Chapter 16: Holding Hands with the Top Donor for the First Time part 1
“The weather is nice today, you picked a good time. It was very overcast at this time yesterday afternoon.”
Hearing the voice, Qi En turned his head.
He saw a man dressed all in white standing next to Dai Mu.
The man was simply too tall and large; standing beside Qi En and Dai Mu, his imposing presence seemed to suppress them both.
Dai Mu’s tone was strange, lacking the gentleness he used when speaking to Qi En. “Where is the stuff?”
Only then did Qi En realize that this man must be the contact person handling the weapon handover.
Dai Mu had said the gun was custom-made, so was this man a gunsmith?
The man swept a glance over Qi En. Qi En felt an inexplicable, nervous sense of oppression and instinctively lowered his head.
He heard the man say, “Brought it.”
Dai Mu spoke coldly, using a business-like tone devoid of any emotion or politeness. “Don’t scare him. There’s no one else here, give me the stuff.”
“I scared him?”
Qi En didn’t dare say a word.
“Then why is he so afraid of you?”
“Heh.”
The man let out a cold sneer.
Then, the man seemed to take something out and hand it to Dai Mu.
Qi En caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye, then retracted his gaze as if he had seen nothing.
“You can get lost now.”
The man scoffed again.
Then he pulled down his cap and left.
Qi En felt like there was some personal grudge between them.
However, the direction the man left in wasn’t the direction of the changing rooms they came from.
Was that place the wilderness?
But where would there be wilderness in Zone B? It must be a hotel disguised as wilderness.
Is the gun this man brought really usable?
“En-En?”
Hearing Dai Mu call him, Qi En looked up.
Dai Mu placed a gun bag, about the size of a palm, into the pocket of Qi En’s shorts. He then whispered in his ear, “There are ten bullets and two magazines inside. It might not be enough, but use it for now. Don’t use it recklessly, save them.”
“Okay.” Qi En gulped.
A gun and so many bullets were pressed against his thigh. He found it hard to move his legs, and his walking posture became a bit strange.
The two caddies who had left earlier returned. According to them, the club at their original spot had been damaged, so they went to get new ones.
To compensate them, they even gave them several clubs of some brand for free.
Qi En didn’t understand brands, so he didn’t catch the name clearly.
Standing on the grass, his nose was filled with the scent of grass baked by the sun. It was very fresh.
Watching the caddies repairing the green not far away, Qi En asked Dai Mu beside him:
“Why didn’t we go to the shooting range? Why the golf course?”
“Because Cheng Xun is at the only professional shooting range in Zone B.”
Moreover, the route Qi En took by taxi from his home wouldn’t overlap with Cheng Xun’s. Plus, the privacy here was excellent, so Dai Mu felt safe choosing this place.
Hearing Cheng Xun’s name, Qi En’s conditioned reflex kicked in, and he entered a state of alert.
Dai Mu comforted him, “No need to be too nervous, relax a little.”
“I checked. Cheng Xun has a schedule at the shooting range today. The range isn’t here; it’s in another part of Zone B. No matter what, it’s impossible to run into him here.”
“Phew, that’s good.”
Qi En was afraid Cheng Xun would appear too suddenly, and he hadn’t figured out how to act yet. It wouldn’t be good if he were seen through.
“This course has excellent privacy. Member information and visitor information won’t be leaked casually. That’s also why I chose this place.”
Thinking of the things he looked up on the way, not knowing if they were true or false, Qi En asked, “Is the membership fee here very expensive?”
“Eight or nine million, I guess.”
“That expensive?” It was indeed similar to what Qi En saw online.
“Then Little D, are you a member?”
“No, my friend is a member. He happened to be passing by here too, so I’m mooching off him.”
“Little D’s friends are all so amazing too.”
Hearing Qi En praise someone else, Dai Mu was a little unhappy. “He’s not amazing… let’s not talk about this.”
His topic returned to Cheng Xun:
“Cheng Xun is insidious, cunning, cruel, and vicious. You must be careful when executing the mission. It’s best if you can kill him, but don’t force it if you can’t. Protecting yourself is the most important thing. As long as you can protect yourself, I can guarantee no one will trace you. Even if Cheng Xun calls the police, it’s useless.”
“If you feel something is wrong, don’t continue. Just retreat directly. Cheng Xun is very vigilant and has strong counter-reconnaissance skills. The members caught by him before were all…”
“What happened to them all?” Qi En gulped.
“One was tortured to extract a confession and wasn’t even allowed to commit suicide. He was tortured to death alive. There was another member with no family or friends, who was taken by Cheng Xun to the member’s ancestral grave and chopped into pieces. And…”
“Wait, I don’t want to hear anymore.”
Qi En’s heart was beating so fast.
Connecting those miserable consequences to himself, he didn’t dare to make a move at all.
He would have nightmares at night.
So scary, forget it quickly.
Better to think about that one billion.
One billion, one billion, one billion, one billion…
One less bad person in the world, and one more billionaire with assets of one billion…
For such a good thing, God should be on his side, right?
Qi En engaged in self-hypnosis in his heart, as if performing a ritual.
Dai Mu looked at Qi En, whose eyes were tightly shut, thinking Qi En had been stimulated too much, and didn’t know whether to continue speaking.
He hesitated, cleared his throat, and said:
“After listening to what you said yesterday, I tailored an assassination plan for you. It’s perfectly suitable for your current awkward relationship.”
Qi En couldn’t help but lower his voice, “Then what should I do?”
Two fluffy heads leaned together, looking mysterious.
Dai Mu narrowed his eyes. “Given that you have no experience as a hitman, you’d better utilize your existing advantages and use softness to overcome hardness.”
“Am I… soft?” Qi En pointed at himself, asking uncertainly.
“Soft.” Dai Mu’s tone was certain. “Anyway, those old-fashioned methods aren’t suitable. You aren’t suited to clash with him head-on; fighting is definitely out. And forget about honey traps or whatever; Cheng Xun’s personality doesn’t buy that.”
“I’ve customized a three-day crash course for you.”
“What course?”
“Hitman training class. Only after passing can you be considered officially on probation.”
“Your first target right out of the gate is a max-level boss. It’s hell mode for you. But what if you clear it? Your value and status will skyrocket.”
“By then, you’ll change from a laborer to someone controlling power. Only after controlling power will you know how cool that feels. At that time, I can be your little brother, and I’ll even call you ‘Brother’.”
Qi En felt that Dai Mu might be used to being a leader; his words had a strong flavor of being marinated in corporate culture—
Painting a pie in the sky (Making empty promises).
Qi En’s brain circuitry was different from Dai Mu’s; his focus was a bit askew. “Can’t you call me that now?”
“Brother Qi? Forget it, it’s a bit weird. I’ll stick to calling you…”
“Calling me what?”
Dai Mu scratched his chin a bit awkwardly. “Nothing, let’s continue.”
“Just use what you learn and assassinate him normally. It’s not like you stop learning after these three days. You have to learn from every failure and improve the assassination method for the next time.”
“I’ll emphasize again, if you fail or miss the best assassination opportunity, just run away directly. I’m here to clean up after you, so just do it with peace of mind.”
“If I get discovered by him… it’ll be fine too, right?”
“Is it really fine?” Qi En was suspicious, his brows furrowed into a deep frown.
“Haven’t you noticed? For someone as suspicious as him, he didn’t suspect you were a bad person at all when he first met you. Instead, he kept saying others were bad people to scare you.”
“True.” Qi En nodded.
“That means, even if he discovers you at the assassination scene, he will find a reason to convince himself.”
“Convince himself of what?” Qi En suspected he heard wrong and confirmed again.
“Convince himself that you aren’t a bad person.”
“……”
What an unreliable method.
“Then I’d better be careful and not let him discover me.”
Qi En was still more inclined to believe Cheng Xun would chop him into pieces.
