaned back and stared blankly at the ceiling for a while before suddenly getting up and striding out.

Qingyang Grand Hotel was a century-old Huo family property.

The hotel rooms and banquet halls were exorbitantly priced but were often booked years in advance.

The party that Huo Qingyan would attend would certainly be held at the Qingyang Grand Hotel.

Jiang Su got out of the car and walked straight inside.

But he was stopped by the doorman, “Sir, please show your membership card or invitation.”

Oh, he almost forgot that the hotel was members-only; ordinary people couldn’t enter.

Jiang Su found it somewhat funny. As Huo Qingyan’s partner, he couldn’t enter a Huo family hotel.

He actually laughed out loud.

Seeing this, the doorman worriedly asked, “Sir, what’s wrong with you?”

The young man before him was handsome, tall and elegant, with an air of wealth about him; he must be rich and powerful.

The doorman felt a little uneasy, worried that he might offend a big shot, and cautiously said, “Sir, shall I call the manager?”

The manager had met many people and might know this gentleman.

“No need,” Jiang Su stopped laughing and turned to call Jiang Licuan.

Jiang Licuan answered incredibly quickly, “Why are you calling Dad?”

Jiang Su, “Dad’s waiting for you at the hotel entrance.”

“Damn!” Jiang Licuan muttered a low curse and hung up.

Within a few minutes, Jiang Licuan appeared at the hotel entrance.

Unlike Jiang Su, Jiang Licuan had opened a club after graduating and had a wide social circle; people knew him wherever he went.

When the doorman saw Jiang Licuan, he nodded slightly and said, “Mr. Jiang.”

Jiang Licuan, as usual, had three buttons undone on his shirt, looking carefree and rather unrestrained.

He glanced at Jiang Su before lazily saying to the doorman, “This is our Jiang family’s most useless seventh son. Remember that?”

Jiang Su didn’t go straight in, knowing he’d been stopped by the doorman.

The doorman, hearing that he was the young master of the Jiang family, was scared into a cold sweat, “Remembered.”

The Jiang family was also a large family. Their financial resources might be slightly inferior to the Huo family, but several generations of the Jiang family were involved in the underworld, inheriting a tradition of loyalty and protectiveness.

On his first day at the hotel, the manager had said to avoid anyone surnamed Jiang.

“Let’s go,” Jiang Su was afraid that Jiang Licuan would continue to intimidate the doorman.

As they entered the elevator, Jiang Su saw Jiang Licuan smiling slyly as he took out his phone to make a call, so he asked, “What are you doing?”

“Calling reporters, of course?” Jiang Licuan looked puzzled, “Aren’t you here to catch them in the act? I’ll call the reporters to expose this gay couple.”

Jiang Su: “…”

Jiang Licuan patted his shoulder, “Don’t worry, I recently invested in several entertainment companies; this will be handled smoothly.”
