Chapter 11: The Cannon Fodder in a Dogblood Novel (11)
When Shen Tangqing pushed the door open, the room was still in full swing.
Seeing Shen Tangqing, Zhou Geng extinguished the cigarette in his mouth and waved at him with a smile.
Lin Mu beside him didn’t look up. The slightly drooping arc of his eyes carried a few degrees of carelessness.
His slender fingers unconsciously rubbed the wall of the glass. Condensed water droplets dripped through the gaps between his fingers into his palm, bringing a patch of wetness, yet he seemed unaware.
It wasn’t until Shen Tangqing sat down that he seemed to come back to his senses and downed the wine in his glass in one go.
“Brother Mu, you haven’t been challenged yet and you’re drinking again?” The tall boy sitting opposite Lin Mu teased him with a smile.
Lin Mu hooked the corner of his lips and placed the empty glass casually on the table, his voice lazy. “Thirsty.”
Over here, as soon as Shen Tangqing sat down, Little Yellow Hair pushed the dice cup over, teasing: “Little Shen, after you left they kept challenging me. Too hateful.”
Little Yellow Hair must have drunk quite a bit; his whole face down to the base of his neck was red through. He shouldn’t be called Little Yellow Hair anymore, he could be called Little Red Face directly.
Shen Tangqing couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. “You’re pulling me back to be a scapegoat?”
“How could that be? This is called—sharing weal and woe.”
Shen Tangqing curved his eyes and didn’t speak again.
His fingers touched the cold cup wall and shook it twice. The crisp sound of dice colliding mixed with the alcohol fumes filling the room spread out.
It was okay at first, as the chubby guy sitting next to him didn’t keep challenging him.
But not long after, the bad luck returned. Lin Mu was too good at playing, calling right on the dot every time. If he challenged Lin Mu, he had to drink; if he didn’t challenge Lin Mu, he would be challenged by the chubby guy and still had to drink. It was simply a dilemma.
After drinking a few more glasses of wine, Shen Tangqing felt he was nearing his limit.
Suddenly, something lightly swept his calf—
Like the hem of clothes brushing past, or someone accidentally extending the wrong foot and touching his calf, inciting a burst of itchiness.
Shen Tangqing bent down to look with delayed reaction, but it seemed there was nothing.
He frowned and leaned against the sofa, rubbing his temples. Really drunk, already starting to hallucinate.
By the end of the game,
Everyone was high on alcohol.
Little Yellow Hair had directly collapsed on the sofa and “fainted.” Shen Tangqing still had consciousness, but his head was dizzy and his eyelids were heavy. He leaned against the sofa without opening his eyes.
The remaining few were either leaning against the sofa with dull expressions or screaming and acting crazy from the booze.
Zhou Geng had also drunk a bit too much. He braced against the sofa back trying to sit up straight, but his body was weak all over. He simply slid down along the backrest, leaning there with eyes half-squinted.
He mumbled and fished his phone out of his pocket. It took a long time to dial the butler’s number, his voice somewhat slurred.
“Drunk… send a few people up… help them back to the rooms.”
Lin Mu leaned on the sofa next to him. Usually the one who could drink the most, at this moment his eye tails were also red.
He stared blankly at Shen Tangqing who was “resting his eyes” nestled in the sofa, as if possessed.
Soon,
The room door was pushed open.
Zhou Shuli stood at the door against the light. His gaze landed precisely on Shen Tangqing.
Subsequently seeing the mess on the floor inside, he couldn’t help but frown. He found it hard to step in.
“Eldest Young Master,” the servant’s voice behind him recalled Zhou Shuli’s thoughts. He was silent for a second, then endured the discomfort in his heart and walked in anyway.
“Brother, why… why are you here?”
Zhou Geng’s tongue was a bit tied when speaking. Seeing Zhou Shuli, his expression was surprised. Logically speaking, given his brother’s cleanliness freak nature, it was absolutely impossible for him to come in!
But he was drunk and his brain turned too slowly. His gaze fell on Zhou Shuli, waiting blankly for his answer.
Zhou Shuli’s tone was very cold, and his face was also cold.
In fact, he was indeed very repulsed by this messy environment after drinking. “Came to check on you guys.”
Zhou Geng gave an “Oh” and didn’t think much of it. “We’re—we’re fine.”
After speaking, he struggled to stand up from the sofa, but before he could straighten up, his legs went soft and he sat right back down on the sofa.
Zhou Shuli couldn’t help but frown. He turned and told the servants behind him to drag Zhou Geng back to his room.
Shen Tangqing’s consciousness was like being soaked in warm water, groggy and impossible to lift. He only felt a figure blocking the light overhead, the cast shadow covering his entire person.
He could feel the other party’s gaze landing on him, carrying a touch of coolness.
He wanted to open his eyes, but his eyelids were too heavy to lift.
It wasn’t until a servant tried to come help him that Zhou Shuli, standing in front of him, suddenly moved.
“Don’t touch him. I’ll do it.” Zhou Shuli’s voice was very light, but enough for the servant beside him to hear clearly.
The next second,
Shen Tangqing felt someone carefully support his back, and he was picked up in a princess carry.
The tip of his nose brushed against a patch of fabric smelling of cold wood, like cold pine after snow, or the smell of wood mixed with frost.
Shen Tangqing’s face pressed against the other party’s warm chest. The last bit of his consciousness sank into drunkenness, letting that person hold him in his arms.
Zhou Shuli didn’t take the elevator. Instead, he carried Shen Tangqing up the stairs step by step.
Although he was wearing gloves, holding Shen Tangqing in his arms, Zhou Shuli was still excited. An unspeakable, strange pleasure spread rapidly through his whole body following the direction of his palms, to the point that his body was actually trembling slightly.
It was like after suppression reached the extreme, the body suddenly emitted a burst of weird excitement.
That feeling gave him a trace of fear of the unknown, but more of it was longing and infatuation.
If I take off the gloves and have skin-to-skin contact with him, how…
Good would that feel.
But Zhou Shuli’s reason told him: Can’t do that yet.
Shen Tangqing was Zhou Geng’s friend, and…
He studied law; he absolutely could not knowingly break the law.
When he carried Shen Tangqing to the second floor, the others had already been sent to the arranged guest rooms one after another.
When Zhou Shuli passed his own room, his footsteps paused.
He hesitated for a moment.
Send Shen Tangqing to the guest room now? Or carry him into my own room?
The bed in his room was big enough; he could sleep even with four more people. But—
If he sleeps in the same bed as me, can I really resist not touching him?
Zhou Shuli considered himself a person with principles and a sense of morality.
But in the face of absolute temptation, could he really keep his principles?
He asked himself honestly.
He dared not be certain.
“Young Master, do you need me to open the door for you?” Butler Wang’s calm voice came from behind.
Obviously, he had just come down from the third floor. Except for Shen Tangqing and Lin Mu, the others were arranged in the guest bedrooms on the third floor.
His voice interrupted Zhou Shuli’s thoughts.
Turning his head, he saw Butler Wang with his hands hanging by his sides, eyes slightly lowered, a strictly standard smile hanging on his face.
Zhou Shuli knew that Butler Wang had seen through his thoughts.
His face turned cold. Since when is it a servant’s place to comment on my affairs? Glaring at Butler Wang, Zhou Shuli carried Shen Tangqing toward the guest bedroom at the end of the corridor, dropping only one sentence: “Butler Wang, sometimes being too smart isn’t necessarily a good thing.”
Butler Wang watched Zhou Shuli’s back. He reached out and pushed up the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
The corner of his mouth hooked into a playful smile as he murmured in a low voice, “Seems my flattery rubbed him the wrong way.”
