Chapter 6 PART 1
After Yan He left with Pan Ze, Yun Xiao looked at the Siberian tiger resting with its eyes closed and asked, puzzled, “He Ting, how did you get out of the cage just now?”
He Ting had been brought back from the Discipline Room locked inside a beast cage. The narrow, cramped space was supposed to make a beast feel more secure; they would usually wait until they were completely stable before coming out.
Despite the reek of blood, the tiger’s kingly presence was overwhelming. He Ting lay there without so much as lifting an eyelid.
Yun Xiao knew then that He Ting had no intention of explaining. He didn’t have time to press the issue either. The F4 were friends, but fierce beasts were solitary creatures and needed to keep their distance from one another.
Yun Xiao turned to head back to his private villa. He had only taken a few steps when a tiger’s roar erupted behind him. The sharp instincts of a bird of prey made him whip his head to the side, but he still couldn’t see He Ting’s movement clearly.
The massive, mountain-like tiger suddenly leaped into the beast cage, its paw slamming against the iron bars with a deafening, cold clang.
“He Ting?” Yun Xiao sensed something was wrong.
Among the F4, He Ting was the one who had been sent to the Discipline Room the most. He was also one of the few beasts in the entire academy who had truly tasted blood.
Yun Xiao had heard from Old Shen that the first time He Ting was sent to the Discipline Room was for killing someone. The Hall of Repentance was awash with beast blood, the oil paintings on the walls spattered with it. And yet the Siberian tiger had sat there in the pool of blood, like a harmless, giant Golden Shaded cat, with the holy and merciful statue of the Beast God behind him, leisurely licking the blood from his paws.
Although Yun Xiao was on the verge of a mental breakdown, he had never been to the Discipline Room. He Ting never spoke of what it was like inside, but it couldn’t have been a pleasant place.
In the past, when He Ting returned from the Discipline Room, he had never suddenly gone berserk again!
Yun Xiao hesitated, unsure if he should approach the cage. Just then, he saw He Ting emerge, bare-chested. He had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and well-defined muscles, though his torso was covered in filth. He was wearing only a pair of long black pants.
Yun Xiao’s pupils contracted. “He Ting,” he said in disbelief, “you can control your human form already?”
A trip to the Discipline Room was a near-death experience. No student had ever been able to regain control of their body the same night they returned. Even He Ting had needed a good half a month to recover after his previous visits.
He Ting lowered his long, crow-feather lashes, evidently unsure of the reason himself.
A fleeting image of Yan He’s slender figure flashed through his mind, along with his delicate white waist that looked as if it could be snapped with a single grasp… He Ting’s Adam’s apple bobbed. The scent from the small of Yan He’s back seemed to linger on his lips.
He had licked Yan He. That seemed to be the only variable. And he found himself wanting more.
Such an ordinary little lackey, a snobbish, money-grubbing bootlicker at that, had somehow been able to instantly restore his human rationality. It felt as absurd as the prison-like academy itself. All the high-tech equipment and specialized medicine in the academy couldn’t achieve this, but a single Yan He could?
To make the students feel more secure in their beast forms, their clothes were usually placed inside the cage, which was why He Ting didn’t emerge completely naked.
He Ting picked up his outer jacket and left the common lounge. As he passed Yun Xiao, he tossed out a nonchalant comment, “Congratulations. You’ve picked up an interesting little lackey.”
Yun Xiao: “???”
Huh? What does He Ting mean by that?
Yun Xiao was instantly delighted. Hahaha, is He Ting complimenting my taste in lackeys? That’s right, I never realized before how well-suited Yan He is to be my underling!
He Ting quickly disappeared into the night, unconcerned that the smell of blood on him might attract other beasts. He pulled a vibrating phone from his pocket.
[Old Shen: He Ting, thanks for taking the fall for today’s incident. I’ll be back at the academy as soon as I’m done. Take care of yourself after getting out of the Discipline Room.]
[He Ting: No need.]
The person on the other end was shocked, seemingly not expecting a reply. He tried making a video call. The He Ting on the screen was cold and detached, like a snow-laden pine in the dead of winter, but he was undeniably in his human form.
Old Shen’s face was a mask of astonishment. “Wait, what happened? How did you regain your human form so quickly? Or did something else happen?”
He Ting’s gaze drifted toward the foot of the mountain, in the direction of the specially-enrolled students’ dormitory. A barely perceptible curve formed on his lips. “Perhaps.”
Perhaps he truly is the surprising variable.
Old Shen looked at the row of male models standing before him and, for a fleeting moment, regretted leaving the academy.
It seemed a very interesting new toy had arrived.

Pan Ze was about to die of anger. A moment ago, Yan He had kept pestering him about his salary, but when Pan Ze finally asked him, he claimed it was confidential.
In all the years he had followed Shen Shao, he had never received a salary.
Pan Ze could only console himself. It wasn’t like he was short on money. Why be as short-sighted as Yan He?
Pan Ze didn’t say another word to Yan He for the rest of the ride. He slammed the accelerator, brought the car to a screeching halt in front of the student dormitory, and stared straight ahead. “Yan He, I can’t be your chauffeur every time.”
He was Shen Shao’s lackey, not Yan He’s. What would it look like if he was driving him around all day? His status was higher than the newcomer Yan He’s!
Pan Ze bared his sharp front teeth and offered a meaningful reminder. “If you don’t want to get mauled to death, don’t ride that electric scooter at night.”
Yan He had to agree. Bestia Academy was situated within the Thirteen Peaks, almost completely integrated into the mountain forest. Although the campus was well-planned, who knew if a wild beast might wander in? An electric scooter offered no protection at all.
“Senior Pan,” Yan He asked, “can we learn to drive at the academy? I don’t have a license yet.”
Not only had this body just turned eighteen and not gotten a license, but Yan He hadn’t had one in his previous life either. He hadn’t learned in college, and once he started his 996 corporate life, he had even less time. He had signed up for a driving school in his last life but had only just passed the written exam.
Now that he had a second chance, he might as well get his license while he was still a student. With the fifty thousand yuan advance from Yun Shao and the allowance from his parents, buying a small electric car for commuting shouldn’t be too difficult.
Pan Ze scoffed. “Duh. Besides not being able to leave the campus or see any women, Bestia Academy has everything. Just sign up on ‘Meng Shou.’ You can take the test right here on campus. Now get out!”
Yan He thanked him, unbuckled his seatbelt, and swiftly got out of the car.
Pan Ze squinted as he watched Yan He enter the dormitory. The night wind blew into the convertible, faintly dissipating Yan He’s scent.
Pan Ze cursed, “Useless piece of junk car, not even as good as a Wuling Hongguang!”
He turned and looked at the passenger seat where Yan He had just been sitting. On a strange impulse, Pan Ze reached out a hand. A faint warmth still lingered, as if he were touching his skin.
As if burned, Pan Ze snatched his hand back. With the guilty conscience of a thief, he slammed on the gas and sped away.
Specially-enrolled students are all bad news. That masked one probably has some contagious disease. I need to get this whole car disinfected!
When Yan He returned to the dorm, Bai Yuzhou was sitting at his desk, studying.
