Chapter 76: Can This Subject Request Permission to Go Out and Meet Her?
The smile in Hua Shan’s eyes froze instantly at Li Xuanyue’s question.
The doting look on his face vanished, replaced by stiffness and severity.
“Naturally!”
Hua Shan answered without a shred of guilt or pressure, as if speaking of a trivial matter.
Although Hua Sang had initially refused, he had ultimately chosen to offer his Red Crown. Regardless of the process, Hua Shan cared most about the result. Fortunately, the result did not disappoint him.
He certainly couldn’t tell Li Xuanyue everything, lest it cause unnecessary trouble.

The chill that had pervaded her body due to the poison vanished instantly, replaced by a warm current wrapping around her. It was a long-lost sensation of vitality and life.
Her small movements and changes were naturally observed by Hua Shan.
Indescribable relief and a smile filled his eyes as he watched her pale face gradually regain a healthy flush, aided by the pill. The stone hanging in his heart finally settled.
“How is it, Yue’er? Do you feel much better?”
Just as she opened her eyes and he asked the question, Hua Shan saw Xiao Ce rushing in from outside the hall.
He frowned, clearly displeased by Xiao Ce’s recklessness.
Seeing this, hesitation flashed in Xiao Ce’s eyes. He looked at Li Xuanyue, who had just opened her eyes, then at Hua Shan’s cold, stern face. In the end, he stood aside and did not speak of the matter in front of Li Xuanyue.
However, the anxiety in his eyes did not escape Hua Shan.
Hua Shan frowned. “Yue’er, Father has an urgent matter to attend to. You should go back to Fenghe Hall and rest properly.”
To prevent Li Xuanyue from learning too many secrets, Hua Shan ignored her condition and urged her to leave.
“Once I finish the matter at hand, I will send someone to find you.”
Although Li Xuanyue didn’t know what urgent matter made him rush her away, she had just taken the antidote and indeed needed rest.

“Alright, Father, go attend to your business. I will go back and rest.”

“Princess, Consort Zhong has arrived.”

Li Xuanyue glanced at Yin Xin. “Let him in.”
Since the incident with the Night-Luminescent Pearls, she hadn’t seen them. For Zhong He to come now, could there be an emergency?

Soon, led by the maid, Zhong He walked in.
“Does Consort Zhong have business with me?”
Li Xuanyue didn’t waste time on pleasantries and went straight to the point.

Hearing this, Zhong He stopped holding back.
He lowered his brows and spoke slowly, “I wonder if the promise the Princess made to this subject in Wutong Hall still counts!”
Li Xuanyue was stunned.
What promise?
She thought carefully. Finally, she recalled that when she was dealing with Li Qinghe, she had promised him in Wutong Hall that if he helped her act out a scene, she would owe him a favor.
Seeing that she remembered, Zhong He continued, “My mother is still suffering outside. Can this subject request permission from the Princess to go out and meet her?”
Security in the Phoenix Clan was tight. Zhong He could have snuck out to see his mother, but too many things had happened recently, and he didn’t want to attract attention.
That was why he thought of Li Xuanyue’s previous promise.
