Becoming the Abused Omega and Conquering the Hidden Alpha chapter 21 PART 2
Part 2
“Don’t want to do it?” Gu Lanzhu glared at him coldly. “Then get out.”
Zhao Qian bent slightly, agreeing.
The summer sun beat down, baking the ground. Zhao Qian left Gu Lanzhu’s cool, airy bedroom, removing his glasses and constantly wiping them. He walked through the hot wisteria corridor, his steps quickening as he headed towards another detached building.
Besides the servants, all the other staff lived there.
He went to the top floor and directly pushed open the door: “Xiao Yi, are you sure Mr. Gu isn’t injured? Can you go check on him again, please?”
After closing the door, he saw a Beta lying on the window seat.
Her legs were straight, her toes resting on the window, her body forming an “L” shape as she lay on her back playing with her phone, trying out some new leg-slimming method, it seemed.
Yi Xing Shui put down her phone and looked at him: “It’s just an Omega. How much force could that kick have? Don’t worry, he’s fine. The more you check on him, the more psychological trauma he’ll have.”
Yi Xing Shui sat up, changing to a cross-legged position: “Did he torment you again?”
Zhao Qian remained silent, pulling up a chair and sitting down, familiarly reaching for the blood pressure medication on the table.
Yi Xing Shui raised an eyebrow. She understood perfectly; Zhao Qian’s words were pure venting and complaining.
Whenever a particularly heavy burden fell on Zhao Qian, he would come to her for sedatives and sleeping pills. She didn’t know what task Gu Lanzhu had given him this time, but he was even taking blood pressure medication.
It must have been quite devilish.
Yi Xing Shui didn’t ask any further questions. Sometimes, silence was the best way to get along with colleagues. She simply said, “Mr. Zhao, you’ve been by Mr. Gu’s side since he was a boy. If even you can’t handle him, how can anyone else?”
Then she went back to her phone.
“I know,” Zhao Qian took several gulps of water, put his glasses back on, and regained his composure. “By the way, Mr. Gu will need some medicine these next few days. I’ll send you a list later.”
As soon as Zhao Qian finished speaking, Yi Xing Shui’s phone buzzed.
“Okay, okay,” she answered perfunctorily, opening the message. She instantly went silent, her expression incredibly focused, unaware of Zhao Qian’s departure.
Yi Xing Shui stared at the chat interface. After waiting for days, her second senior sister finally replied.
Second Senior Sister: Xiao Shui, why did you suddenly contact me?
Second Senior Sister: I was doing volunteer medical work in the mountains for the past few days; the signal was terrible. I just got home.
Yi Xing Shui: I went back to the general hospital a few days ago and happened to see someone taking a patient into our self-service room.
Second Senior Sister: ???
Second Senior Sister: Didn’t the mentor say that after reserving our access rights, it would become a classroom-only area?
Yi Xing Shui: Right! I told you I wasn’t wrong. Almost no one would bring a patient there except for the three of us. Don’t you think it’s Senior Brother who’s back?
As soon as this message was sent, the senior sister’s “typing…” status disappeared, and a video call came in quickly.
The plain-faced second senior sister looked haggard: “You went around in circles. Just say you might have found Senior Brother Lu’s whereabouts! Can you check the hospital surveillance?”
Yi Xing Shui said helplessly: “That’s the general hospital; nothing happened. Besides, I’m just a private doctor borrowing resources. Who would let me look at the surveillance?”
Second Senior Sister was speechless: “That’s true.”
The two were silent for a moment, both thinking of their taciturn and rigorous senior brother.
He had the brightest future, publishing papers in top journals easily, able to go to the best hospital and the best department, yet one day he suddenly disappeared.
“I saw a plate of honeysuckle and forsythia in the self-service room. Do you remember that before Senior Brother disappeared, he treated a patient who refused injections and could only take herbal medicine? Senior Brother specifically discussed it with a professor of herbal medicine for a long time.”
“My god, it’s very likely him!” Second Senior Sister took off her sun hat and wiped the sweat from her brow. “Did something happen to him? Did he change his name or get plastic surgery? Honestly, I can barely remember what he looks like anymore.”
“I can’t remember either,” Yi Xing Shui shrugged. “I’ve been keeping an eye on papers researching pheromone disorders these past few years, and no one seems to fit our senior brother’s style. Why don’t you send him a message? He hasn’t deleted you, right?”
“…If I dared to contact him, would I still be chatting with you here?” Second Senior Sister blushed. “Ever since I foolishly gave the pheromone disorder research exchange opportunity to Li Senior Brother, I haven’t dared to see him.”
“I’m not counting on you; I just wanted to confirm with you.” Yi Xing Shui relaxed. “My useless senior sister, go wash your face.”
Second Senior Sister grumbled and hung up. Yi Xing Shui opened her friend list, found her senior brother’s account, and started typing a message.
——Senior Brother Lu, are you back? There’s a pheromone disorder research conference at the general hospital recently. Will you be attending?
After finishing, she hesitated for a moment, then pressed send.
Base.
The last training session before departure ended. The tough Alphas had rare, slightly happy expressions on their faces. The departure was imminent, and Lu Wanqing reduced the intensity; he didn’t want to push them too hard.
After the Longji Island mission roster was read, Lu Wanqing simply assigned the tasks, then stood at attention with his hands behind his back in front of the team.
“Dismissed.”
“Yes!”
The elite Alphas’ resounding replies shook the ground, and they left the training ground at lightning speed. Cui You, with his peach blossom eyes smiling, stayed by Lu Wanqing’s side, watching the backs of his teammates and shaking his head.
“Something wrong?” Lu Wanqing glanced at him indifferently.
Cui You looked at him in shock: “Can’t I just chat with you before a mission? I thought, given our wives’ relationship, we could get closer!”
Is that comparable? Lu Wanqing looked away.
Cui You and Shen Ti were a high-compatibility couple who even filled their honeymoon with activities. He and Cui You didn’t have anything in common, let alone becoming closer.
Lu Wanqing thought this as he subconsciously touched his lips.
It had been some time since he returned, and he hadn’t felt that terrifying touch again.
It meant he hadn’t touched his photos again, right?
For some reason, he felt a little disappointed.
He tacitly allowed Cui You to chatter beside him as they returned to the locker room, changed out of their training clothes, and prepared to eat.
“I knew it. Every time before a mission, our communication signals are blocked,” Cui You hadn’t even finished his tie when his phone was already in his hand. “I wonder how long this ‘read but not replied’ status will last? My wife can’t stand those four words.”
Lu Wanqing tidied his cuffs and glanced sideways slightly.
He secretly took out his phone and looked down at his chat interface with Shu Ci.
After that night, Shu Ci sent him his practice progress, his insights, and his confusion every day, as if he was using him as a personal record-keeping space.
He couldn’t reply to Shu Ci, so he could only watch the messages pile up, the “read but not replied” notification growing longer and longer, like a row of trees.
He didn’t know if Shu Ci cared about this.
He still saved screenshots of every message Shu Ci sent. The moment he exited the chat interface, a new conversation popped up in his list.
Before he even clicked on it, he saw the words “Senior Brother Lu.”
“What are you thinking about?” Cui You saw Lu Wanqing staring at his phone, and called out to him. “If we don’t go now, those guys will grab all the braised pork in the cafeteria.”
Lu Wanqing put away his phone, looked at Cui You for a moment, and asked, “Can you bloom a flower?”
