Chapter 15 part 1
“Shen Shao, the academy has been incredibly lively these past few days while you’ve been gone. Yun Shao hired a new study companion!” Pan Ze reported, sitting in his own townhouse and debriefing his original boss, Shen Xianqing.
Shen Xianqing wasn’t particularly concerned. Yun Xiao was already on the verge of a complete emotional collapse, about to devolve into a totally irrational bird of prey. It was only logical that he’d recruit a new lackey from the outside to amuse himself.
In the days since he’d escaped the academy, he’d looked at the open sky, breathed the outside air, and everything felt so wonderfully alive. A little beast brought in from the outside was always good for a new laugh.
But just like a long holiday weekend coming to an end, his authorized period for off-campus medical treatment was almost over.
Pan Ze stressed, “Yun Shao is so good to this lackey. He’s paying him a fifty-thousand-yuan monthly salary and even reimburses him for running errands and buying things.”
Shen Xianqing raised an eyebrow. “? Are you being sarcastic and implying I don’t pay you?”
Pan Ze immediately cowered, crying foul. “I wouldn’t dare, Shen Shao! That’s not what I meant at all.”
Fuck, Shen Shao really is a stingy bastard! I definitely followed the wrong boss!
After Shen Xianqing hung up, a flicker of genuine surprise crossed his face. That kind of treatment for a lackey was, indeed, a little strange.
Pan Ze hadn’t even had a moment to recover before another call came in. He glanced at the screen and saw it was Yun Xiao—the new boss he was trying so hard to impress.
Yun Xiao’s furious voice, punctuated by the sounds of smashing objects, roared through the receiver. “Pan Ze, Yan He is living under the same roof as that lowly specially-enrolled student! Why didn’t you tell me?”
Pan Ze froze. “You didn’t ask.”
Yun Xiao grew even angrier. “If you didn’t tell me, how would I have known to ask?”
Pan Ze grumbled internally, If you don’t ask, how am I supposed to bring it up?
Yun Xiao kicked a stool, shattering it. Old Shen’s lackeys were completely useless, not charming and likable like Yan He. They were all stupid as hell.
Yun Xiao issued his command: “I don’t want to see that specially-enrolled student in Yan He’s dorm room ever again.”
He dared to flaunt his close relationship with Yan He right in my face? Fine. I’ll make sure that specially-enrolled student can never flaunt anything again!
Pan Ze’s eyes darted, and he immediately agreed.
The driving school instructor took the initiative to call Yan He first thing in the morning. As it happened, there was a last-minute opening to take the Subject One exam today. He asked how his studies were coming along; if he was confident, he could rush over and take the test.
The grand welcome event was tomorrow, and classes would officially begin right after. Worried he’d get too busy, Yan He immediately agreed.
“Sure thing, instructor. I’m on my way.”
Since he had to attend the welcome event tomorrow, Yan He tossed his own uniform jacket into the washing machine. He planned to find time later to take He Ting’s jacket to the dry cleaner.
He hung his freshly washed clothes on the indoor drying rack, grabbed his ID, and hurried out of the dorm.
Yan He had no sooner walked out the door than Pan Ze arrived, a menacing entourage in tow.
The specially-enrolled students on the same floor heard the commotion and peeked their heads out. They were stunned to see the leader, a guy with a red spiky hairdo, wearing a brand-new pale gold nameplate. Even the lackeys trailing him wore silver nameplates at the very least.
If Bestia Academy was a miniature kingdom, the specially-enrolled student dorms were its most impoverished, filthy slums.
It wasn’t unheard of for specially-enrolled students to latch onto rich kids for protection—they might even sleep with them—but those rich kids would never willingly set foot in this place. The very ground here would soil the soles of their noble shoes.
Pan Ze led his massive crew into the dorm room. Hands shoved in his pockets, he looked down his nose at Bai Yuzhou.
“Search the place!”
At Pan Ze’s order, the group of junior lackeys surged forward excitedly. They wrecked Bai Yuzhou’s tidy desk, yanked open his wardrobe, and laughed at him for having almost no casual clothes. They even kicked over his trash can to root through the contents.
The entire dorm was a complete mess—except for one area. A clear line was drawn at the central floor tile, and on the other side, Yan He’s belongings remained untouched on his desk, a stark contrast.
Bai Yuzhou’s expression was horrifying. He threw off a lackey who was trying to climb up and rifle through his bedsheets and demanded coldly, “Enough! What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Pan Ze straddled Yan He’s chair and let out a bizarre laugh. “What are we doing? You messed with Yun Shao, and you think you can just get by peacefully at Bestia? If you know what’s good for you, pack your shit and get out of this dorm!”
The lackeys around him roared with laughter, tossing Bai Yuzhou’s belongings out the door. “Yeah, look how nice we are, even helping you move out!”
Bai Yuzhou’s face grew darker. The moment he’d refused to give up his seat to that F4 member, Yun Xiao—the moment he’d flaunted his closeness with Yan He in front of that golden eagle—he knew this day would come.
How could that high-and-mighty Yun Shao possibly tolerate him living under the same roof as Yan He?
But he… he didn’t want to move out, either.
At Bestia Academy, the students, being beasts, were extremely territorial about their dens. Because of this, switching dorms required a signed consent form.
As long as he refused to sign, Pan Ze couldn’t force him out.
A shifty-eyed lackey leaned in and whispered in Pan Ze’s ear, “Ze Ge, we didn’t find the thing you were talking about.”
Pan Ze’s brow shot up in surprise. They didn’t find it? A specially-enrolled student’s dorm room was tiny. How could they not find it?
A cold laugh suddenly came from Bai Yuzhou. Pan Ze clutched his own abdomen, which still throbbed from the scratch he’d received, and roared, “What the hell are you laughing at?”
Bai Yuzhou sneered, “It seems Senior Pan isn’t entirely loyal to the F4. You’ve got your own little schemes going on, don’t you.”
An unnatural expression flashed across Pan Ze’s face. He flew into a humiliated rage, as if he’d been exposed. “Stop fucking spreading rumors!”
Bai Yuzhou stared directly into Pan Ze’s eyes—a clear challenge in the animal world—and enunciated every word clearly. “The dorm. I’m not moving! That collar is mine. Don’t even think about it!”
It was true that the F4’s Yun Xiao had ordered Pan Ze to “invite” him to move out. But it was also true that this sinister spotted hyena had his own agenda: to steal back that dog collar.
Pan Ze was furious. Why did this lowly, specially-enrolled student get to possess something so personal of Yan He’s? Just because they were roommates? Because he had the home-field advantage?
Had Bai Yuzhou ever helped Yan He? No! He just dragged him down, right? And this piece of trash gets a gift?
He and Yan He were colleagues! He had been Yan He’s free chauffeur so many times, and had Yan He ever really thanked him?
Other than empty words, had he given him a single, actual gift?
No!
The more Pan Ze stewed, the angrier he became. His eyes darted wildly around the tiny room, suddenly freezing on the clothes drying on the balcony.
It was a pair of light-gray men’s briefs with lettering on the waistband, looking like they had just been washed after a shower.
This was even more private than the collar.
So that’s the size Yan He wears, huh? A sudden thought struck Pan Ze, and a bizarre flush crept over his cheeks.
Pan Ze took one step toward the balcony. Bai Yuzhou snatched the clothes-drying pole and swung it straight at him. “Pervert!”
Pan Ze was a fierce beast, after all, and his reflexes weren’t bad. He dodged sharply, roaring, “Bai Yuzhou, you’re fucking asking to die!”
“You’re calling me a pervert? Hahaha! I don’t believe you haven’t snuck a peek!”
Bai Yuzhou gripped the pole tightly, momentarily at a loss for words.
