Chapter 101: Teasing â A leopard never changes its spots when teasing his wife
In the quiet lecture hall, Jiang Yunian was bowing his head, seriously reviewing the key points the professor had just discussed. The tip of his pen made a rustling sound against his notebook.
The phone in his desk drawer vibrated. He took it out to see a WeChat message from Jiang Yan.
It was more substanceless fluff.
[A-Yan: Haven’t seen Ge for a whole night. Itâs so hard to bear.]
[A-Yan: Am I sick? Otherwise, why is my head full of nothing but Ge?]
Does the company have no work to do? According to Hao Meng, if he had a couple more 8 AM classes, he wouldn’t have time to think so much. Jiang Yunian casually typed a few words: [Donât overthink things.]
The person on the other side was relentless, saying he was being too perfunctory. You donât cherish me now that weâre married. Itâs only been a few days. You were clearly holding me and calling me “Husband” yesterday, but youâve turned into a different person in the blink of an eye. He was acting as if Yunian were a heartless, ungrateful scumbag who changed faces right after the wedding.
Seeing the word “Husband,” Jiang Yunianâs earlobes burned for some reason. The scene of being forced to say it in the self-study room yesterday was still vivid in his mind. Having been a straight man for twenty years, tradition was etched into his bones. He had only been gay for a short year; he still felt immense shame using such titles between two men. After returning, he had secretly processed it for a long time before barely managing to accept it.
Just as he was preparing to type a rebuttal, a pile of eye-searing fantasies popped up from the other side.
[A-Yan: The way Ge looks without clothes is truly enchanting.]
[A-Yan: You were tempting me the whole time last night.]
[A-Yan: Itâs so painful. I took care of it myself twice while looking at Ge, but it wasnât enough.]
[A-Yan: Last night, I even dreamed of Ge twisting… I want to die on top of Ge.]
The words that followed became increasingly explicit. Jiang Yunian felt his heart rate skyrocket and his blood surge. He wished he could reach through the screen and cover the mouth of that foul-mouthed fellow. A leopard cannot change its spotsâthat phrase was made for Jiang Yan. He always loved to use these dirty words to tease him, finding joy in seeing his face turn red and helpless.
He was simply wicked to the core.
Furthermore, they clearly didn’t stay together last night, so how could he have “tempted” him? Could even this be blamed on him?
He gritted his teeth and replied: [Enough. You are not allowed to talk nonsense.]
[A-Yan: Itâs not nonsense. Itâs true. Iâm starting to have hallucinations from missing Ge.]
Jiang Yunian decided to ignore him, setting his phone to silent and stuffing it back into the drawer. But less than two minutes later, he couldn’t resist taking it out to check. Perhaps afraid of truly upsetting his Ge, Jiang Yanâs message this time was quite serious.
[A-Yan: I still have a few photos from Iceland that I haven’t sent to Ge. Do you want to see?]
Hmm? Jiang Yunian was confused. Hadn’t the photographer already sent over all the raw files at once?
[A-Yan: There are a few more. They weren’t taken by the photographer.]
Not taken by the photographer? Then… Could there be photos I don’t know about? A bad premonition gradually rose in his heart.
Just as this thought flashed by, messages popped up continuously, and several high-definition images loaded…
Jiang Yunian only took one look before he felt as if heâd been struck by lightning. He slammed his phone face-down on the desk with a sharp clack, drawing the gazes of several nearby students.
Qian Cheng, sitting next to him, was also startled. Thinking the professor had suddenly called a name, he hurriedly switched out of his game interface and looked around. Everything was calm. He turned his head and saw Jiang Yunian with a panicked expression, death-gripping his phone. Upon closer inspection, his face was quite red.
âHoly crap, what are you doing? Stealthily watching R-rated adult films in class? Your face is so red.â
It wasn’t an adult film, but it was certainly “R-rated”… Jiang Yunian wept silently in his heart.
He had only caught a glimpse of those photos and was nearly drowned by shame. On his pale, creamy skin, there were lingering, ambiguous marks. Some of the shots were taken from tricky angles without him even knowing. The person in the photos had eyes filled with spring and a seductive postureâit almost didn’t look like himself.
He lowered his head guiltily, his heart still thumping. Once the surrounding gazes dispersed, he stealthily picked up his phone again. With trembling fingertips, he began a hysterical accusation against Jiang Yan, demanding firmly and strongly that he delete those private photos immediately. By the end, he even resorted to threats: If you don’t delete them, I won’t let you touch me.
He had truly made some progress.
But Jiang Yan wasn’t someone who grew up being scared; threats didn’t work on him, and no one could remain “hard” in front of him. His reply was crisp and decisive, with no room for negotiation.
[A-Yan: No.]
He said: Since Ge refuses to move back in with me, I have to keep something to sustain my life.
Twisted logic! Itâs all twisted logic!
Jiang Yunian simply regretted everything. How did he end up in the hands of such a man who was full of “yellow scrap” and completely unreasonable! And yet, he could do absolutely nothing about him.
Since the hard way didn’t work, he had to try the soft way. He softened his tone, pleading piteously for him to delete them, saying it was too dangerous to keep such thingsâwhat if someone else accidentally saw them?
[A-Yan: Don’t worry. They are stored together with my companyâs core secrets; itâs very safe. If Ge is worried, you can delete them from your WeChat history.]
Jiang Yunian: â…â
He was completely out of options. He was so angry he didn’t want to reply to any more messages.
Jiang Yan had teased him enough. If he teased any more, the threat might actually come true. By then, even he would have to bow his head.
[A-Yan: Alright, are you hungry? Husband will pick you up for dinner.]
[NianNianYouYu: No! (Angry emoji)]
[A-Yan: T^T]
In reality, he truly didn’t have time tonight. He had promised to treat his roommates to dinner yesterday, under the pretense of comforting those “single dogs.” When Jiang Yan heard his report, his brow furrowed slightly. Since it was a treat for “escaping singlehood,” why wasn’t he allowed to go?
Jiang Yunian and He Qing hadn’t thought about this before; they just viewed it as a small internal dorm gathering. Now that Jiang Yan mentioned it, it seemed to make sense. But it felt like once you were in a relationship or married, you had to bring your partner in front of friends for certification.
It seemed… that was indeed the case.
He told his roommates that Jiang Yan and Zhou Shu also wanted to join. The others expressed that there was no problem; Qian Cheng was even a bit excited. After all, having the future helmsmen of Qi Sheng and Zhou Hang treat them to a meal together provided quite a massive amount of “face.”
Ever since he learned about the relationship between Jiang Yunian and Jiang Yan, Qian Cheng’s attitude had done a 180-degree turn. He no longer dared to casually order Jiang Yunian around like before. Especially in front of Jiang Yan, he acted extremely protective of this “younger-brother-in-law.” Those who didn’t know better would think he was Jiang Yunianâs cousin.
As for Jiang Yan, who usually looked down on everyone else, he was unusually pleasant toward Qian Cheng. With a single glance, Qian Chengâs internship spot at Qitian Technology for next year was essentially secured. Once this was settled, he found Jiang Yunian even more pleasing to the eyeâhe was simply his lucky star.
The atmosphere at the dinner table gradually became lively. As they chatted, the topic veered toward the main purpose of the gathering. Even the usually reserved Xu Zhiyuan couldn’t help but sigh, noting that the one who settled down the fastest in the dorm was the one who seemed the most unlikely. Looking at himself, he hadn’t even touched the shadow of a girlfriend yet. What was he to do?
âYou haven’t even figured out your books yet; why worry about that?â Qian Cheng mocked him.
Xu Zhiyuan scratched his head. âIsn’t it… just quite hard to find someone?â
He Qing, who had been silent the whole time, paused his chopsticks slightly upon hearing this, losing his appetite. He put down his chopsticks and said softly, âIâm full. Iâm going to the restroom,â before getting up to leave the table.
âYouâve only had a few bites and youâre full?â Zhou Shu, who was focused on peeling shrimp for He Qing, found the person gone halfway through the task. He immediately wiped his hands clean and followed him out.
After searching for a while, he finally found him at the end of the hallway. He Qing was standing by the window with his back turned, staring blankly at the night scene outside. Zhou Shu walked over and used a bit of force to turn him by the shoulder, only to unexpectedly find that the corners of his eyes were a bit damp and red, as if he had just cried.
Zhou Shuâs heart tightened, and he instantly panicked. His voice softened by several degrees: âEverything is fine, why are you crying?â
âIâm not crying…â He Qing sniffled, feeling a bit embarrassed. He turned his head away to avoid Zhou Shu’s gaze and stubbornly said, âThe wind blew sand into my eyes.â
How could Zhou Shu not know that he was the most duplicitous person? He guessed it was because seeing the couple inside who had just registered their marriage made He Qing feel aggrieved. Thinking this way, his own heart didn’t feel good either; he felt he had wronged him.
He pulled the person into a full embrace, holding him tightly. His chin rubbed against the top of He Qing’s head as he coaxed softly, âDon’t overthink. Trust your husband. Before long, Iâll definitely bring you back to the Zhou family with great fanfare.â
â…â
âReally. You don’t believe your husband’s words? Have you forgotten how much my mom likes you? She already recognized you as her godson long ago. How could she not welcome you?â
Leaning in his arms, listening to his clumsy yet sincere comfort, He Qing actually understood better than anyone. In the past, if it hadn’t been for the complex interests within the Zhou family, Zhou Shuâs father likely would never have easily accepted his son being with a man.
But now…
Zhou Shu didn’t care about any of that. There was nothing he wanted that he couldn’t get. âWhen my dad has his birthday celebration this year, Iâll take you back. If you want, we can even register our marriage first. Itâs all up to you.â
He Qing shook his head, his voice muffled against his chest: âLetâs not anger your father at a time like this.â
If he caused discord between Zhou Shu and his father, he wouldn’t feel at ease even after entering the Zhou family. Furthermore, he had no plans to secretly commit his life to someone before graduation.
Zhou Shu hooked his finger against He Qing’s reddened nose and followed his lead: âFine, then weâll wait until graduation. Weâll marry as soon as we graduate. Anyway, don’t even think about running away in this lifetime.â
âAlright, alright, no more crying.â Zhou Shu wiped away the tear stains at the corners of his eyes and lowered his head to kiss his eyelids. âIf you keep crying, your husband’s heart will break into pieces.â
âI said Iâm not crying.â He Qing retorted softly. He hadn’t actually shed many tears, but being told this made him feel a bit embarrassed.
Looking at his reddened eyes and his attempt to stay calm, Zhou Shuâs heart melted. He pulled him a bit tighter. âGoing to my place tonight?â
He Qingâs body stiffened slightly. He didn’t answer immediately.
Zhou Shu gave a low laugh, looking a bit roguish: âIf you don’t speak, Iâll take that as a yes.â
He Qing lay against the crook of his shoulder. After a moment of hesitation, he said, âThen you aren’t allowed to force me to do that kind of thing again…â
âWhat kind of thing?â Zhou Shu asked knowingly, his tone ambiguous. âBe clearer, Baby, otherwise your husband won’t understand.â
This guy is only thinking about teasing me!
A flash of annoyance passed over He Qingâs face. He balled his hand into a fist and punched Zhou Shuâs rock-hard abs. In Zhou Shuâs eyes, this bit of strength was no different from acting spoiled.
âI can’t even treasure you enough; how could I bear to waste you?â Zhou Shu felt extremely protective of him at this moment and followed his every whim. âTonight, everything will be up to Wifey. Wifey is the boss, okay?â
He Qing gave a soft “Mm” in his arms, and his tense body slowly relaxed. Outside the window, neon lights flickered, reflecting the two embracing figures, separating them from the noise inside the private booth, leaving a moment of tranquility.
Translatorâs Note: “Yellow scrap” (éťč˛ĺť˘ć – huĂĄngsè fèiliĂ o) is a slang term for “perverted/dirty thoughts.” Poor Yunian is dealing with a husband who stores “spicy” photos in the same folder as corporate secrets! Also, the term “Escaping Singlehood” (čŤĺŽ) is a huge deal in Chinese college culture. I hope you guys are enjoying the sweet moments between our side couple, He Qing and Zhou Shu, as well!
