Chapter 91: Looking at People Through a Door Crack—Your Master is a Good Man
Li Xuanyue’s gaze turned completely cold.
“It seems Young Master Lin has yet to clarify his own position.”
Before Li Xuanyue could even voice her displeasure, Junhe, who had been watching the spectacle from the side for quite some time, stepped forward to take the conversation over for her.
“You and the Princess no longer share the bond of a consort and his wife.”
“Do you not think your words are liable to cause a misunderstanding?”
His airy tone carried a distinct note of disdain toward Lin Yue.
For someone like Lin Yue—who liked to try and graze on old pastures and feign pitifulness in front of Li Xuanyue—Junhe held nothing but contempt in his heart.
Moreover, a living, breathing consort was standing right here. Yet, Lin Yue acted as if Junhe didn’t exist. He deliberately tried to rekindle old flames with Li Xuanyue right in front of him.
Wasn’t this practically saying Junhe might as well be dead?
Mocked by Junhe’s words, Lin Yue’s face flushed a deep crimson.
His eyes darted away, and he lowered his head in a flustered manner. “This is a matter between the Princess and myself. I ask that Consort Jun avoid interfering.”
When Lin Yue said this, his confidence was clearly lacking.
Did he still think he was back in the Phoenix Harmony Palace? Did he think Li Xuanyue would still center everything around him, listening to his arrangements and commands?
From the moment Li Xuanyue drove him out of the Phoenix Harmony Palace and sent him to Li Qinghe’s side, it signified that he would never again have any relationship with the Phoenix Harmony Palace or Li Xuanyue.
Speaking like this now was merely bringing humiliation upon himself.
“This Princess has nothing to say to you,” Li Xuanyue rejected him swiftly.
If not for the fact that Junhe was standing beside her, she might have already ordered someone to drive him away. She certainly wouldn’t have let him stay here to spout nonsense.
Lin Yue, utterly crushed by Li Xuanyue’s direct hit, felt as if he were going mad. He had no face left to see anyone. Naturally, he could not thicken his skin enough to remain.
He swayed, taking two steps back, before fleeing in shame, his face pale as a sheet.
Meanwhile, inside the Wolf Tooth Palace.
Fengyi watched as Langhua sat in the main seat, drinking tea with a leisurely and carefree expression.
Fengyi’s heart was full of bitterness.
“Young Master, how could you be gone for so long this time?” Fengyi complained. “Do you know that this subordinate was worried to death?”
Fortunately, Langhua had finally returned safely. Otherwise, Fengyi truly wouldn’t have known how to explain this to the Elders and the Madame back home.
Langhua uncrossed his legs nonchalantly. “Worried about what?”
He set the teacup aside and spoke indifferently. “Your Young Master isn’t a fool. If I encounter danger, don’t you think I know how to hide?”
Besides, he hadn’t intended to be delayed for so long. It was all because he had been schemed against by that wretched girl, Li Qinghe.
He truly hadn’t expected that even after being demoted to a commoner, she could still stir up waves.
It seemed the lesson the Second Prince of the Snake Clan taught her wasn’t quite enough.
Langhua narrowed his eyes, a trace of calculation seemingly rising in his heart.
“Fengyi, what do you say we go to the Minghua Palace later to pay our respects to the Second Prince and that deposed Princess?”
Langhua’s mental leap was simply too great.
Li Qinghe had been demoted for so long, yet he hadn’t mentioned visiting her at the Chaoren Palace before. Proposing it now was clearly harboring ill intentions.
Fengyi was stunned for a moment. His mind was still stuck on the disappearance incident, yet his master was already plotting other things.
This forced Fengyi to become vigilant again.
“What does Young Master intend to do to the Second Prince and Princess Qinghe?”
Fengyi had followed Langhua since childhood. He wouldn’t dare claim he understood him one hundred percent, but he knew that when Langhua spoke like this, he was definitely brewing some bad ideas.
It just remained to be seen who would be the unlucky victim.
Langhua frowned, speaking unhappily, “Why do you like looking at people through a door crack and belittling your own Master like this?”
“Your Young Master is a good person,” Langhua emphasized specifically. “You cannot look down on him so.”
Fengyi’s mouth twitched.
“Then regarding Princess Xuanyue… how do you plan to explain things, Young Master?”
They had just refused Li Xuanyue’s invitation on the grounds of physical discomfort. The very next moment, Langhua runs off to the Minghua Palace to pick a fight with Princess Qinghe.
If this reached Li Xuanyue’s ears, she would likely be displeased.
Langhua stood up and sighed deeply. “How else can I explain? Just let her know!”
“Anyway, her relationship with Li Qinghe isn’t exactly good.”
If he went to make trouble for them, she might even secretly rejoice when she found out.
Li Xuanyue was unaware of Langhua’s plans. After she and Junhe drove Lin Yue away, they went back to being busy.
When Liu Wuya arrived, the roasted Beggar’s Chicken had just been dug out of the charcoal fire by Junhe.
“Is it done?”
Liu Wuya’s cloudy old eyes lit up with a sharp gleam as he constantly sniffed at the Beggar’s Chicken in Junhe’s hands.
“It smells truly fragrant!” he praised.
His original intention had been to test Li Xuanyue’s sincerity—to see if she was truly willing to cook personally. He never imagined the chicken she roasted would smell this good.
“Lass, you really haven’t let this old man down.”
Liu Wuya chuckled and gave her a thumbs up. “Rest assured, from now on, this old man will do his utmost to help you.”
If for nothing else, just Li Xuanyue’s hands-on dedication was something ordinary people couldn’t compare to. He had truly come to the Phoenix Clan at the right time.
“Divine Physician, as long as you are happy!”
Li Xuanyue, smiling brightly, plated the roasted chicken and handed it to Liu Wuya.
“Here, Divine Physician, have a taste!”
Liu Wuya didn’t stand on ceremony with Li Xuanyue and Junhe. He picked up the whole chicken and began to gnaw on it.
“Mmm, delicious. Not bad.”
Liu Wuya’s eyes shone. He ate and evaluated simultaneously. This was probably the most tender, fresh, and delicious roast chicken he had ever eaten.
Seeing Liu Wuya eat so happily, Li Xuanyue felt an indescribable satisfaction. This was likely the happiness one felt when their creation was recognized by others.
“There’s more over there. Divine Physician, eat slowly. If it’s not enough, I’ll dig out two more for you.”
Seeing him wolfing it down, Li Xuanyue was genuinely worried he might choke and hurriedly reminded him.
She had roasted ten chickens in total. Aside from one for each of the five consorts, there were five left. Even if Liu Wuya ate three, there would still be two remaining—just enough to send to Li Phoenix and Hua Shan for them to taste.
“No matter.”
Liu Wuya waved his sleeve, nonchalantly brushing crumbs from his beard. “This old man has always been unconstrained. You two don’t need to mind me!”
Since Liu Wuya had spoken, Li Xuanyue naturally couldn’t say more. As long as he was happy.
Out of the ten chickens, Liu Wuya eventually ate two, finally filling his stomach to the brim.
Burp~
“Lass, this Beggar’s Chicken of yours is truly well made.”
After eating and drinking his fill, Liu Wuya began picking his teeth with a toothpick, looking as though he still yearned for more. “Pack one up for this old man later to take back to my palace to eat.”
“Right now, I can’t eat another bite.”
But that didn’t affect his desire to continue eating chicken later.
“No problem. I will have a maid pack it up and deliver it to your palace shortly.”
