Chapter 13 part 1
The male nurse at the front desk of the school’s veterinary department, who had been dozing off, snapped awake at the call, a sudden chill running down his spine.
What are you talking about? Neutering?
Has it really come to a fight to the death?
Aside from the students who could transform, there were indeed many real stray cats and dogs in the academy.
A long time ago, the veterinary department did perform neutering surgeries. However, after one particularly nasty incident, the academy officially banned the procedure. Now, all strays were sent off-campus for it.
The incident in question involved a student who had brought in a transformed orange cat to be neutered. As the cat lay on the operating table, a powerful will to survive took over, and it forcefully reverted to its human form.
The doctors were met with the sight of a completely naked, chubby boy clutching his privates, screaming and crying, “I don’t want to be neutered! I don’t want to be a eunuch!”
The scene left the head surgeon with severe psychological trauma. It even sparked a campus-wide protest movement known as the “Protect Your Balls Campaign.”
“Sorry, the academy’s veterinary department does not offer that service.” The nurse decisively hung up and immediately marked Yan He’s phone number in red in the hospital’s system.
Yan He was a little baffled. Neutering shouldn’t be a difficult procedure for a veterinary hospital.
He looked down at Bai Yuzhou. The fluffy arctic wolf’s eyes were sparkling as it stared back at him, its bright red tongue hanging out. “Woof!”
Why is he so excited? It didn’t seem like he understood. What man would be happy about getting neutered?
Yan He grew more confused, a flicker of doubt in his eyes. “Are you really just a dog?”
Was his imagination just running too wild? After all, he hadn’t actually seen Bai Yuzhou transform into a beast with his own eyes.
After a moment of thought, Yan He reached out to pat Bai Yuzhou’s head. “Alright, you wait here. I’ll go to the pet store and buy some dog food and a leash. Then I’ll take you to find your owner.”
As Yan He left the dorm, the massive arctic wolf collapsed onto the floor. Bai Yuzhou stared at the door with a complicated expression.
He felt like he was going insane. He found himself craving Yan He’s touch.
Before he entered Bestia Academy, the admissions officer had told him that the Beast God created all the beasts. As their creator, they were to listen, obey, and follow. The Beast God was their one and only faith.
But Yan He seemed to possess a natural allure. Bai Yuzhou felt like he was kneeling at the feet of his own personal god, a new faith.
He lifted a paw, parting the thick fur that protected him from the arctic cold. His paw pad touched the skin beneath, and he shuddered.
The deep gash on his neck from the African hyena’s bite had already scabbed over.
Right after Yan He had petted him.
Holding the freshman handbook map, Yan He took the two-yuan campus bus to the shopping district.
The campus shopping area was enormous, reminiscent of a city center pedestrian street from his past life. High-end brand stores were everywhere, but there were also large supermarkets and fruit stands in the southeast section for daily necessities.
Yan He found a large pet supermarket on the map. Since it was early in the morning, there weren’t many students inside.
A few of them stared at Yan He as if they recognized him.
“Baby, what do you think of this chew rope? You’re so cute when you’re grinding your teeth.”
Yan He saw a burly student with a silver nameplate cooing at the chihuahua in his arms. Overcome with emotion, he suddenly leaned down and kissed the dog on the mouth.
Wait, where did he just kiss it?
Yan He thought he was seeing things.
The burly student noticed the bronze nameplate on Yan He’s chest, a rank lower than his. He clutched his precious chihuahua and snapped, “What are you looking at!”
“Hello, what can I help you find?” a store clerk walked over, smiling warmly.
Yan He looked away. “I’d like to buy some dog food and a leash. Also, do you have a lost and found for pets? A pure white husky.”
The clerk covered her mouth and giggled. “We have a board for lost pet notices, but there’s a fee. You could also post on the forum.”
Bestia Academy was huge, and many students looking for a relationship would specify the breed they were interested in. The forum was full of “lost pet” notices that were really just personal ads, so you had to be careful to sort out the real ones.
Hearing that posting a notice would cost money, Yan He immediately decided to post it online himself.
The clerk brought over a silver, lace-trimmed collar. “This is on clearance today. If you buy it, you get a matching leash for free. The special price is only 199 yuan.”
Yan He’s mind screamed. What kind of leash costs 199 yuan? You can get one on PDD for a few bucks!
Seeing Yan He’s hesitation, the clerk continued her pitch. “With this silver collar, everyone will know your pet has an owner. And the matching silver leash, besides its main function, is also long enough to easily tie up its limbs when it misbehaves, leaving it completely at your mercy…”
“Wait, wait,” Yan He interrupted. “Is this a legitimate pet store?”
The more she talked, the weirder it got. Was she selling sex toys?
The clerk looked at him as if he were an alien. Who comes here to buy actual pet supplies?
“Do you have any other styles? Something cheaper.”
“This is the cheapest one, even with the discount. The others are more expensive.”
Hearing that, Yan He immediately decided to take it.
The dog food, at least, was priced similarly to his past life. Yan He picked out a small, cheap bag and went to the counter to pay.
Just as the cashier was scanning his items, an furious roar exploded from the entrance. “Yan He—!!”
Yan He turned his head and saw Pan Ze.
Half an hour earlier, Pan Ze had received a WeChat message from Yun Xiao, telling him to bring the F4 breakfast that morning.
Pan Ze had been ecstatic. Yan He, oh, Yan He, you’ve really pissed off Young Master Yun this time. From now on, I’ll be his number one lackey.
He figured his tattling from the night before had worked. Young Master Yun was still bothered that Yan He had skipped his basketball game to have a “private meeting” with He Shao in the chemistry lab, which was why he was the only one asked to run the errand.
Yan He was about to be fired. His broke-ass roommate, Bai Yuzhou, was seriously injured and couldn’t afford the injection, so he had probably already transformed. Meanwhile, he had gotten the shot and only had some minor bleeding. Pan Ze felt a wave of satisfaction.
Just as he was about to head to the cafeteria, his lackey group chat started blowing up.
Pan Ze was an F4 lackey, but he had a group of his own lackeys under him. They all followed his lead, hoping to use him to get closer to the F4.
[Brother Ze, I saw your rival, Yan He, buying sex toys at the pet store!]
[Brother Ze, I heard Yan He say he’s going to use a leash to tie up his partner and have his way with him!]
Pan Ze floored it to the pet supermarket and saw Yan He holding a silver collar that was the perfect size for that lowly arctic wolf!
It was clearly a dog collar, but Yan He was going to use it on an arctic wolf. It had to be a sex toy!
It all clicked for Pan Ze. He finally understood why Bai Yuzhou had refused the injection. It wasn’t because it was expensive; it was a ploy to transform. Pan Ze seethed. He should have held Bai Yuzhou down last night and given him ten anti-transformation shots!
A transformed beast has powerful urges. And they were roommates. What had they done?
Pan Ze could already picture that damn arctic wolf, wearing the silver collar Yan He put on it, being led around by the leash. He could even picture Bai Yuzhou, wearing that collar, rubbing against Yan He and calling him that intimate name—“Master.”
Damn it!
Why does he get to be called that?!
I was the one who was more seriously injured! I should be the one getting comforted! Why did he only buy one for Bai Yuzhou?!
A dog? Bai Yuzhou is an arctic wolf, not a dog. At least my name, African hyena, has ‘dog’ in it! If anyone should be wearing a dog collar, it should be me!
