【5】Soft? Sweet? Did You Have a Heartbeat?
He had never seen such a shameless person!
But since the other party asked, Wen Ran actually started to think about the feeling at that time. Jiang Yan’s lips were soft and springy, and his body carried a faint scent. If he had to find a word to describe it, it was comfortable.
At the very least, Wen Ran didn’t resist him.
Stop, stop, stop, what the hell am I thinking about!
It was just a chance meeting; it wasn’t certain if they’d ever meet again. Wen Ran didn’t reply. Just then, a batch of goods arrived at the warehouse, so he could only go get busy with work.
When he finally settled everything and lay down to rest, he picked up his phone and saw the messages the other party had sent later—
Jiang Yan: [You little friend, weren’t you quite bold when you forced a kiss on me?]
Jiang Yan: [Why are you playing the ostrich now? Hmm? Little coward?]
Wen Ran: “…”
Wen Ran: [You’re the coward. How am I supposed to answer such a stupid question?]
The chat box showed the other party was typing—
Jiang Yan: [Just the simplest description. Soft? Sweet? And—]
[Did your heart skip a beat?]
Wen Ran felt like his eyes were truly opened today. Why could Jiang Yan ask such questions without changing his expression, despite it being his first kiss, acting like a battle-hardened old rogue? Meanwhile, he, who had actually dated, was being asked until he blushed and his heart raced.
Even the tips of his ears were burning hot. He typed fiercely: [I’d have a heartbeat for a taro before I’d have one for you. Are you sick?]
Jiang Yan looked at the expected answer and hooked his lips slightly.
He didn’t know why, but even though he wasn’t familiar with the other party, he could imagine his bristling appearance right now. Truly cute.
Wen Ran worked there for ten days. The foreman didn’t withhold a cent of his wages. However, he hadn’t planned on doing this long-term anyway; his body couldn’t take it.
Wen Ran opened a mobile app to browse shared rental ads.
He didn’t have high requirements for quality of life; as long as there was a bed to sleep in and a place to shower, it was fine.
Most of the shared rental ads were posted by girls. Although Wen Ran had no interest in girls, since he was a guy, living together would be somewhat inconvenient.
With great difficulty, he finally scrolled to a shared rental ad posted by a guy.
The only requirement:
Able to clean the room and cook. Rent can be reduced by half.
The comments below were invariably cursing him, saying he just wanted to find a nanny for that little money.
Wen Ran only had so much money in hand, and looking further down, this was the only guy renting. He thought that if the guy was too hard to serve, he could just leave later.
Wen Ran contacted him. The two confirmed the location over the phone. The apartment was in a fairly prosperous area, not too far from the university town. Following the instructions, Wen Ran walked to Unit 3 and rang the doorbell.
The elevator reached the 23rd floor. A boy slightly taller than him greeted him. “You’re the one here for the shared rental, right?”
“Come in.”
The other party looked young, likely just woken up, with messy hair.
Wen Ran had seen the photos the guy took; the room looked messy and terrible. But upon arriving at the actual location, he realized this guy’s photography skills were truly trash.
From size to decoration, this apartment was practically high-end. Though not magnificent, it was simple and grand, just cluttered with some trash and carelessly thrown clothes.
“You’ll stay in the inner room, is that okay?” The boy pointed to a room casually. “I live next door to you.”
“I don’t do housework. You just keep the house tidy. As for food, I usually order takeout for lunch and dinner, you just need to make breakfast.” The boy thought for a moment. “Oh right, and laundry.”
“I haven’t figured out that washing machine, so I’m handing that over to you too.”
Wen Ran thought, He really is looking for a nanny.
But quarter-price rent was too tempting, so Wen Ran had to endure it for now. “How is the rent calculated? I remember you said it gets reduced by half in the post.”
“I just filled that in randomly,” the boy waved his hand. “This is my brother’s apartment. Just make a gesture, give me five hundred a month and we’ll call it even.”
His brother loved cleanliness so much. If he found out he had turned the apartment into this state, he would definitely kill him! Finding a roommate to share, not letting the empty room go to waste, and having someone help with the labor—it was simply killing multiple birds with one stone!
Wen Ran couldn’t believe his ears. Five hundred a month to live in this kind of room? It was simply a pie falling from the sky.
“Is that not allowed?”
“Allowed, allowed.” Wen Ran nodded repeatedly. The boy was refreshing; he gave him a key right on the spot. “Alright then, just come over whenever it’s convenient for you.”
“I’m Song Zixuan. And you?”
“Wen Ran.”
Wen Ran cleaned up the things in the living room first. He had done all sorts of dirty and tiring work; this bit of effort was nothing.
Song Zixuan, a pampered young master, was astonished.
He took a photo of the tidy room and sent it to his brother.
[Bro, I found a roommate.]
[This is what he cleaned. I think it’s pretty good!]
The reply came quickly: [Fine. As long as his personality is good and you can get along. I’ll come back to see you after I finish work this week.]
Jiang Yan rubbed his brow after replying.
This younger brother had liked clinging to him since childhood, treating him closer than his own biological brother. Recently, because he wanted to play games and become a streamer, he had a conflict with his family and ran away from home.
Everyone else advised him to be obedient and go home to study; only Jiang Yan was willing to take care of him. Watching this brother run towards him carrying a big backpack, he had slapped him on the head. “Of all people to learn from, you learn from your brother?”
Then he patted his hair. “However, passion is the most amazing thing.”
Jiang Yan came back to his senses. Not knowing why, he scrolled down the page and instantly saw the contact at the very bottom. They hadn’t spoken for a long time. He wondered how that little friend was doing.
