Chapter 3: The Incompetent and Malicious Ex-Boyfriend (3)
Shen Ci sat in his chair in front of his office desk. He was momentarily stunned when he saw Xiao Hu, the accountant, leading Ming Yanzhou in.
After Xiao Hu finished the introductions, Ming Yanzhou smiled and nodded at Shen Ci. “Brother, what a coincidence. I didnāt expect you to be the boss of this company.”
Shen Ci sized Ming Yanzhou up from head to toe.
With this kidās face and physique, being a loader was truly a waste of his potential. If he really needed money, heād be better off applying to be a male model at a bar; he could at least be a top-tier host.
“Youāre applying for the loader position?”
“Yes, Brother…” Ming Yanzhou started, then suddenly realized something and immediately corrected himself. “Boss, Iām strong and healthy. Iām perfectly capable of doing this job.”
Shen Ci: “…”
“How old are you? Not in school anymore?”
“Iām nineteen. I just started my break and wanted to find a summer job. My familyās situation isnāt very good…”
Shen Ciās brows furrowed slightly.
His gaze lingered on Ming Yanzhou, sizing him up secretly once more. This kid had the face of a pampered young master, though his clothes and appearance did look quite ordinary. Still, with a face like that, heād look good even if he were wearing a burlap sack.
After a momentās hesitation, Shen Ci spoke indifferently. “Youāre only doing temporary work for two months, so I canāt pay for your social security. However, I can give you an extra six hundred yuan on top of your base salary as compensation. Can you accept that?”
For students working summer jobs to help their families, Shen Ci wasn’t so heartless as to make them work completely “black” under the table.
“I can accept that,” Ming Yanzhou agreed without a second thought.
Shen Ci nodded. “Go outside and find Xiao Hu. Let her handle your onboarding. Youāll officially start work tomorrow.”
“Alright, Boss.”
Shen Ci let out a “tsk.” “Just call me Brother Shen like the others. Donāt go ‘Boss this’ and ‘Boss that,’ it feels weird.”
Ming Yanzhouās phoenix eyes curved, his smile beautiful and full of charm. “Alright, Brother Shen.”
Shen Ci glanced at him and then calmly withdrew his gaze. “Go on then.”

Shen Ci didn’t have to go out and fill in for anyone today, so he sat comfortably in his office, enjoying the air conditioning. He was just drifting off into a nap when he was woken by a phone call.
He checked it; it was the logistics company.
“Boss, the goods have arrived.”
“Didnāt you say youād arrive in the evening?”
“There wasn’t any traffic…”
Shen Ci looked at the sun outside and let out a sigh at his bitter fate. “Fine. Wait a few minutes; Iāll be right there.”
The three loaders were all out delivering goods, so he was the only one left who could unload. What else could Shen Ci do? He had to roll up his sleeves and get to work.
Just as he stepped out of the office, Ming Yanzhou, who was sitting in a corner outside, immediately stood up.
“Brother Shen, are you going out?”
Shen Ci didnāt expect Ming Yanzhou to still be there and froze for a second. “Why are you still here?”
Ming Yanzhou pursed his lips in embarrassment. “Brother Shen, I didnāt have anywhere else to go, so I just sat here for a while.”
Shen Ciās office had transparent glass walls. He hadn’t realized that after Ming Yanzhou finished his onboarding, he had been sitting in the corner staring at him the whole time.
Shen Ci didnāt think much of it and beckoned him over. “Want to make some extra cash?”
Like a puppy, Ming Yanzhou hurried over as soon as he was called, looking at Shen Ci expectantly. “I do.”
“Come help me with a shipment. Iāll give you fifty yuan. How about it?” The truckload wasn’t too much; it would take an hour or two to unload.
“That works, Brother Shen.”
Ming Yanzhou actually was a bit short on cash. Because he had nearly gotten himself killed in a car wreck while racing and refused to repent, his father had kicked him out of the house in a fit of rage and cut off all his cards to force him to admit his mistake.
He believed he had done nothing wrong. He was just chasing speed and passion. In racing, life and death were up to fate; if he died, he died. He had always viewed life and death quite lightly.
But now, looking at Shen Ci, he felt that being alive was actually quite good. At least he could still indulge in his “lustful” tendencies.

The warehouse wasn’t far, just a shop on the street behind the residential complex. Because it was on a backstreet, the rent was cheap. Combined with how spacious it was, Shen Ci had rented it for five years in one go.
The afternoon sun stung like fire against the skin. By the time they reached the warehouse, Shen Ciās forehead was already covered in beads of sweat. He wiped his brow and cursed the ghostly weather in his heart.
But curses aside, the work still had to be done. After greeting the logistics driver, they began moving the goods.
Although Ming Yanzhou was a rich kid, he exercised regularly and played extreme sports. He lacked the daintiness of a typical dandy and was perfectly capable of doing manual labor. To show off in front of Shen Ci, he worked exceptionally hard with his head down.
By the time the unloading was finished, Shen Ci was drenched in sweat. After catching his breath, he unhesitatingly lifted his T-shirt to wipe the sweat from his face.
The sight left Ming Yanzhou standing there, completely dazed.
His fair skin was glistening, and sweat trickled down his Adamās apple, collarbones, and along the lines of his muscles, landing on his lean waist before disappearing into the waistband of his gaudy shorts.
It left one with infinite room for imagination.
Ming Yanzhouās Adamās apple bobbed. His gaze then fell on Shen Ciās backside. It was very firm.
He reflected deeply on himself and concluded that he was a massive pervert and a huge creep. He had always thought he was a man of few desires who could join a monastery at any moment, not one of the same flock as Zhou Geng and those other playboys.
Looking at it now, if being lustful were a crime, he should be serving a life sentence. No, perhaps it was more serious than lifeābecause he was actually coveting a manās backside. This was terrifying.
Of course, he believed his moral standards were higher than Zhou Gengās and the othersā. After all, he was devoted. For example, now that he had set his sights on Shen Ci, it would be him for the rest of his life.
Shen Ci noticed Ming Yanzhouās gaze and turned to look at him. Seeing him covered in dust and sweat but with eyes full of energy, Shen Ci couldn’t help but laugh. He stepped forward and patted Ming Yanzhouās shoulder, praising him generously.
“Good kid. I didnāt expect you to actually have some strength. Hard work today. Letās add each other on WeChat later; Iāll transfer the money to you.”
Shen Ci withdrew his hand and suddenly asked, “Did Xiao Hu add you to the work group yet?”
Ming Yanzhou only felt the spot Shen Ci had patted burning faintly. Even his entire chest felt hot. His Adamās apple bobbed repeatedly as he suppressed the flirtatious thoughts in his heart. “Thanks, Brother Shen. Sister Hu already added me to our company group.”
Shen Ciās brows arched. Heād already started calling it “our company”; his level of awareness was quite high! The smile on his face deepened. “Alright. Do you have time tonight?”
“I do. What is it, Brother Shen?”
“A new colleague joined, so weāre having a group dinner tonight to welcome you. Coincidentally, no one is on leave today.”
“Thank you, Brother Shen.” Ming Yanzhou revealed a very obedient smile.
If his father saw that “worthless” look, heād probably think his son was possessed. One had to know that in his daily life, his son barely spoke a few words, let alone smiled at anyone. He had often thought that this kid was a debt collector sent from a past life, born with an emotional deficit and completely incapable of smiling.
