【23】 My Blue Is Only For My Mid Laner
Wen Ran rubbed his eyes.
He pulled up the video he had just watched again, re-aligning it letter by letter against the screen.
Holy sht.*
It really is Wind!
Wind actively added him as a friend?
Wen Ran hadn’t dared to dream of such a thing. He bit the tip of his tongue. It hurt!
Not a dream!
Wen Ran carefully clicked accept, and Wind’s message came through immediately:
[Duo queue?]
Wen Ran obediently replied with an “Mn,” and the room invitation followed.
His heart was thumping wildly.
wrsxhd: [Nice ID.]
My Mechanics Are Better Than Yours: […]
Wen Ran’s face turned red instantly. He had never felt his ID was inappropriate before, but facing Wind, the ID looked mocking no matter how he looked at it.
My Mechanics Are Better Than Yours: [I have other accounts, should I switch?]
wrsxhd: [It’s fine. Started.]
My Mechanics Are Better Than Yours: [Mn.]
After both sides banned heroes, the first pick instantly locked in ‘Bell’ (Lingdang).
The teammate in the second slot immediately complained: [Why did you insta-lock this without looking at the lineup?]
[It’s easy to get countered.]
The hero ‘Bell’ belonged to the soft support category. Generally, she acted as an accessory attached to a teammate. Because her mechanics were simple, she was easy to pick up, but her skill ceiling was very low. She relied too heavily on teammates; once the team was at a disadvantage, there was rarely a chance to turn the tables. Therefore, in this rank bracket, few people would pick her first. They usually waited for teammates to pick compatible heroes before selecting her for synergy.
But the first pick turned a blind eye to the second pick’s complaint and sent a message:
[Big brothers, carry me please~]
2nd Pick: “…”
Wen Ran was in the third slot. The enemy Mid Laner had already been revealed: Ice Rabbit, a stationary heavy mage.
He thought for a moment and chose ‘Ah Ji’.
Wen Ran rarely played Ah Ji because compared to Ice Rabbit, Ah Ji leaned more towards being a tool-user. She had hard crowd control and could build semi-tank to focus on control.
And…
If Wind played Ruiying, Ah Ji had high compatibility with him. Ruiying was a hero that needed economy to scale; once his economy was high, his burst damage was no less than an ADC’s.
However, Wind completely exceeded his expectations. The pre-selection switched from Ruiying to Wujian, and finally, he locked in ‘Ling’.
Wen Ran almost fell off his chair.
Ling’s compatibility with this lineup was okay. Although the damage wasn’t as high as Ruiying’s, the playability was decent.
But none of that mattered. Ling and Ah Ji were the officially certified couple heroes!
Wen Ran scrambled to grab the cup on the table and took a sip of water.
Wind must have wanted to play a different hero. And while Ruiying had high damage, Ling wasn’t bad either. Their support wasn’t as tanky as the enemy’s, so that must be why he chose this. This must be Wind’s tactic!
Wen Ran told himself this, but when he saw the two hero posters in the loading screen, he couldn’t resist taking a screenshot.
He stared at Wind’s ID, analyzing it back and forth. wrsxhd, what on earth does this mean?
W… Wen Rou Shi Xiao Hu Die (Gentle is Little Butterfly)? Wo Ren Shi Xiao Hu Dui (I know the Little Tigers Team)? Wen Rou Shi Xi Huan De (Gentle is Liked)?
The more he thought, the more absurd it got.
Wen Ran couldn’t guess it at all. He knew nothing about Wind’s private life. Perhaps this string of letters had no special meaning and was just typed randomly by Wind.
After entering the game, Wen Ran farmed and ganked by the book.
Playing with his idol for the first time, Wen Ran wanted to leave a good impression. So, even though the support in this game was behaving terribly, he suppressed his anger and refrained from pinging the bare “Grand Support Item” in her inventory.
He typed: [Bell, you can buy a small component first. That way you won’t share economy. Once everyone has farmed up, upgrade to the Grand Support Item.]
Embraced By Brother: [But I don’t want to.]
Embraced By Brother: [Doesn’t Support need to farm too?]
After Wen Ran rotated to support the ADC and secured a double kill, his state was still decent. But as soon as he returned to mid lane, he found Bell using her second skill to steal the last hit on his minion.
Wen Ran clenched his fist, gritting his teeth as he typed:
[Bell, could you wait for me to come back before clearing the wave together?]
He was already giving a lot of face. Usually, he would have already greeted her with a “Are you even worthy of last-hitting?”
This support almost never participated in team fights, yet her economy was now a few hundred gold higher than his own.
The Top Laner and ADC had long since had enough of her.
Top: [Bell, do you even know how to play? Can’t you even do something as simple as attaching to a teammate?]
ADC: [How many team fights have we had? How many shields have I gotten from you? You never check vision, and you even ate my health pack. Can you just go AFK?]
ADC: [How did you even reach this rank?]
Embraced By Brother: [Why are you vegetable dogs (noobs) barking? You don’t even know how to protect Little Bell. Naturally, I have a more amazing brother to carry me. If it weren’t for Brother being busy these past two days, would you guys even be worthy of playing with me?]
Embraced By Brother: [And that Ah Ji, with a 2-4 score, still teaching me how to build? Do I not know?]
Embraced By Brother: [No wonder there’s no brother to carry you.]
Wen Ran, who had swallowed his anger for most of the game only to get shot while lying down: ???
With my skills, I need a brother to carry me? Do you think just because I gave you face, every dog thinks they’re a lion!
But with Wind present, Wen Ran didn’t dare send these words out. He could only curse a few times in his heart to vent.
Then he saw Bell run to Wind, who had the best score, and attach herself to him.
Embraced By Brother: [Look at Brother Ling, carrying silently. A true boss would never blame a weak little support.]
Then Bell turned on her mic. Her voice was sugary sweet, sounding very much like she was deliberately pinching her throat (faking a cute voice), and said to Wind: “Brother, can you give Little Bell the Blue Buff?”
Wen Ran couldn’t bear it anymore. Smack! He slammed the keyboard. “I’m f*cking done!”
“No.”
A very gentle voice suddenly came through the headset.
Carrying a hint of static, Wind turned on his mic and said, “My Blue is only for my Mid Laner.”
Wen Ran froze. Even Bell, who was attached to Ling, was stunned.
Wind called him softly: “Ah Ji, come here and take the Blue.”
