Chapter 33: The Princess’s First Time
A vicious glint flashed in Jun Mo’s eyes.
“Ahem!”
Li Feng felt slightly uncomfortable under the gazes of the crowd.
But as the Phoenix Empress, she was naturally able to compose herself in an instant.
She cleared her throat and spoke slowly. “Consort Jun was feeling unwell, so the princess was at Junhe Hall taking care of him last night.”
“If there is nothing else, everyone, please eat and drink your fill. Don’t worry about them.”
As for what “taking care of him” meant, everyone present was experienced enough to understand.
Didn’t it just mean that Consort Jun had gone into heat, and Princess Xuanyue couldn’t leave his side as she had to help him through it?
But, “serpents are lustful by nature.” With a heat that could last a month, could the princess handle it?
This question wasn’t just on the minds of the crowd; it was a worry for Li Xuanyue herself.
Last night, she had been tossed and turned, ravaged and devoured by the man.
For a moment there, she thought she was about to meet her ancestors.
Fortunately, after the man finally regained his clarity, he began to treat her with tenderness.
“P-Princess… was this your first time?”
When Jun He asked this, his voice was still husky with the afterglow of their passion.
Li Xuanyue’s body instinctively recoiled, shrinking deeper into the blankets.
She didn’t know how to respond.
It was true she had many consorts, but she had never once let them attend to her in bed.
At most, she had whipped them when her madness acted up.
But something like this… this was a first.
Seeing her silence, a complex look passed through Jun He’s dark eyes.
He had thought this Princess Xuanyue was a promiscuous woman.
In his past life, it was because he had heard so many rumors about her and the consorts in her palace.
That was why he had immediately judged her as impure.
But after this one night, he suddenly realized that Princess Xuanyue wasn’t as depraved as he had imagined.
“Rest assured, Princess. I will be responsible for you.”
This was Jun He’s promise to Li Xuanyue.
It also signified his acknowledgment of their relationship.
Regardless of whether he returned to the Serpent Clan in the future, she would be his wife.
Being held so tightly in his arms, Li Xuanyue was starting to feel breathless.
She reached up and patted his shoulder lightly.
“Could you let me go first?”
As Li Xuanyue spoke, she realized just how hoarse her voice was.
Images of the wanton things she and Consort Jun had done last night suddenly flooded her mind.
Her face instantly turned crimson.
Jun He naturally noticed the dryness in her throat. He got out of bed, poured a cup of warm tea, and brought it to her.
“Drink.”
Li Xuanyue glanced up at him and didn’t refuse.
Her throat was indeed very uncomfortable and needed the tea to soothe it.
“C-Consort Jun, what are you doing?”
After finishing the tea, Li Xuanyue felt like she had come back to life. But as she handed the empty cup back to him, he took her hand and pulled her right off the bed.
She was so startled that a tremor ran through her voice.
Jun He looked at her deeply.
“After experiencing intimacy for the first time, your body must be sore and uncomfortable.”
He hesitated for a few seconds before continuing, “It occurred to me that there is a hot spring on the back mountain. Taking you for a soak should help relieve some of your fatigue.”
He spoke as if he had her best interests at heart.
Li Xuanyue’s face turned beet red.
“That won’t be necessary, Consort Jun.” She rejected his proposal without a second thought. “The back mountain is quite a distance from here. I’d rather just rest.”
If they were seen walking so intimately, the people of the Phoenix Clan might think she actually doted on this consort.
She didn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea.
What happened between them was only due to the urgency of the situation.
She certainly didn’t believe that this one encounter would make Consort Jun truly fall in love with her.
After all, she knew where she stood.
But Jun He paid no mind to her words, simply scooping her into his arms and heading towards the back mountain.
She was mortified.
Although she had been surrounded by consorts her whole life, very few had ever gotten close to her.
And there had certainly never been one like Consort Jun, who ignored her wishes and acted on his own.
Thus, along the way, all she could do was force herself to remain calm and ignore the astonished looks from the servant girls.
But the blush on her cheeks was impossible to hide.
Soon, the news that Jun He had carried Li Xuanyue to the hot springs on the back mountain had spread throughout the entire Phoenix Clan.
Naturally, it also reached the ears of the visiting suitors from the five clans.
“Brother Mian, aren’t you worried at all?”
Inside Twilight Hall, Yu Sheng’s blue fishtail slapped and swayed listlessly in the pool.
He couldn’t understand Yu Mian.
He clearly hadn’t wanted to enter the marriage alliance, yet in the end, he had.
And now that he had made his choice, he wasn’t even trying to win her over.
Did he really think that if he just stayed in Twilight Hall all day, Princess Xuanyue would come and favor him?
“If you ask me, you should stop thinking about it,” Yu Sheng said earnestly. “That Princess Xuanyue seems quite nice.”
“As for… Sister Qingyue, she and Brother Yulin are living quite happily at Dongting Lake now.”
Although Yu Sheng was young and didn’t fully understand the love between men and women, he knew the basics.
Why did Brother Mian have to throw a tantrum over such a small thing and enter this marriage alliance out of spite?
Yu Sheng was taking advantage of his youth. If he were any older, Yu Mian would have thrown him out of the pool without hesitation for the words he had just spoken.
“When did you learn to be a mouthpiece for others?” Yu Mian asked with a sneer.
Yu Sheng blinked, then rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish grin. “How am I being a mouthpiece, Brother Mian? I’m just looking out for you.”
“I know you’re not resigned to it, but what’s done is done. Sister Qingyue and Brother Yulin are already husband and wife. Why do you keep torturing yourself over it?”
“That Princess Xuanyue is really quite nice. The rumors about her are awful, but from her tone and attitude yesterday, I think rumors aren’t always true.”
“Look at that third prince of the Serpent Clan. He’s a prince, and didn’t he already beat you all to the punch and claim the princess?”
“Why don’t you give it a try? You might discover a whole new world.”
Yu Sheng truly hoped he could move on from his past relationship, instead of hiding away and wallowing in self-pity like this.
It would only make him more dispirited.
Yu Mian’s sharp gaze suddenly fell upon Yu Sheng.
“Do you know why I didn’t throw you out of here just now?” he asked, his voice light and airy.
Yu Sheng instantly felt an unprecedented killing intent fill the air. He swallowed hard and instinctively shrank back.
As if he hadn’t seen it, Yu Mian continued:
“If you keep nagging in my ear like you just did, I won’t hesitate to strike you myself.”
