Chapter 13: I Feel Like You’re Sending Me to My Death
It was because previously, most of the things he wanted were bought for him directly by Chi Yuheng. Chi Yuheng would also give him pocket money, but never anything as exaggerated as giving him a black card to swipe at will.
No limit meant he was very trusted. After all, if Ye Ran really kept swiping, even the wealthy Chi family would be squandered away by him.
Although Ye Ran knew that the money for the car today was nothing to Chi Yuheng, for other families with financial strength, that amount would be enough to make them feel the sting.
Chi Yuheng’s answer was simple. “Because tomorrow is our Yezi’s twenty-first birthday. I like to give birthday gifts in advance.”
Every year on Ye Ran’s birthday, Chi Yuheng would give him a gift a day early. On the actual birthday, he would receive gifts from others and have a big meal, so he could be happy for two days.
Even so, Ye Ran still felt the gift was a bit too big. Just as he was about to say something more, Chi Yuheng spoke first. “That’s my salary card. You can ‘pinch’ me (control me) from now on.”
Ye Ran was born with a rebellious streak. When he was young and was punished with a palm-smacking for causing trouble, he had stared at Chi Yuheng with a face full of defiance. “Just you wait. Sooner or later, I’m going to pinch you to death.”
Who would have thought that his great wish would actually come true on his twenty-first birthday.

Ye Ran was so happy he was nearly bubbling.

Chi Yuheng used to call Ye Ran by his childhood name often when they were small. Once he got a bit older, Ye Ran stopped letting him, saying he couldn’t be called by a childhood name after growing up because it made him seem like a kid.
With a mischievous smile in his eyes, Chi Yuheng mimicked Ye Ran’s usual tone when admitting a mistake. “I didn’t mean to. It’s just that I got used to calling you that back when you were small and wet the bed and I had to change your pants, or when you went out to race with dogs and ended up rolling yourself into a ‘black coal ball’ and I had to bathe you, and also…”
Ye Ran’s face looked like a bucket of mulled wine had been splashed on it, turning red from the tips of his ears all the way down to his neck.
He suddenly leaned toward the side, his hands waving wildly in the air, desperate to cover Chi Yuheng’s mouth. However, with seatbelts buckled on both sides, the more anxious he was, the less his hands could reach.

When a person is embarrassed, they often need to find something to do. Ye Ran still remembered promising to take Chi Yuheng out for a drive. Just as he was about to start the car, his hand stopped in mid-air.
“Where was the start button again?” Ye Ran’s eyes scanned all over the center console. The start button on the new car wasn’t in the same place as his previous ones.
After finally finding the start button, Ye Ran was looking for the gear shift knob. Once he had confirmed everything one by one, he looked ahead.
“Accelerator on the left, brake on the right. Right, let’s go.”
Chi Yuheng nearly jumped out of the car in advance upon hearing that. “We don’t have to go for this drive after all.”
Ye Ran: “Don’t talk, you’re messing up my train of thought.”
Chi Yuheng: “I feel like you’re sending me to my death (a ‘dead-end road’).”
Ye Ran: “…”
You mention my embarrassing stories, and you won’t even let me scare you a bit.
Ye Ran raised an eyebrow. “Departure.”
Chi Yuheng gave a final reminder. “The accelerator is on the right.”
Ye Ran: “I know.”

After going around for a lap, Ye Ran felt refreshed.
“Where to next?” he asked excitedly.
Chi Yuheng gave him two words: “The supermarket.”
The McLaren stopped in front of a chain supermarket in Jing City, causing many people to stop and watch, all wanting to see what kind of person was driving such a top-tier sports car.
Chi Yuheng got out of the car.
Some girls happened to be passing by and seeing Chi Yuheng, they whispered excitedly, “Wow, it’s a handsome guy.”
When Ye Ran got out from the other side, the voices became even more excited. “Ahhh!!! Two handsome guys!”
Ye Ran didn’t understand why those girls would be so excited about two guys walking together.
At the supermarket, Chi Yuheng instinctively went to push the cart, and Ye Ran followed beside him.
When they reached the snack and beverage area, Ye Ran was like a scavenger, grabbing things and tossing them inside. “Spicy, extra spicy, BBQ flavor, and let’s get… coriander flavor.”
He looked again. “Coriander flavor, what a strange taste.”
Ye Ran didn’t care and just tossed it in.
As Ye Ran tossed them in, Chi Yuheng was in the back putting them back.
By the time Ye Ran thought it was about enough and looked back, there were only a few scattered snacks in the cart, not even a third of what he had taken.
The suspect who took his snacks certainly didn’t need to be named; it was Chi Yuheng, who was looking at him with an innocent face.
“Chi. Yu. Heng!” Ye Ran gritted his teeth. “Why did you put my snacks back?!”
“Are you sure you’ll still eat your meals properly after eating these?”
Ye Ran thought, Probably not.
He often ate snacks as meals, or he would order takeout when Chi Yuheng wasn’t home; in short, he didn’t like eating properly.
To make him eat properly, Chi Yuheng had even confiscated his snacks before, but there was a teammate who dropped the ball—Old Master Chi had secretly bought three big bags for Ye Ran.
This time they came to the supermarket together. Chi Yuheng let him buy snacks, but he absolutely wouldn’t let him take many.
After a standoff of gazes, Ye Ran surrendered. “Ge…”
Every time Ye Ran called him that, it usually meant something was up, and it was never anything good.
Although Chi Yuheng knew his tricks, his heart still uncontrollably softened by half.
With Chi Yuheng’s silent permission, Ye Ran took another 6 bags of snacks and 5 bottles of cola.
Ye Ran also wanted to go to the supermarket’s self-made pastry section to buy some small cakes, but he was stopped by Chi Yuheng. Chi Yuheng told him that the food safety storm for this supermarket hadn’t passed yet; snacks weren’t self-made products, so he could take them without worry.
Speaking of this, Ye Ran suddenly remembered that it seemed Qin Cheng’s family supermarket was also being investigated for food safety.
And this one seemed to be a chain supermarket too; it couldn’t be such a coincidence, could it?

Ye Ran spoke with a questioning tone, “Are you simply here to visit the supermarket?”
