After the Honest Man Picked Up a Dark, Obsessive Psycho chapter 3.1

Chapter 3: Spending Money on Men’s Underwear — “My Ge Just Likes Them Big” part 1

When Jiang Yunian finished tidying up and came out, the bowls and chopsticks on the table had already been cleared away.

In the kitchen, Jiang Yan was methodically wiping the water droplets from the back of his hand. Jiang Yunian glanced at a freshly washed bowl and noticed a speck of grease that hadn’t been wiped clean. His hand hadn’t fully healed yet, so it was inevitable that he would miss something while working. Jiang Yunian didn’t say anything; he silently took the dishcloth and washed it again.

Jiang Yan stood quietly to the side, tracing the man’s earnest brow, delicate nose, and the slightly protruding bead of his lip. Further down was that fair, clean neck—so slender and fine that it could be snapped with just one hand.

His Ge was truly beautiful. Deliberately exposing the whitest part of his neck to him—how was this any different from a little kitten showing its soft belly?

His Adam’s apple bobbed involuntarily. As if possessed, Jiang Yan reached out, his fingertips moving slowly up along the spine to touch that patch of exposed skin.

Soft. So smooth.

A tingling itch spread from the back of his neck, like a caterpillar crawling across it. Jiang Yunian turned his head uncomfortably, bumping into a pair of lowered eyes.

“What’s wrong?”

Jiang Yan looked at him steadily, then withdrew his hand without a trace of awkwardness. His gaze fell to the floor, his voice a bit muffled. “I just wanted to help Ge.”

Jiang Yunian explained, “Your hand isn’t fully recovered. I don’t blame you.”

They say it takes a hundred days for bones to heal; not much time had passed yet.

“Ge is so good.” Jiang Yan took the opportunity to lean in closer, resting his chin on Jiang Yunian’s shoulder, his breath brushing against the side of his neck. “When my hand is better, I’ll cook for Ge every day.”

“Okay, then I won’t be polite about it.”

The evening wind carried the cool chill of late summer as it wove through the streets and alleys.

Walking along the uneven stone path, Jiang Yunian thought about how autumn was approaching. He needed to get Jiang Yan some thick autumn clothes.

The shops on the old street near their complex closed early, but he heard from Auntie Wang at the tailor shop next door that the mall near No. 3 Middle School was having a sale with big discounts.

He had already picked out two sweatshirts for Jiang Yan at the market downstairs, which were quite affordable. Thinking about it, he realized a jacket was still needed, so he walked into a store advertising “As Low as 61% Off.”

“How about this one?”

Jiang Yunian held up a pale yellow cotton jacket, measuring it against Jiang Yan’s chest. Jiang Yan was tall with fair skin and a frame even more superior than the models on the posters at the entrance; naturally, he looked good in everything.

Jiang Yan lacked interest. This kind of cheap fabric… even the security guards at his home wouldn’t wear it.

“This is a best-seller in our store~” The salesgirl was very enthusiastic. “After the discount, it’s only 199. It’s the last one left~”

Jiang Yunian had wanted him to try it on, but hearing that it was still “199” even after the discount, he silently retracted his hand. The salesgirl wasn’t about to let a sales opportunity slip by; she shoved the jacket into Jiang Yan’s arms and urged him to try it on quickly.

Jiang Yan raised his eyes indifferently, frowned, and stepped back, refusing to take it.

“This…”

The salesgirl’s smile froze, and she turned to look at the person next to him.

“Uh, he’s a bit shy with strangers.” Jiang Yunian pulled Jiang Yan’s hand, drawing him back. “This one is a bit thin. Do you have anything more affordable?”

“Oh, oh, yes, we do.”

Guessing they were local college students without much money, the salesgirl led them to the cheapest section. She dug out a relatively less worn-looking black casual set from a pile of slightly dated clothes. “How about this set?”

Jiang Yunian felt it; the thickness was sufficient, and the quality was better than expected. He asked Jiang Yan what he thought. Jiang Yan glanced at the obvious crease marks on it—who knew how many years this out-of-season item had been piled up there.

Jiang Yunian saw the corner of his mouth tighten. “You don’t like it?”

Meeting Jiang Yunian’s expectant gaze, Jiang Yan didn’t speak. He walked straight into the fitting room.

A few minutes later, Jiang Yan walked out from behind the curtain, dressed all in black.

As if custom-made for him, the black outfit wrapped around his slender figure. The shoulder line was smooth, the waist sharp, and the pant legs stopped exactly at his ankles—not an inch more, not an inch less.

Everyone’s eyes lit up. The salesgirl gave a thumbs-up, exclaiming that he was a walking clothes rack!

Jiang Yunian hadn’t expected it to fit so well either and blurted out, “Ah Yan, you’re so handsome…”

Jiang Yan faced the mirror, methodically pulling the zipper all the way to the top, covering his chin.

“Only handsome now?”

Jiang Yunian shook his head honestly. “You look good in everything.”

Jiang Yan curled his lips almost imperceptibly. Wearing cheap, out-of-season clothes… didn’t seem so bad.

Just as the salesgirl said, Jiang Yan was simply a perfect clothes rack. He managed to make the dead stock from the corner look fashionable. Jiang Yunian walked around him, looking front and back, touching the fabric. The more he looked, the more satisfied he was, and he decided to take it right then and there.

The salesgirl beamed. “Alright, the whole set is 299 in total.”

Jiang Yunian thought he heard wrong. “Isn’t it 61% off?”

The salesgirl maintained her professional fake smile. “It’s a whole set. This is already the cheapest price point.”

Jiang Yunian had never spent money in a mall before and didn’t know the prices here. The two sweatshirts he wore, bought for 99 yuan, were still sturdy after three years—cheap and practical. He hadn’t expected that even after a 60% discount, it would still be this expensive here.

“Can it be any cheaper?” he heard himself ask, his fingers twisting the fabric on Jiang Yan’s sleeve.

“Sorry, this is a chain store. We don’t haggle.”

It was rare to find something that fit so well, but the price far exceeded his expectations. Jiang Yunian was torn.

Shopping without money. The salesgirl straightened her back, her smile fading. “Do you still want it?”

A trace of impatience flashed through Jiang Yan’s eyes. It was the first time someone dared to give him attitude over out-of-season clothes. He suppressed it and said to Jiang Yunian, “Ge, I’ll just wear the old ones.”

The more “sensible” he acted, the more Jiang Yunian felt he was mistreating him. He had been hesitant, but now, no matter how much it hurt his wallet, he gritted his teeth. “Wrap it up.”

Jiang Yan: “…”

Jiang Yunian stopped him from going to change back, telling him to just keep wearing it; it wasn’t too late to change when they got home. So Jiang Yan stood there wearing the outfit, like a living billboard, drawing sideways glances from passersby.

Watching Jiang Yan walk beside him wearing the clothes he bought, a small sense of pride welled up in Jiang Yunian’s heart.

He finally understood why those middle-aged wealthy businessmen loved to keep young, pretty girls, sparing no expense just to win a beauty’s smile. Although Jiang Yan wasn’t a girl, he was better looking than a celebrity. Not only was he good-looking, but he was also sensible. This money was spent so worth it.

Jiang Yunian’s thoughts were very simple: since he picked up Jiang Yan, he had to be responsible for him. Not only the clothes on his back, but even the food he ate and the things he used were all provided by Jiang Yunian, penny by penny. Jiang Yan belonged to him, completely and wholly.

He even thought about raising him to be healthy and chubby in the future, so that Jiang Yan would remember how good he was to him and wouldn’t bear to leave.

It was a good thing Jiang Yan couldn’t read minds. Otherwise, knowing Jiang Yunian thought of him as so “cheap,” he probably would have frowned again.

Before paying, Jiang Yunian suddenly remembered something and asked the salesgirl if they sold underwear.

The salesgirl said yes and led them to the underwear section.

“What size do you wear?” Jiang Yunian asked, pulling the reluctant Jiang Yan along.

Jiang Yan said, “The biggest one.”

Jiang Yunian looked at him, wanting to say something but stopping. He lowered his voice. “Stop joking, I won’t laugh at you.”

Jiang Yan raised an eyebrow, feeling offended.
