Chapter 31: The Cannon Fodder in a Dogblood Novel (31)
Shen Tangqing followed them into the private room.
The interior decoration was far more luxurious than he had imagined.
Crystal chandeliers refracted warm yellow light, casting fragmented, dappled spots on the dark brown leather sofas.
Red wine and whiskey were lined up on the coffee table.
The air drifted with the faint aroma of alcohol and an extremely subtle floral scent.
He sat on the sofa, hands resting dutifully on his knees, trying his best to minimize his presence.
Unfortunately, he didn’t know that with a face like his, it was hard for anyone to ignore his existence.
Especially since all three men harbored unspeakable intentions toward him.
Wen Ci elegantly opened a bottle.
The amber-hued liquid was slowly poured into a goblet.
Wen Ci handed the poured wine to Shen Tangqing with deliberate familiarity.
“Little Brother Shen, have a taste. This wine is just right.”
After speaking, Wen Ci sat down next to Shen Tangqing. The sofa dipped slightly under his weight.
The scent of his cologne instantly wafted over, carrying a hint of aggression.
Shen Tangqing frowned slightly. He took the wine and lowered his head for a shallow taste.
The liquid spread across the tip of his tongue, carrying a faint fruity fragrance, but he had no mind to savor it. His head was full of thoughts on how to make an early escape.
“How is it?” Wen Ci smiled at him with a face full of gentleness, his voice deliberately softened.
“Uh… it’s good…”
Lu Yanli sat on the sofa opposite them. His gaze fell on Wen Ci’s body pressing close to Shen Tangqing, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
He suddenly spoke up, “It’s no fun for Little Brother Shen to drink alone. Let’s have a drink together!”
Fu Sizhao, who had originally held the expression of a spectator watching a show, restrained himself for a moment. His gaze landed on Lu Yanli, eyes narrowing slightly with a hint of inquiry.
However, Lu Yanli’s expression was very calm and composed. Even the inflection of his tone hadn’t changed.
Fu Sizhao stared for a few seconds before slowly withdrawing his gaze. His finger tapped against the wall of his glass, his tone laced with a bit of playfulness.
“Brother Lu is right. We should all have a drink together.”
Shen Tangqing suddenly looked at Lu Yanli. “I still don’t know Brother Lu’s name…”
The phrase “Brother Lu” made Lu Yanli’s heart skip a beat.
Countless people called him Brother Lu.
But none sounded as pleasing as when it came from Shen Tangqing’s mouthโ
Like a feather scratching his heart, a little itchy.
His Adam’s apple rolled for a moment before he answered, “Lu Yanli.”
Shen Tangqing quickly ran through the original book’s characters in his mind.
Very good.
This big brother isn’t one of Xiao Yu’s “harem.” Visually, he appears to be a straight man.
Shen Tangqing’s gaze lingered on Lu Yanli, which made Wen Ci, sitting to the side, somewhat unhappy.
He glanced at Shen Tangqing’s profile out of the corner of his eye, fingers tapping lightly on his knee.
Although he didn’t want to admit it, he had to acknowledge that Lu Yanli was more outstanding and excellent than himself.
If Lu Yanli took a fancy to Shen Tangqing and fought him for him…
He might not necessarily be able to win against him.
That would be the worst-case scenario.
He coughed lightly to break the silence.
Smiling, he reached out, his fingertips patting the back of Shen Tangqing’s hand lightly.
“Little Brother Shen, why haven’t you accepted my WeChat friend request?”
Shen Tangqing felt his whole body stiffen and couldn’t help shrinking his hand back.
Fortunately, Wen Ci didn’t push his luck further; he withdrew his hand after just two taps.
Shen Tangqing took a few seconds to recover before pulling out a perfunctory smile.
“Is that so? I didn’t notice.” In fact, Shen Tangqing had certainly seen it, but he didn’t want to add him.
Although Wen Ci acted harmless, Shen Tangqing always felt Wen Ci was a bit pretentious and not a good person.
He even secretly suspected whether Wen Ci already had unspeakable feelings for Xiao Yu, knew he had bullied Xiao Yu, and wanted to “avenge” Xiao Yu by secretly dealing with him!
“Is that right…” Wen Ci looked at Shen Tangqing with smiling peach-blossom eyes. “Then it was my oversight. I’ll add you now!”
Wen Ci took out his phone and deftly opened his QR code.
Shen Tangqing: “…”
He couldn’t help twitching the corner of his mouth. He really had no moves left.
Taking out his phone, he unwillingly added Wen Ci on WeChat, thinking he would set him to “Do Not Disturb” as soon as he got back!
After the request was accepted, Wen Ci put away his phone, the smile on his face deepening. “Little Brother Shen, I’ll ask you out for a drink when I’m free!”
“Oh! We’ll see if there’s time… schoolwork has been a bit busy lately,” Shen Tangqing said perfunctorily.
Wen Ci didn’t mind. Shen Tangqing couldn’t run away tonight anyway… and of course, he would “compensate” him well.
Thinking of this, Wen Ci’s mood improved even more.
He smiled and nudged his wine glass closer to Shen Tangqing’s. “Rare to drink with Little Brother Shen. Come, I’ll propose a toast to Little Brother Shen alone.”
After speaking, Wen Ci poured another half glass of wine into the glass in front of Shen Tangqing.
Red wine has a delayed kick. Drinking cup after cup like this, Shen Tangqing felt he might not be able to leave this place sober tonight.
He cursed Wen Ci thoroughly in his heart. This guy definitely wants to prank me.
“Brother Wen, I can’t drink a whole glass. My alcohol tolerance isn’t very good…”
Just as his voice fell, Fu Sizhao leaned forward, elbows propped on his knees, staring at Shen Tangqing’s face with a smile.
“Little Brother Shen has poor tolerance? I remember it seemed pretty good… or is it that us few people make you uncomfortable? You don’t want to drink with us?”
This question was asked bluntly.
Shen Tangqing felt speechless and awkward.
Just as he was considering what excuse to use to wiggle out of it, his phone suddenly rang.
As if grabbing a life-saving straw, he immediately stood up from the sofa. “Sorry, I’m going outside to take a call.”
Before Wen Ci and Fu Sizhao could react, he almost fled toward the private room door.
Just as his fingers touched the door handle, Wen Ci’s voice chased after him. “Little Brother Shen, you can take the call here too!”
Shen Tangqing’s steps paused. He smiled awkwardly. “It’s a private matter, inconvenient… I’ll come back after I take it.”
After Shen Tangqing left the private room, Fu Sizhao suddenly laughed out loud.
He leaned back into the sofa, waving his hand at Wen Ci, his tone carrying a bit of teasing.
“You scared the little rabbit.”
Wen Ci withdrew his gaze and curled his lips.
“I didn’t do anything, I didn’t even touch his hand. It’s the little rabbit being too alert; he’s guarding against us!”
After speaking, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly, his eyes revealing a hint of obsession.
“Really cute!”
He paused, his expression seeming to savor something, and his voice lowered a bit, carrying a hidden excitement.
“Ah Zhao, he smells so good! Sitting next to him just now, there was always a faint scent hooking me… hooking me so hard…”
The smile on Fu Sizhao’s lips faded for a moment. His hand unconsciously rubbed the armrest of the sofa, and a trace of gloom flashed past his eyes.
A few seconds later, he spoke slowly, his tone indistinguishable.
“Is that so? What you’re saying makes me want to smell it too.”
Wen Ci didn’t reply. He fished a white pill out of his inner pocket.
Just as he was preparing to drop it into Shen Tangqing’s wine glass, Lu Yanli, who had barely spoken all night, suddenly spoke up.
“Wen Ci, there’s no need to drug him.”
Wen Ci’s movements froze. He looked up at Lu Yanli.
Lu Yanli lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes casting a shadow beneath them.
For a moment, his expression was unclear.
“Brother Lu, what do you mean? Want to protect him?” Wen Ci’s voice lost its usual playful demeanor, adding a few degrees of coldness.
“I just feel that for some things, it’s better to be consensual,” Lu Yanli raised his eyes, looking calmly at Wen Ci, his tone without a single ripple.
Wen Ci seemed to hear something funny, and a sneer spilled from the corner of his lips.
“The word ‘consensual’ coming from Brother Lu’s mouth is rare. Brother Lu… your subordinates have done plenty of ‘unwilling’ things, right? Why ignore them and instead police me?”
He finished speaking and leaned forward, his eyes holding a hint of scrutiny and wariness.
“Or perhaps, Brother Lu has taken a fancy to him too?”
Lu Yanli’s fingertips, hanging by his side, stiffened slightly. After a few seconds, he slowly shook his head. “No.”
Wen Ci’s expression relaxed only then. He scoffed.
“Then don’t stop me. This little rabbit is very clever. Without this drug tonight, he’d run away! Brother Lu… I haven’t ‘popped my cherry’ yet. For him, I crammed adult films for two days.”
Although Wen Ci looked like a playboy, he really hadn’t dated anyone. Seemingly wild and uninhibited, he was actually quite a pure-hearted person.
So much so that when he decided to take down Shen Tangqing, he specifically studied techniques for two days.
Of course, for a high-and-mighty young master like him, it was impossible to lower himself to chase someone. In his view, sleep first, talk later.
Once he’s eaten into the mouth, he’s his.
Besides, it was his first time too; Shen Tangqing wouldn’t be losing out.
After speaking, his fingers loosened, and the white pill fell into Shen Tangqing’s glass.
