All the Furries in the Academy Want to Pet Me chapter 5.2

Part 2

Bestia Academy was dangerous everywhere, especially at night, with countless unknown beasts lurking silently in the bushes. An electric scooter offered no protection at all. Yan He must have faced many dangers on his way here, right? Yet he never complained. He was a decent lackey, at least.

The more Yun Xiao thought about it, the more pleased he felt. No wonder Old Shen liked having underlings. He was going to have an obedient one too!

After a long silence, Yun Xiao turned his head and met Yan He’s wide, staring eyes.

Is it too little?

On second thought, Yun Xiao agreed. Fifty thousand a month to be stuck in this hellhole? He wouldn’t do it for fifty million!

Yan He immediately said, “Young Master Yun is so generous! I, Yan He, am your most loyal dog. If you tell me to go east, I’ll never go west. If you tell me to beat a dog, I’ll never kill a chicken!”

His cheap dad had mentioned a salary before, but Yan He hadn’t taken it seriously. Who ever heard of getting paid to be a dog for the noble F4? But it was actually happening.

In his past life, as a 996 corporate slave, he had worked overtime every day and never made fifty thousand a month.

What’s so bad about being the F4’s running dog? He was an expert at it.

Yan He saw the fifty thousand transfer pop up in his WeChat chat with Yun Xiao. The sight of those four beautiful zeros filled him with extraordinary joy. His female colleagues had called Yun Xiao a hothead who smashed things at the drop of a hat, like he had manic depression. Yan He felt a pang of indignation. That was absolute nonsense. How could they know if their Young Master Yun was a hothead or not? Besides, so what if he kept a tiger to show off his style? Why couldn’t he?

Yun Xiao’s nose twitched. His keen sense of smell detected the scents of many people on Yan He, especially the overpowering, hard-to-erase scent of the Siberian tiger.

It felt like his property had been coveted by someone else. Yun Xiao stared at Yan He, whose eyes were filled with nothing but a pure love for money, and an unprecedented thought emerged in his mindโ€”he wanted to carry Yan He back to his nest on the cliff.

The pitiful little prey would be able to only beg him, to cling to him, for a chance to leave the towering cliff face.

A vein suddenly throbbed on Yun Xiao’s neck. This strange, burgeoning possessiveness excited him. Was his beastly nature growing stronger?

“Stay away from fierce beasts from now on!” Yun Xiao warned.

“Yes, yes, of course,” Yan He nodded repeatedly, not forgetting to flatter him. “And Young Master Yun, I must say, that tiger is truly magnificent, majestic, and domineering…”

A low chuckle, like a tiger’s laugh, drifted over on the wind. Yun Xiao’s face darkened. “Say another word and I’ll dock your pay.”

Yan He: ? Did I just flatter the wrong thing?

He immediately shut his mouth.

The gazes of the king of the sky and the king of the forest met, neither willing to back down.

He Ting lay on the grass, his eyes dark as he stared at the figure’s back. He was brought in by the Yun family. This is not good.

Yan He noticed the tiger’s gaze and his attention shifted from Yun Xiao to the Siberian tiger, completely missing the fleeting displeasure in Yun Xiao’s eyes.

Yan He wasn’t a beast and was naturally insensitive to danger, so he didn’t sense anything amiss. He stared at He Ting, at its incredibly sleek fur. As Yun Xiao’s future lackey, he wondered if, once they got familiar, Young Master Yun would let him ride the big tiger. He could live out his fantasy of being the protagonist of a power-trip novel for a bit.

Of course, he had no idea if the tiger would be willing to let him ride.

Having just received his advance, Yan He was very enthusiastic about his new job. “Young Master Yun, if you need anything, please let me know.”

Yun Xiao couldn’t think of anything for Yan He to do at the moment. He called Pan Ze instead, telling him to come to the F4’s common lounge right now.

Even though Yun Xiao had lost his temper that afternoon and ripped off Pan Ze’s wig, humiliating him in front of the whole academy, the F4 knew that a lackey like Pan Ze wouldn’t dare to be angry. To be precise, Pan Ze was Old Shen’s lackey. But this kind of on-call underling was more or less shared by the F4. If he summoned him, Pan Ze would only feel greatly honored and wouldn’t dare to say a word.

Pan Ze was indeed fast. A little over ten minutes later, he drove his bright orange sports car to the F4 lounge and waited respectfully outside.

Pan Ze’s eyes were fixed eagerly on the lounge gate. Rumors of a supposed rift in the F4 were spreading like wildfire on the forums. Although he was Shen Shao’s lackey, he didn’t really know the inside story.

He had heard that He Shao had hit Shen Shao, and that Shen Shao had even left the academy for medical treatment, which made Pan Ze extremely anxious. But the moment he received Yun Xiao’s call, that anxiety vanished. The fact that Yun Shao was willing to summon him for a task this late at night meant he had made an impression on the F4.

He didn’t know what the task was, but he was determined to complete it perfectly!

A moment later, Pan Ze and one of his own lackeys stared as Yan He emerged from the lounge, pushing an electric scooter.

Him again? Pan Ze’s eyes lit up, his gaze involuntarily following Yan He’s figure.

“Specially-enrolled student, what are you doing in there?”

Yan He handed the scooter to the bewildered lackey and said to an equally bewildered Pan Ze, “It’s late. Young Master Yun asked you to give me a ride.”

Yan He didn’t quite understand Yun Xiao’s logic. He used to work until midnight and go home by himself. But if the new boss was willing to offer perks, he would gladly enjoy them.

Yan He asked the other lackey, “By the way, you know how to ride one of these, right?”

The lackey stared blankly. “…Yes.”

Pan Ze took out his phone and saw a fresh WeChat message from Yun Xiao. He carefully read every word, his eyes darting between his phone and Yan He, and he nearly screamed.

They were both lackeys, so why did Yan He get a special escort back?!

It must be because he’s a specially-enrolled student, a weak herbivore, right?

Yet, the fact that Yan He had also become an F4 lackey, one of his own kind, gave Pan Ze a strange sense of pleasure. Weren’t they supposed to be competitors?

Pan Ze thought about it excitedly. It was probably because he was a hyena. A male hyena’s status rises with the addition of new members. Perhaps his status had risen because of Yan He’s arrival, and that’s why he was happy. That must be it.

Pan Ze stared coldly at the mask that seemed to be welded to Yan He’s face and curled his lip. “Get in.”

Yan He rubbed his nose under the mask. This body was only eighteen and didn’t have a driver’s license. As for a multi-million dollar sports car, it was his first time riding in one in either life, and he didn’t know how to open the door.

Pan Ze muttered “country bumpkin” under his breath and stepped forward to open the door for him.

“Thank you, Senior Pan.”

Yan He’s husky voice was like stirring thick honey, and it inexplicably made Pan Ze’s face flush. He looked at Yan He’s mask warily. Damn it, don’t tell me I’m catching his cold?

Pan Ze kicked the concrete ground hard and got into the driver’s seat.

Sitting in the car, Yan He peeked at the top of Pan Ze’s head… He had a new wig, a spiky red hairdo that looked like a hedgehog, very eye-catching.

Poor rich boy, going bald at such a young age.

“What are you looking at?” Pan Ze warned. “Don’t think that just because you’re Yun Shao’s lackey now, you can forget your lowly status as a specially-enrolled student! First come, first served. I’m always ahead of you! From now on, when the F4 need something done, unless they specify a name, I go first! You’re after me.”

Yan He was puzzled. Why is this Pan Ze so eager to work?

Did Yun Xiao specifically call him over to foster a sense of competition between them?

Yan He immediately asked, “Senior is so proactive. How much do they pay you?”

Pan Ze froze, incredulous. “Pay? You get paid for doing things for the F4?”

The moment the words left his mouth, he saw in the rearview mirror an equally shocked expression on Yan He’s faceโ€”“Is there really an idiot who works for free in this day and age?”โ€”Yan He asked doubtfully, “They don’t pay you?”

Pan Ze gritted his teeth and sneered, “Only a specially-enrolled student would care about a few scraps. The most important thing about following the F4 is getting their protection in the academy.”

Yan He guessed, “They really don’t pay you, do they?”

Pan Ze laughed mockingly. “Specially-enrolled students are so short-sighted. Working for the F4 allows you to build connections and pave the way for your future.”

Yan He said sympathetically, “So they really don’t pay you, huh?”

Pan Ze: …Damn it!!! Can you just stop asking?

Pan Ze slammed on the brakes, his eyes bloodshot. He had completely lost it. He turned to Yan He and shouted, “So how much is Yun Shao paying you?!”

See? You lost your temper again!

Sitting in the passenger seat, Yan He adjusted his mask and smiled faintly. “Shh. Employees are strictly forbidden from discussing their salaries.”
