Chapter 3: Touched Enough?
Perhaps because so much had happened that day, Shen Zhouyue fell asleep very quickly.
When he woke up, it was already the next morning.
He found himself nestled entirely in Yu Tingzhou’s embrace. One of his hands was wrapped around the man’s firm waist, while the other rested on Yu Tingzhou’s chest, where he could faintly feel the steady beat of the heart beneath his palm.
Shen Zhouyue stared blankly at the honey-colored chest before him. His mind was still groggy and not fully awake, and he couldn’t resist reaching out to squeeze the muscle.
The resilient, firm texture was so pleasant he didn’t want to let go.
“Have you touched enough?”
The voice ringing in his ear carried a grit of suppressed frustration, successfully rebooting Shen Zhouyue’s brain and snapping him awake.
His eyes went wide, and his face flushed red. He immediately retracted his hand, wishing he could pull the blanket over his head and disappear.
His feet, hidden under the covers, curled up in nervousness. His thigh could faintly feel a hard, scorching heat against it, which only made him more uncomfortable.
“So… sorry…”
Yu Tingzhou didn’t say a word. He just walked toward the bathroom with a dark expression.
Shen Zhouyue sat up in bed, watching Yu Tingzhou’s angry retreating back. The blush on his face was slowly cooled by the air conditioner, returning to its normal color.
Glancing at the clothes hanging on the balcony, he hurriedly took the opportunity to change out of Yu Tingzhou’s shirt.
When he picked up the small piece of fabric that served as his underwear, he could vaguely smell the scent of cedarwood that belonged to Yu Tingzhou.
His face instantly burned red again. With his heart pounding wildly in his chest, he quickly got dressed. Yu Tingzhou walked out just then, carrying a chill air about him.
He didn’t look at Shen Zhouyue. Instead, he walked straight to the door, tried the handle, and found that the door that had been locked tight last night could now be pushed open.
Without a word, he opened the door and walked out.
Seeing Shen Zhouyue still standing in the room without moving, he frowned. “Are you reluctant to leave?”
Shen Zhouyue shook his head hurriedly.
“I just think it’s impolite for us to leave so early without saying goodbye to Uncle and Auntie.”
Yu Tingzhou rubbed his temples, which were throbbing from a lack of sleep. There were faint dark circles under his eyes.
“I’ll handle it.”
Saying that, he walked out of the room still wearing his pajamas.
Seeing him like this, Shen Zhouyue raised his hand several times to call out to him, but remembering the awkwardness from earlier, he silently lowered his hand and followed behind him, step for step, like a mistreated little wife.
It was still early, and downstairs, only Auntie Chen was busy in the kitchen.
Hearing the movement in the living room, she looked over and saw Yu Tingzhou and Shen Zhouyue about to leave. She asked quickly, “Tingzhou, aren’t you going to eat breakfast before you go?”
Before Yu Tingzhou could answer, Fang Hanyun came downstairs.
She was wearing a light-colored qipao that outlined her curvy figure. Walking up to Yu Tingzhou, she noticed the dark circles under his eyes. “Did you not sleep well last night?”
Seeing Fang Hanyun gave Yu Tingzhou a headache.
Thinking of the situation last night, he couldn’t help but complain, “Mom, can you stop doing these strange things?”
“You locked my room door. If something had happened, we wouldn’t have even been able to run.”
Fang Hanyun glared at Yu Tingzhou and said with dissatisfaction, “Everything is fine, what kind of accident could happen? Don’t always talk nonsense!”
Knowing that his mother wouldn’t let it go without a clear result, Yu Tingzhou thought about his upcoming schedule and said, “I plan to take Zhouyue on a honeymoon next week.”
“I’ve already gotten married as you wished. Don’t meddle in other things anymore, Mom.”
Hearing this, Fang Hanyun bristled.
She put her hands on her hips, raised her slender eyebrows, and said angrily, “If you weren’t my son, do you think I’d be happy to manage you?”
“You unconscionable brat!”
The more she spoke, the angrier she got. Fang Hanyun’s face flushed red, and her breathing became rapid.
Shen Zhouyue was worried Fang Hanyun might get sick from anger, so he hurriedly stepped forward to support her, soothingly saying, “Auntie, please don’t be angry. Tingzhou just didn’t sleep well, so he misspoke. That’s not what he means in his heart.”
“Look, he’s leaving without even changing out of his pajamas. His brain must be groggy, he doesn’t know what he’s saying.”
Hearing Shen Zhouyue’s words, Yu Tingzhou looked down at himself and realized he had indeed come down in his pajamas.
He had originally planned to drop Shen Zhouyue off and go straight to the company. If he went to the company like this, it would definitely arouse curiosity.
He couldn’t bother discussing the wedding with Fang Hanyun anymore. Looking outwardly calm but with frantic footsteps, he returned to the bedroom.
Once Yu Tingzhou was out of sight, Shen Zhouyue persuaded her more boldly, “We understand your good intentions. In a while, when my family is available, I will definitely arrange for them to meet you.”
Shen Zhouyue spoke at a steady, unhurried pace. Even when emotions ran high, he didn’t speed up, which had a very soothing effect.
Comforted by him, Fang Hanyun’s emotions slowly calmed down. She glared at Yu Tingzhou, who was coming back down from upstairs. “Forget it, why should I bicker with him? Just like his father, all he knows is how to piss me off.”
Yu Qingfeng stood to the side, not daring to speak, afraid the fire of war would spread to him.
“You’re still the best, Zhouyue. When your family is free, remember to arrange it!”
Shen Zhouyue nodded. Just as he was about to say something, he was dragged out by Yu Tingzhou.
“What did you say to my mom to make her so happy?”
Shen Zhouyue didn’t notice the suspicion in Yu Tingzhou’s eyes and simply repeated what he had just said.
“We’re getting divorced in a year. You still remember that, right?”
Yu Tingzhou looked at Shen Zhouyue suspiciously, feeling he might have other plans.
Worried that Shen Zhouyue wouldn’t let go when the agreement expired and would cause trouble, Yu Tingzhou warned, “Don’t do anything unnecessary.”
“I know. When the time comes, I will leave. I won’t entangle you.”
Once I have the umbilical cord blood to save An’an… I won’t stay…
Shen Zhouyue touched his stomach imperceptibly, lowered his head, and said nothing.
