After Giving Up, My Rich Ex-Husband Begged Me to Return Chapter 4

Chapter 4: It’s Still Early

Huo Qingyan’s barely softened expression reverted to its previous coldness just because he mentioned Lin Siyue’s name.

Just mentioning Lin Siyue’s name in front of him made him so angry.

Did he treasure Lin Siyue that much?

A stone seemed to press down on Jiang Su’s heart, heavy and making it difficult to breathe.

He looked away, took a deep breath, and then spoke softly, “As your partner, can’t I even ask about you drinking with another man late at night?”

Huo Qingyan was startled. How did Jiang Su know he had been drinking with Lin Siyue last night?

He narrowed his eyes slightly, “Were you following me?”

Jiang Su looked at Huo Qingyan in disbelief, “Do you think I’m that kind of person?”

Huo Qingyan sneered, “You’ve done this before!”

Jiang Su’s face changed drastically, and the words on his lips were swallowed back.

When they first got married, he often wouldn’t see Huo Qingyan for ten days or half a month. At that time, he had just quit the entertainment industry and had nothing to do at home, and he missed Huo Qingyan so much that he secretly went to find him.

Huo Qingyan was furious when he found out and forbade Jiang Su from following him or asking about his affairs, and arranged a job for him at the school.

Jiang Su suddenly felt tired, “I’m going to rest.”

Huo Qingyan’s brows furrowed even deeper. Jiang Su was always clingy and talkative, chattering endlessly when they were together, and now he was going to leave him to rest.

A strange feeling of irritation arose in his heart. He wanted to call out to Jiang Su when the phone on the table vibrated.

He glanced at the screen and found it was a call from his personal assistant, Zhou Fu.

Zhou Fu had been with him for five years, always reliable and never making mistakes. A call so early in the morning must be about something important.

Huo Qingyan answered the phone, “What is it?”

Zhou Fu’s tone was businesslike, “Mr. Huo, the media took pictures of you drinking with Mr. Lin last night, and I’ve had the news removed.”

Hearing this, Huo Qingyan turned his head towards the upstairs.

Had he misunderstood Jiang Su?

Jiang Su hadn’t actually been following him; he’d only seen the news report about him and Lin Siyue drinking.

But why didn’t Jiang Su explain?

Zhou Fu on the other end was waiting for Huo Qingyan’s reply, but Huo Qingyan remained silent, making him uneasy.

Huo Qingyan’s marriage to Jiang Su hadn’t been publicly announced; Zhou Fu was one of the few who knew they were married.

Zhou Fu knew Huo Qingyan was cold to Jiang Su and also knew that Huo Qingyan was close to Lin Siyue. The emotional issues between the three of them weren’t something Zhou Fu should interfere with, but it wasn’t a good thing for the president of the Huo Group to be in the news because of a scandal, so he handled it on his own.

But now Huo Qingyan was silent, could it be that he really liked Lin Siyue, so he was unhappy that he handled the news?

Zhou Fu’s heart was in his throat when he heard Huo Qingyan say, “Anything else?”

Zhou Fu breathed a sigh of relief, “No.”

Huo Qingyan hung up the phone and went upstairs to the bedroom.

The bedroom was quiet, the curtains drawn tight, blocking out the light.

The person on the bed was breathing evenly, fast asleep.

Huo Qingyan stood at the bedside for a moment before preparing to leave. Just as he turned, he heard a sound behind him.

With a soft “click,” the room brightened.

Huo Qingyan turned around and saw the man who had been sound asleep sitting up in bed, his pajama collar slightly open, revealing his beautiful collarbone. He looked half-asleep, appearing even purer and gentler under the warm light of the bedside lamp.

Jiang Su used to be a star, with excellent looks and physique; even Huo Qingyan thought so.

Even after two years of living together, Huo Qingyan couldn’t help but feel a tightness in his throat and his eyes deepened at the sight of Jiang Su.

Huo Qingyan’s gaze was too direct. Jiang Su’s ears turned red under his gaze, and he didn’t dare look directly into his eyes, “Why haven’t you gone to the company yet?”

Normally, Huo Qingyan would go to the company immediately after breakfast.

“It’s still early.” Huo Qingyan walked towards him, slowly unbuttoning his shirt.

Huo Qingyan’s thoughts were hard to guess, but he was being so obvious now that Jiang Su knew what he wanted.

Jiang Su woke up in the afternoon.

His injured left forearm ached subtly. He turned his head to look and found that the wound had opened.

He stared at the wound for a moment. It was only strange that the wound hadn’t opened.

The room was quiet; he didn’t remember when Huo Qingyan had left.

Jiang Su went to the bathroom to take a shower and prepared to go to the kitchen to make something to eat.

Eating alone was boring, so he was going to make some noodles to get by. Just as he put the noodles in the pot, his phone rang.

“Aunt Zhao.” Aunt Zhao was the servant who took care of his grandmother. She would only call if his grandmother had something.

Aunt Zhao sighed, “Grandma has had a cold for a week and it hasn’t gotten better. It’s even worse this morning. Young Master, come and see Grandma.”

Jiang Su’s heart tightened, “Have you seen a doctor?”

Aunt Zhao: “We’ve seen a doctor, and she’s taken medicine. If Grandma sees you and feels better, maybe her illness will heal faster.”

Jiang Su said, “I’ll be right there.”

Jiang Su couldn’t drive with his injured arm, so he took a taxi to his grandmother’s house.

As soon as he got in the car, Huo Qingyan called.

A low male voice came from the phone, “What are you doing?”

Jiang Su remembered what happened this morning and his ears inevitably reddened, “Grandma’s sick, I’m going to see her.”
