Chapter 3: Strategy Progress 0.1%
Although he had chosen “Tool Man” by mistake, Feng Shi could actually accept it.
He wasn’t that interested in the life of a “Dragon Aotian” to begin with. While it seemed like the optimal choice, he was a simple man who liked a more ordinary life. If he really climbed to the peak but was all alone, he felt it would be meaningless.
Besides, Shen Songhe had already lived miserably enough. Being a tool man to help Shen Songhe escape his original fate didn’t seem too bad.
The new customer service agent came online quickly. It was a small figure that looked exactly like the previous Lanlan, only different in color.
Feng Shi was speechless again. “I say, your personalization isn’t very good. Can I change skins?”
【Hello, I am your exclusive Customer Service, ID: 604. Host, you can call me Qingqing~】
【Lanlan and Qingqing are both mass-produced. Skins can be redeemed with points after the Host’s level increases~】
Feng Shi waved his hand. “Then explain the rules.”
Qingqing took out its stick and poked the panel.
The translucent blue panel rippled, and Feng Shi’s face appeared on it. It displayed his personal information. Next to it were icons for check-in, the mall, etc., and in the center was a spinning wheel.
【Host Newbie Test: “Create a 50% survival chance for your character” has been completed. Bound to <Life Winner: I am a Tool Man>.】
【Main Life Mission: Save the protagonist Shen Songhe, change his “doormat” destiny, repair his Golden Core, and help him regain his youthful glory. (Note: If there is a need to go OOC (Out of Character), points can be used to redeem privileges. After going OOC, negative emotions from other characters will no longer affect favorability.)】
【Now releasing Side Missions and the Newbie Gift Pack for you: Side Mission 1: Escape the current predicament and survive.】
【The Newbie Gift Pack has been credited to your account. Please check it yourself, Host~】
As soon as Qingqing finished speaking, a small red dot popped up in the message bar under Feng Shi’s avatar.
Feng Shi clicked it, and the main page immediately popped up with two options:
【Reward Content: A: Obtain the antidote for Spring Breeze Powder to detoxify Shen Songhe. B: Eliminate your own demonic art backlash.】
Learning from past mistakes, Feng Shi didn’t open his mouth to ask this time.
He had already explained to others that he was pitted by the Demon Lord, so eliminating the demonic art backlash might not be a good option right now.
So, Feng Shi decisively clicked A.
Almost the instant he clicked, a white jade bottle landed by his feet.
【Congratulations Host on obtaining the Spring Breeze Powder antidote. Additionally, the Host has one free lucky draw opportunity every day. Points can be collected by checking in. For other points, please obtain them by winning character favorability, completing side missions, or triggering hidden plots, etc.~】
Feng Shi nodded, feeling that this System wasn’t entirely useless.
He first checked in and claimed 10 points, then clicked the spinning wheel full of anticipation.
The result came out quickly.
【Haha, thank you for participating. It seems the Host’s luck today isn’t very good~】 Qingqing covered its mouth and laughed in a human-like manner.
Feng Shi: …
Sure enough, the tricks of capital are all the same!
Feng Shi pinched the medicine and closed the panel.
He had to seize the initiative. He couldn’t just wait to be sanctioned; he had to strike first!
When the panel disappeared, the wind outside the window instantly returned to his ears, and the vanished pain surged back all at once. Feng Shi’s face twitched in pain; he fell to his knees, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
He recovered for a while, feeling he could move a little, and dragged himself to the table on the right.
Shen Songhe’s sword, named Yanluo, had already developed a trace of a sword spirit. Sensing its master was in danger just now, it had been trying to break free from the forbidden spell on it.
Waves of spiritual power rippled out from the sword’s location, hitting his face like gusts of strong wind.
Feng Shi reached out and pinched the talisman stuck on the sword’s blade.
The blade immediately shook violently, seemingly very dissatisfied with him.
Feng Shi said calmly, “Take me to find your master.”
“I have the antidote that can save Master. You’d better agree.”
Feng Shi’s current state wasn’t enough for him to fly on a sword to find someone himself.
In the original work, Yanluo was set up as a mischievous child who didn’t know limits, which was why Shen Songhe usually kept him sealed, but he was indeed loyal.
Sure enough, upon hearing Feng Shi say he had the antidote, Yanluo quieted down, seemingly thinking.
Feng Shi shook the medicine in his hand, then put it into his Qiankun bag (storage bag) and tore off the talisman paper on Yanluo.
Freed, Yanluo flashed like a bolt of lightning.
Feng Shi only felt a stinging pain on his neck, and then a long, shallow cut opened on his skin.
“Hiss…” Feng Shi frowned, touching a hand full of blood, and cursed silently: What a dog pup.
Although Yanluo hated him, it ultimately cared about Shen Songhe and obediently flew to his feet. Feng Shi collapsed weakly onto the enlarged sword blade.
Yanluo immediately carried him and flew out the window.
Yanluo had a contract with Shen Songhe, so finding him was easy.
Along the way, Feng Shi saw several towering peaks below, connected by long bridges with disciples of the Chongshan Sect walking on them.
The peak Feng Shi had just come out of, however, was unremarkable and had no long bridges connecting it to other peaks. The most conspicuous thing was probably the towering ancient tree growing by the cliff.
Yanluo flew faster and faster; Feng Shi’s eyes were blown almost shut by the wind.
Squinting, he suddenly saw several fluctuations of spiritual energy in the valley not far away.
“Are we there?”
Yanluo vibrated with a hum.
Feng Shi gathered his strength and jumped off Yanluo. Because his landing was unsteady, he rolled twice on the ground, then climbed up, face covered in dirt, and stumbled toward the source of the spiritual fluctuations.
“Master! Senior Brother! …Sect, Leader…”
Seeing the tall man holding a long sword directly in front, Feng Shi paused, his expression stiff for a moment, but he reacted quickly and continued: “Sect Leader Uncle, Master, I—I have the antidote here…”
Shen Songhe was breathing rapidly, currently leaning against Sect Leader Qiu Changzhou’s chest with a flushed face.
Clearly, Xiao Yuhui’s medicine was useless for him.
Feng Shi hurriedly took the antidote out of his Qiankun bag. Before he could hand it over, his collar was grabbed violently, and a pair of large hands instantly stole most of his breath.
“It was you, brat, who drugged Junior Brother?!!”
Accompanied by a roar of rage, Feng Shi was forcibly lifted up by Qiu Changzhou.
Sect Leader Qiu Changzhou doted on his junior brother the most and wouldn’t tolerate anyone hurting him. Feng Shi understood that in his rage, the man might actually choke him to death.
“Sect Leader… have mercy!”
Feng Shi looked pained on the surface, but deep down, he wasn’t really anxious.
【Ding dong, System has detected a new character~ Unlock New Character: Name: Qiu Changzhou Identity: Chongshan Sect Leader Level: Nascent Soul Peak Current Favorability: -100 Expand for more info…】
Qingqing looked serious: 【Please seriously strategize for the main characters, Host. The lower limit for main character favorability is -200. Exceeding it will deduct double points~】
Feng Shi couldn’t help but curse.
At the same time, the large hand on his neck tightened. Feng Shi’s feet dangled in the air; his face turned purple from choking, and his vision slowly darkened.
Seeing this, Xiao Yuhui immediately knelt on the ground to plead: “Please show mercy, Sect Leader! Junior Brother has justifiable reasons for being like this!”
【Name: Xiao Yuhui (Main Character) Current Favorability: 5 Strategy Progress: 0.1%】
Qiu Changzhou had long been blinded by anger. The strength in his hand didn’t decrease but increased, his eyes splitting with rage.
Just when Feng Shi thought his gamble was wrong and he was about to croak right there, Shen Songhe, who had been like an outsider, finally spoke.
The beauty’s voice was naturally pleasant to hear, only it held no warmth.
He said, “Let him go, Senior Brother.”
