After the Straight Man Cannon Fodder Was Targeted by the Perverted Crazies Chapter 171 (vol. 2)

Chapter 11: The Incompetent and Malicious Ex-Boyfriend (11)

Pei Ye sat back down on the sofa and took a cigarette from the table. A bodyguard beside him, extremely perceptive, helped him light it. He took a drag and slowly exhaled the smoke before speaking.

“Which one here is your boyfriend?”

Shen Ci looked toward Ye Qi in the corner. Ye Qi’s gaze was also fixed on him, his expression full of worry.

Pei Ye followed Shen Ci’s gaze. When it landed on Ye Qi’s face, his brows arched slightly. He certainly had a fine appearance.

He looked up and gave a faint glance to the manager standing nearby, whose head was bowed so low it almost touched the floor. He spoke in a measured tone.

“Your Zunyan certainly knows how to pick people.” He took another drag of his cigarette, his expression cold yet revealing a high-and-mighty nobility. “Is he an escort… or for sale?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, both Ye Qi and Shen Ci’s expressions soured. This was no different from a blatant slap in the face.

The manager looked at Pei Ye with a fawning smile. “President Pei, he is a ser—”

Before the word “server” could be fully uttered, the manager saw Pei Ye’s expression turn cold. Under that deathly gaze, the manager quickly changed his tune. “He is an escort; we hired him as an escort.”

The manager still had a bit of humanity left and didn’t directly say he was for sale.

Ye Qi looked up sharply. He was clearly a server; how could he be an escort?

Pei Ye let out a soft laugh. “An escort? Escorts are good…”

His voice was a bit low, but in the silent hall, it reached everyone’s ears without missing a word.

“Come over here.”

He didn’t specify a name, but his gaze was on Ye Qi. Everyone present knew he was calling for Ye Qi.

Shen Ci stood in place, unable to help but frown. He didn’t know who Pei Ye was or exactly what he wanted to do, but it was clear he was not to be trifled with.

Ye Qi’s body stiffened for a moment, but he quickly reacted. He slowly climbed up from the ground. Having knelt for too long, his knees had almost lost all sensation, making his movements somewhat stiff.

He walked in front of Pei Ye. In the next second, Pei Ye kicked him in the knee. The sharp pain from his knee made Ye Qi’s face turn pale, and he fell to the ground with a thud.

Pei Ye looked at him coldly. “Truly doesn’t know the rules.”

Shen Ci suddenly snapped back to his senses, remembering his persona in front of Ye Qi. He stiffened his neck, stepped forward, and pulled Ye Qi up from the ground. He glared at Pei Ye with a face full of anger.

“Don’t just do whatever you want because you have money. He’s not working here anymore; we’re leaving now.”

Pei Ye looked at Shen Ci. No one had ever dared to be so insolent in front of him. However, he wasn’t angry. Perhaps it was because the man in front of him was… quite to his taste. Or perhaps it was because his angry look reminded him a bit of the stupid cat he raised—eyes wide and round, both foolish and a bit cute.

Afraid yet sticking his neck out for someone else; truly interesting. He had a bit more patience for him.

Shen Ci shielded Ye Qi behind him. Without Pei Ye’s word, they obviously couldn’t leave.

“You want to take him and leave?” Pei Ye leaned back on the sofa, showing no displeasure at being offended; his expression was a half-smile.

Shen Ci looked at Pei Ye with an expression of giving up all hope. “President Pei, you are a great man with a large heart; there’s no need to take issue with commoners like us…”

Pei Ye’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “No need to take issue?”

He slowly repeated those words, drawing out the end as if a cat were teasing a mouse. “You might not know, but I’m someone who loves to take issue the most.”

Shen Ci: “…”

“Then what exactly do you want?”

Pei Ye clicked his tongue and relit a cigarette. The slowly rising smoke blurred his features, making his expression unreadable. The hall remained as silent as a chicken. Everyone was waiting for Pei Ye to speak.

After a moment, Pei Ye pointed to the bottle of wine just opened on the table and spoke slowly.

“You can leave, but if you want to take your boyfriend with you, you have to drink this bottle of wine. How about it?”

Shen Ci’s gaze fell on the vodka in front of Pei Ye. If he finished this bottle, he’d probably end up straight in the hospital, wouldn’t he?

But he had to take Ye Qi away today. Whether because of the mission or because Ye Qi was his “boyfriend” in name, he couldn’t leave Ye Qi here.

“I’ll drink it.”

A trace of darkness flashed in Pei Ye’s eyes. “This wine is 88 proof.”

His voice was cold—a reminder and a warning.

Shen Ci: “…”

He turned to glance at Ye Qi. “Remember to take me to the hospital later.”

Ye Qi grabbed him and looked at Pei Ye. “President Pei, can I drink this bottle of wine?”

“Are you crazy? Why are you showing off when you can’t drink?” Shen Ci knew Ye Qi couldn’t drink. His own tolerance was okay; a bottle would just put him in the hospital. If Ye Qi drank a bottle, he’d probably go straight into a coffin.

“I can drink…”

Just as Ye Qi finished speaking, a BANG sound brought their argument to an abrupt halt. It was Pei Ye kicking the table.

His expression was somewhat sinister, and his contemptuous gaze landed on Ye Qi. His tone was vicious.

“What kind of thing are you to think you’re worthy of bargaining with me?”

He seemed to have completely lost his patience and looked quite manic. He clapped his hands. “Someone, take him—”

Before he could finish, Shen Ci lunged in front of Pei Ye with quick eyes and hands.

“President Pei, don’t be angry! I’ll drink! I can drink!”

As he finished, he grabbed the wine in front of Pei Ye and tilted his head back, pouring it down his throat. He drank a bit too fast, and wine stains ran down the corners of his mouth to his neck…

Pei Ye looked at his bobbing Adam’s apple, and for some reason, his heart felt a bit hot.

Halfway through, Shen Ci felt like his throat was about to explode from the burn. He bent over and clutched his stomach in pain, his other hand still deathly tight around the bottle.

Ye Qi hurried forward to support him, his usually cold face full of anxiety. He had never felt so powerless. Looking at Shen Ci, he was moved beyond words. He shouldn’t have doubted Shen Ci; Shen Ci loved him.

“Ah Ci…”

Shen Ci waved his hand. His face had turned an eerie flushed red. He lifted his eyelids to look at Ye Qi; the corners of his reddened eyes looked like crushed rouge—stunningly beautiful.

“It’s… it’s nothing…”

After speaking, he picked up the bottle again, preparing to pour down the remaining half.

Pei Ye’s gaze fell on those eyes, which were brimming with fine shards of watery light due to the alcohol. For a rare moment, his heart softened. He suddenly stood up and, with a cold face, snatched the remaining half-bottle from his hand.

Shen Ci’s brain was a bit slow. He looked at Pei Ye.

“I’m in a good mood today; I’ll let you off.” He looked at Shen Ci’s face with a heavy gaze. “If there’s a next time, it won’t be this simple.”

“Thank you, President Pei.” The alcohol content was too high; Shen Ci was already feeling dizzy. But he still tried his best to maintain basic clarity.

After thanking Pei Ye, Ye Qi supported Shen Ci as they left Zunyan. Almost his entire body was leaning on Ye Qi. From Pei Ye’s angle, it looked as if Ye Qi was holding Shen Ci entirely in his arms.

He ground his teeth; this scene was inexplicably an eyesore.

Once their figures disappeared from view, Pei Ye retracted his gaze. His eyes fell on the bottle Shen Ci had half-finished. After two seconds, he picked up the bottle and tilted his head back for a sip.

The manager beside him looked as if he were seeing something impossible, his pupils dilating. Everyone knew Pei Ye was a germaphobe. How could he drink wine left by someone else?

This was truly terrifying.

Pei Ye seemed to sense the manager’s gaze and spoke coldly.

“If you don’t want your eyes, donate them.”

Manager: “…”
