After the Little Foolish Servant Died, Yu Shao Went Mad Chapter 4

Chapter 4: How Could I Not Love Yuanyuan?

Shen Yuan stood at the top of the fifth-floor stairs, his legs trembling. His arms were pinned behind his back by Bodyguard Qi, making it impossible for him to move.

He looked at the hard, cold stone steps through blurred, teary eyes. The spiraling metal banister wound its way down, seemingly without end, but the sense of being suspended in the air was enough to fill him with dread.

Yu Xiuqing leaned in slightly, close to his ear. A morbid, cold smile played on his lips as his voice took on a seductive quality:

“Yuanyuan, do you want to roll down there? Just like a soccer ball, slowly, rolling all the way down.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Yuan’s body jolted. His pupils shrank, the color drained from his face, and he shook his head desperately.

He turned his face toward the man, his eyelashes fluttering frantically as tears fell in rapid succession. He pleaded relentlessly:

“No… no, I don’t want to! I beg you, Mister Yu, I don’t want to roll down from here. I’ll die… Xiansheng, the baby and I will both die…”

“How could that be? It’ll be so much fun.”

The emotion in Yu Xiuqing’s eyes was tender yet cruel. A sharp fingernail lightly traced the youth’s cheek before traveling down to those two soft, pink lips. The delicate sensation was something he couldn’t bear to let go of, and his finger slid slowly across them.

But then his tone turned to one of loathing: “Besides, Yuanyuan is carrying someone else’s bastard. Can we even keep it?”

The cold touch of the fingertip pierced from his lips straight to the bottom of his heart. Shen Yuan’s body shuddered, his eyes filled with despair.

With a thud, he knelt before the man. He looked up blankly, his small face suddenly deathly pale and streaked with tears. He cried out heart-wrenchingly:

“That’s not someone else’s bastard… it’s Mister Yu’s! Yuanyuan isn’t lying… it’s what Xiansheng left behind the night he was drunk. Please… please spare the baby…”

Yu Xiuqing leaned down. Looking at that pear blossom face—so piteous and small—he couldn’t help but reach out to wipe away a stray tear, rubbing it between his fingers.

The tracks soaked by tears felt faintly painful. He suddenly felt as though something had lightly gouged his heart, and a layer of dimness appeared in his gaze.

But that inexplicable emotion vanished as quickly as it had come. Yu Xiuqing straightened his back and took a step away. He opened his thin lips and slowly spat out a single word:

“Push.”

The moment the word left his mouth, Shen Yuan felt a powerful force hit his back, shoving him forward!

He stumbled, having no time to react before he went tumbling down the stairs in a pathetic heap.

His head struck the hard marble steps with a muffled thud. Two streaks of blood flowed from his temple, staining the white wall and the steps.

One flight, two flights, three flights…

Whenever he hit a corner of the landing and stopped, the bodyguard would pick him up and throw him down again.

Tumbling from the fifth floor to the first, every step was stained with his blood. It was a gruesome sight.

One last muffled sound—the heavy thud of a body hitting the floor echoed in the silent hallway.

Shen Yuan was dazed and battered, his ears ringing and his vision blurred by blood.

Pain. It hurt so much…

Only that one word remained in his mind.

He lay on his side on the cold, hard floor, his head broken and bleeding. His lips moved slightly, but no sound came out; however, his mouth seemed to be whispering “baby”…

Between his two slender legs, a line of startling blood slowly trickled down, reaching all the way to his ankles.

Shen Yuan moved his pale, thin hand slightly, inching it toward his abdomen, only to touch something sticky.

the entire world spun; he couldn’t tell which way was up.

Through his blurred vision, he vaguely saw a tall, slender black figure slowly walking toward him.

Shen Yuan struggled to lift his head, only to see a pair of deep, cold eyes staring at him…

Then, his vision went black, and he completely lost consciousness.

This time, Shen Yuan was unconscious for a full day and night before he woke up in a hospital bed.

The first thing the little fool did upon waking wasn’t crying out in pain. Instead, he anxiously reached for his flat abdomen, but he could no longer feel the faint bulge or pulse that had been there.

It was gone. It had vanished forever.

“Little one, where did you go? Don’t leave me…” His voice was terrified and disbelieving.

The little fool began to wail. For a while, the entire hospital room was filled with his heart-wrenching cries.

At this moment, he finally understood why everyone always called him a useless waste.

“It’s gone.”

A calm male voice suddenly came from beside the bed.

Because his attention was diverted, the frequency of Shen Yuan’s sobbing slowed. He looked timidly at the man.

But as soon as he remembered that it was Mister Yu’s cruelty that caused him to lose the baby who had been his companion day and night, he immediately cried even harder, his mouth shouting out accusations:

“Yu Xiuqing, you’re a big demon!”

The next second, a heavy slap landed unceremoniously on his face. Five bright red finger marks immediately appeared.

Mister Yu’s dark voice rang out from above, sounding as if it came from the depths of the eighteenth level of hell:

“Shut up. It was only three months old, and it belonged to another man. What use was there in keeping it?”

Shen Yuan covered his burning cheek, his teeth biting into his soft lip. His sobbing gradually quieted.

He used a defensive gaze, like that of a kitten—cautious yet laced with a hint of resentment—to look at the man.

Seeing this, Yu Xiuqing felt a flash of displeasure.

He liked seeing terror, obedience, and dependence on this beautiful face, but he hated seeing even a single spark of resentment.

His ruthless mood instantly vanished, replaced by his usual calm and tenderness. He leaned down and lightly pressed his thin lips against the youth’s forehead.

His large hands lovingly cradled that delicate, small face. He curled his lips into a smile, coaxing him:

“Be good. Yuanyuan, don’t cry. It’s alright. Shall we have another baby?”

The youth shrank back, shaking his head while biting his lip. His voice was filled with tremors and fear, but for the first time, he stubbornly refused: “No… I don’t want to!”

His body was still very weak, and now, having suffered such a great shock and sorrow, he couldn’t stop shaking.

Yu Xiuqing frowned, his eyes darkening. He increased the pressure on the boy’s face, patiently coaxing: “Yuanyuan is so cute; the baby you give birth to will surely be very cute too. Don’t you want a cute, chubby little baby?”

Of course Shen Yuan wanted one. He instinctively wanted to nod, but the man’s smile made him feel afraid from the bottom of his heart. He shook his head hurriedly. “Mister Yu doesn’t love me. I don’t want it anymore.”

“How could I not love Yuanyuan?”

“Re… really?”

The youth was half-skeptical, yet he craved love far too much.

“Of course.”

Yu Xiuqing answered without hesitation. Then, he stroked the boy’s small hand: “If I didn’t love Yuanyuan, I wouldn’t have just torn off your nails; I would have severed your tendons and bones instead.”

Saying this, he smiled—a smile that was hard to read—and said softly: “After all, every time I have insomnia, I need the lullabies Yuanyuan plays to fall asleep.”

Shen Yuan was stunned, his long, curled eyelashes drooping.

The man crouched down and carefully put the boy’s shoes on. “Yuanyuan must be hungry now, right? Let’s go home and eat, okay? If you don’t eat, you won’t have the strength to carry a baby.”

This tender version of Mister Yu was something Shen Yuan couldn’t refuse. As if possessed, he nodded: “Okay…”
