Chapter 12: Adopting the Big Ragdoll
“So that’s it. You’re planning to surprise him, right?” Lin Xia immediately grasped the key point.
“Exactly.”
“That makes it difficult, because the ultimate adopter is the person you like, but I don’t know anything about him.” Lin Xia was most concerned about the adopter himself.
“He’s a good person; don’t worry, he’ll take good care of the cat,” Zhao Yuhao said.
“Could you provide me with some information about him?” Lin Xia adapted his approach.
“Of course.” Zhao Yuhao opened his phone and brought up his lover’s personnel file. Of course, some private information was carefully pixelated.
“I agree.” Lin Xia looked at the information Zhao Yuhao provided and quickly agreed.
The person Zhao Yuhao liked was a boy with a baby face who smiled very cutely. Most importantly, his eyes were very clear and honest. Zhao Yuhao liked boys, but he didn’t hide his sexual orientation, which increased Lin Xia’s liking for him.
Zhao Yuhao wasn’t surprised by Lin Xia’s decision because he had a lot of confidence in the boy he liked. His boy was so good, how could he not pass the assessment? What truly surprised him was that Lin Xia didn’t show any signs of rejection after learning he was gay.
“Gloves, would you like to live with the boy in the picture?” Lin Xia showed Gloves the photo of the boy on Zhao Yuhao’s phone.
Gloves listened to Lin Xia and curiously looked at the phone. Meow, this human looks alright. Gloves pressed its fluffy paw on the screen.
“Gloves, you agree?” Lin Xia asked again in surprise. So many people had wanted to adopt Gloves before, but he’d refused them all. Now, he agreed without even meeting the person in real life, just from a photo on a phone.
“Meow~” Gloves nodded.
“Mr. Zhao, congratulations. Gloves agrees to be adopted by Mr. Cheng,” Lin Xia said. “Since you want to surprise Mr. Cheng, you’ll complete the week of volunteer work.”
Requiring the adopter to volunteer was partly to observe their character and quality, and partly to teach them how to care for pets. It could be said that Lin Xia went to great lengths to ensure the animals found good homes.
“Thank you very much.” For his lover’s sake, even if Zhao Yuhao was busy, he would come to volunteer. Lin Xia didn’t specify when he should come, leaving it to his schedule. Even so, Zhao Yuhao decided to come whenever he had free time.
After Zhao Yuhao left, Lin Xia went upstairs to check on the little hamster. Afraid of disturbing them, he quietly opened a crack in the door.
Chen Mingzong and the little hamster had their backs to him, so they didn’t notice Lin Xia outside. The little hamster seemed to be drawing something, with Chen Mingzong hugging him from behind and guiding him. At that moment, Chen Mingzong’s body was tense, stiffly pressed against the little hamster.
It seemed the two were getting along quite harmoniously; Lin Xia’s lips curved into a smile. He quietly closed the door and went to the ward to see the little hamster’s kitten.
“Meow~” Seeing Lin Xia, the kitten happily called out to him; its soft, milky voice made Lin Xia’s heart melt.
“Little Meow is a good boy. I’ll take you downstairs to play.” The kitten’s name was Little Meow because when the little hamster asked what the kitten’s name was, the kitten answered with “Meow meow,” so the little hamster named it Little Meow.
Lin Xia brought Little Meow downstairs to play with the other pets.
Two hours later, Chen Mingzong and the little hamster came down as well. After Chen Mingzong recorded the little hamster’s condition and went back to devise a treatment plan, he hurriedly bid farewell to Lin Xia.
“It’s rare to see him so rushed,” In Lin Xia’s impression, Chen Mingzong was always calm, steady, and composed. But this time, he seemed very anxious?
