Chapter 87: Yearning, Luring the Prey into His Territory
Manager Fang stepped aside to lead the way, and Jiang Yunian and Qian Cheng followed closely, stepping into the lobby.
The lobby was extremely spacious, its design style low-key yet luxurious, filled with a futuristic technological vibe and gaming elements. Gorgeous game promotional videos flowed across giant electronic screens, and reliefs of classic game characters were embedded in the walls. Cool game merchandise and figurines were placed on display stands, perfectly blending in with the overall environment without seeming abrupt at all.
Qian Cheng’s eyes sparkled as he looked around, clicking his tongue in wonder, itching to reach out and touch things.
They hadn’t taken many steps when a young man wearing thin-rimmed glasses quickly approached. He first gave a respectful nod to Jiang Yan, then leaned in close and whispered a few words into his ear.
Jiang Yan’s expression remained unchanged after listening. He told them he had some matters to handle and asked Manager Fang to show them around.
Qian Cheng immediately expressed his understanding, waving his hand: “Cousin, you go ahead and get busy, don’t worry about us, business is more important.”
Jiang Yan gave a slight nod. His gaze paused for a moment on the head-lowered Jiang Yunian, but he didn’t say anything more. He turned and walked toward the exclusive presidential elevator that had long gone unused. The elevator doors slid open silently and closed just as quietly, isolating him from the noisy lobby.
Manager Fang continued to dutifully lead them on the tour, briefly introducing the company’s main operational departments, as well as the important achievements and awards they had secured in the esports domain domestically and abroad in recent years. The various certification documents and patent certificates hanging on the walls silently narrated the company’s formidable strength and broad future prospects.
Given the dozens of floors making up Qi Tian Building, riding the elevator inevitably caused some ear popping. After touring for a short while, Manager Fang thoughtfully suggested going to the VIP reception room to take a short rest.
The reception room was spacious and comfortable. Soon, service staff brought in tea and pastries. The pastries had unique shapes, alluring colors, and a sweet fragrance; one look and it was clear they were meticulously handcrafted.
Qian Cheng leaned in for a closer look and couldn’t help but be surprised: “This… isn’t this Master Mi Mei’s latest release?”
Mi Mei was a renowned domestic dessert master with a reputation at home and abroad. His mother loved the pastries he made, and even asking people to queue up wouldn’t guarantee buying them. He didn’t expect it to be a special supply here…
Manager Fang smiled and nodded: “Yes, Mr. Qian has a good eye. Our Young Master prefers sweets, so we specially invited this master.”
Jiang Yunian sat quietly on the soft sofa, looking at the pastries that were as exquisite as artworks, not daring to reach out. He knew these things were definitely very expensive.
“Eat, what are you staring blankly for?” Qian Cheng noticed his restraint and nudged him with his elbow. “Don’t act like you haven’t seen the world. With my relationship with my cousin, maybe I’ll be given an executive position in the future. Just consider today as riding my coattails in advance, don’t feel burdened.”
Manager Fang also chimed in at the right time, “Mr. Jiang, please enjoy. This is a rare opportunity; if you don’t try it now, it might not be easy to eat it in the future.”
Looking at the tempting pastries, Jiang Yunian finally failed to resist the temptation. He carefully picked up a piece and took a small bite. The texture was exceptionally wonderful—soft, fragrant, and delicate, with the sweetness just right. It melted in the mouth, leaving an endless aftertaste. He cherished it as he finished one piece, thinking to himself that if he really couldn’t eat it ever again, he would probably always miss this taste.
It was simply too delicious.
After resting for a while, Manager Fang continued to lead them on the tour. This time, the destination was the R&D department Qian Cheng was looking forward to the most.
When they reached the entrance of the R&D department, Manager Fang apologetically stopped Jiang Yunian: “Sorry, Mr. Jiang, the R&D department involves the company’s core projects. According to regulations, only Mr. Qian is allowed to enter for the tour.”
Jiang Yunian froze for a moment, then nodded understandingly. For this kind of core department, of course, outsiders couldn’t just enter casually. Besides, he didn’t have much interest in game development anyway, so waiting outside was fine.
As soon as Qian Cheng heard that only he could go in, his little vanity instantly inflated. See, his cousin really did treat him as one of his own! He cleared his throat, trying hard to suppress his rising the corners of his mouth, and put on airs for Jiang Yunian, patting his shoulder: “Ahem, it’s not that your bro won’t take you in, it’s mainly because the rules are there. Just stay here.”
Jiang Yunian gave an “Mm”, feeling very calm. They were the real family, while he himself wasn’t from the same world as them; being treated differently was understandable.
Manager Fang swiped her card and led Qian Cheng into the strictly controlled R&D area. Just as they entered, the male assistant wearing glasses from earlier walked over and said politely: “Mr. Jiang, please follow me to the lounge to wait. This way, please.”
Jiang Yunian felt he looked a bit familiar; he seemed to be the person who had called Jiang Yan away earlier. He didn’t overthink it and followed him toward another elevator.
The elevator went all the way up, the numbers constantly jumping, finally stopping at the top floor.
What kind of lounge needed to be on the top floor? His intuition told him something was wrong. It wasn’t until the male assistant led him to an astoundingly spacious office and he saw the figure sitting in the office chair with his back to him that he suddenly realized—what lounge? This was clearly Jiang Yan’s office!
Fooled again.
Hearing the noise, Jiang Yan spun the chair around, stood up without much surprise, and pulled him by the wrist to bring him inside: “Ge, tired from walking? Sit here and rest a while.”
Jiang Yunian, however, yanked his hand behind his back, avoiding his touch, his eyes carrying obvious vigilance.
That outstretched hand stopped in mid-air. Jiang Yan indifferently withdrew it: “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything.”
He guided the person to the nearby sofa. On the coffee table, steam curled up, carrying the fragrance of tea. He pushed a cup of clear, translucent tea toward Jiang Yunian.
“Try this, freshly delivered new tea.”
Jiang Yunian looked at the cup of tea and didn’t move: “I just drank downstairs.”
“This will be a bit better than the one downstairs.” Jiang Yan picked up a cup, took a sip, and spoke unhurriedly.
Jiang Yunian didn’t speak, his eyes unconsciously drifting to the teacup. Eventually, he picked it up and took a sip. It did indeed have an extra trace of mellowness compared to the tea in the reception room, and he couldn’t help but silently take several more sips.
A certain someone quietly took a seat beside him, leaving a fist-sized distance between them. “If you like it, you can come often in the future.”
“No thanks.” Jiang Yunian put down the teacup and lowered his eyelashes: “Drinking too much makes it easy to lose sleep at night.”
As if thinking of something, Jiang Yan let out a low chuckle. He leaned his body slightly forward and said pointedly: “Didn’t Ge sleep quite well that night?”
While speaking, his body moved closer, inch by inch forcing the person into the corner of the sofa. His warm breath brushed past his auricle. “After it was over, Ge clearly fell asleep very fast, leaving me alone… It was uncomfortable for a long time.”
Listening to this, Jiang Yunian’s cheeks burned, even his neck flushed pink. He wished he could shrink into a mushroom and hide. Being forced by Jiang Yan with nowhere to dodge, and with the other party still constantly approaching, he couldn’t help but stand up…
“Splash!”
He was still holding the teacup in his hand. Because he stood up too abruptly, the remaining tea in the cup suddenly splashed out. As coincidence would have it, it poured entirely over the other party’s pants, and exactly in that area.
Jiang Yan: “…”
For a moment, the air fell dead silent, and all movements from the two came to a halt.
The dark water stain seeped into the light-colored fabric, looking extremely conspicuous. Jiang Yunian was so embarrassed he could dig a hole in the floor with his toes. Flustered, he grabbed a few tissues and instinctively wanted to wipe that puddle of water. Reaching out halfway, he got a clear look at the area and lost his nerve, stuck in a dilemma. He could only silently hand the tissues over for him to wipe himself.
Jiang Yan leisurely watched this embarrassed, cute appearance of his. He didn’t take the tissues, but instead grasped that hand and slowly guided it toward himself.
Jiang Yunian got a fright and tried to pull it back, but the other’s strength was immense; he couldn’t break free at all.
That wad of tissues, slowly wiping along the tea stain, rising and falling through the thin fabric, made his scalp tingle. He wished he could vanish on the spot. He wanted to shake him off, but his wrist was held firmly in a death grip, wiping back and forth until his hand practically didn’t feel like his own anymore.
Finally managing to deal with the obvious surface mess, the other’s grip loosened. Jiang Yunian immediately yanked his hand back, his fingertips tingling, stiff beyond belief.
Jiang Yan wickedly curled the corners of his lips, pointing at the spot on his pants that, although wiped, still bore an obvious mark: “What should we do? This tea seems to have left a stain.”
“Wash, washing it will be fine…”
But the other party said this kind of fabric couldn’t be washed with water, and asked him what to do? He just bought it, only wore it once.
Jiang Yunian took a deep breath, mustering his courage: “Then I’ll… compensate you.”
Jiang Yan raised an eyebrow, leisurely quoting a figure: “Fifty thousand for a pair, are you sure?”
Jiang Yunian instantly gasped, his eyes going round. Fifty thousand for a pair of pants? Wasn’t this daylight robbery?
His frightened little expression was truly adorable. A trace of a smile flashed through Jiang Yan’s eyes. He straightened his expression, pointing to a tightly closed door inside the office, and coaxed: “If Ge is willing to accompany me in there to change pants, we’ll let this matter drop.”
The space behind that door was his private lounge.
Anyone with eyes could tell what would happen if they went in. Jiang Yunian absolutely wouldn’t fall for his trick. He thought pessimistically, a secondhand pair of pants shouldn’t be thirty thousand, right? After hesitating for a moment, he gritted his teeth: “Then write an IOU.”
Jiang Yan: “…”
He genuinely didn’t expect that his Ge would rather take on debt than be alone with him for a little while. The smile on his face faded a bit, carrying some self-mockery: “Is Ge this scared of me? Afraid of what I’ll do to you? I already told you, I won’t do anything.”
Jiang Yunian had just spoken on impulse and regretted it as soon as the words left his mouth. Thirty thousand was not 3 bucks, who wouldn’t feel the sting? Hearing him say this, he looked up at the other party, a bit hesitant.
Jiang Yan revealed an expression that could be called sincere, even raising one hand: “I promise. Besides, Qian Cheng is still here, what could I possibly do?”
Thinking about it, it made sense. Qian Cheng was still downstairs and probably wouldn’t stay much longer; he would definitely come looking for him. Jiang Yan wouldn’t go as far as doing anything excessive to him in an office where someone could walk in at any time, right?
As he hesitated, Jiang Yan wrapped an arm around his shoulders, half-pushing, half-guiding him toward the lounge.
Who knew that the moment they entered the lounge and the door closed, Jiang Yan would reveal his wolf tail, immediately pouncing on him onto the large bed.
Jiang Yunian jumped in fright, immediately realizing he’d been tricked. With his heart pounding wildly, he covered his mouth, his eyes wide and round.
However, Jiang Yan didn’t make any further moves. He just leaned down and planted a light kiss on the back of the hand covering his mouth, as if only to slightly relieve the long-accumulated yearning.
Then he stood up, right in front of him, cleanly and swiftly stripping off the pants dirtied by the tea stain, tossing them aside.
Jiang Yan’s figure was excellent—broad shoulders, narrow waist, smooth and distinct muscle lines, and a pair of long, straight, and powerful legs. Jiang Yunian’s eyes couldn’t help but dart around; he absolutely didn’t dare to look in that direction.
Jiang Yan took out another pair of pants from the closet, measured them against himself, and asked him: “How about changing into this pair?”
Jiang Yunian turned his face to the side, pretending to study the patterns on the wall, not uttering a word.
The surroundings suddenly quieted down. He waited for a moment and, hearing no movement, couldn’t help but quietly turn his head to see what was going on. As a result, the instant he turned his head, Jiang Yan once again pounced down like an agile wild beast, pinning him beneath him!
“Mm… What, what do you want to do now…”
Didn’t they agree he wouldn’t do anything? He had actually believed this guy’s nonsense.
“Don’t move.” Jiang Yan used his body to suppress his struggles. His deep voice held a warning, yet also carried a trace of thinly veiled exhaustion: “If you keep moving around, and something happens, Ge really won’t be able to leave today.”
Jiang Yunian was intimidated by the implied threat in his words and didn’t dare to wriggle around heavily anymore, but he still trembled slightly.
Seeing him obediently stop moving, the person on top of him finally rolled over, changing into a side-lying posture, but still pulling him into his embrace, pressing against his head and nuzzling him affectionately. “Sleep with me for a while, I’m so sleepy…”
Jiang Yunian was stunned: “…Ah?”
S-Sleep?
“But Qian…”
Before he could finish, his mouth was firmly clamped shut.
Jiang Yan lifted his head, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
From the undisguised possessiveness in his eyes, Jiang Yunian recalled past experiences and knew he didn’t like it when he brought up other men in front of him. He instantly fell silent; he wouldn’t dare say such things again.
The hand covering his mouth then released. Jiang Yan rubbed the space between his own eyebrows, carrying a bit of weariness: “I had someone send him away, he won’t be out for a while.”
After saying that, he pulled the person tightly into his arms again, lowered his head to press a gentle kiss onto his smooth forehead, and finally rested his head in the crook of his neck, slowly closing his eyes.
Jiang Yunian stiffly let himself be circled in his embrace, not daring to move an inch. The scent of his breathing was once again invaded by Jiang Yan’s familiar aura, and his brain seemed to be smoked dizzy by it, going completely blank.
He didn’t have the mind to worry about Qian Cheng, nor the annoying rumors. Surrounded by a familiar embrace in this unfamiliar environment, his tense nerves relaxed, and he actually felt a trace of drowsiness welling up…
