Part 2
When the three of them first enrolled, it took three nights of adjustment to gradually fall asleep. Even so, their sleep was shallow; any slight movement would wake them immediately.
Luo Shizhen just arrived. Logically speaking, he shouldn’t be able to sleep tonight and should only be able to close his eyes and rest his mind.
For a moment, everyone’s eyes were cast on Luo Shizhen.
He quietly sank into the soft duvet. Somewhat thick eyelashes cast a small shadow under his eyelids, trembling slightly with his even breathing. His expression was peaceful, cheeks faintly flushed.
He looked like he was sleeping very soundly.
Xiao Shan put down the game he had lost again in disbelief.
Isn’t a Purification user sensitive to Qi? Shouldn’t he feel uncomfortable because other strange Awakeners are present, and find it harder to accept sharing space with other Awakeners?
Where is this hard to accept?
Luo Shizhen basically fell asleep in seconds, looking simply like he made the dorm his home.
Xiao Shan climbed up in disbelief, reached out and waved in front of Luo Shizhen’s face. Luo Shizhen didn’t react and continued sleeping peacefully.
However, the way he slept wasn’t as irritating as during the day. He looked a bit obedient.
Xiao Shan inexplicably wanted to reach out and pinch Luo Shizhen’s red cheeks; they felt like they would have a good texture.
—Fuck! What is he thinking?!
Xiao Shan felt like he was poisoned by Luo Shizhen. Otherwise, why would all sorts of strange thoughts pop up as soon as he got close to this guy?
He simply put down the game and lay down to sleep too. Tomorrow, he had to train this guy properly.
Rong Nian was itching to take advantage of Luo Shizhen being asleep to observe him up close, but thinking there were others in the dorm, he could only slap his leg unwillingly, turn over, and close his eyes to sleep.
Lu Qiujin continued to stare at Luo Shizhen under the soft light, wondering what he was thinking.
—Click.
He turned off the light. The dorm plunged into darkness. Luo Shizhen shrank into the duvet and slept even more soundly.
The next day was still a holiday. The entire dormitory building was quiet without even a speaking voice. Luo Shizhen and Xiao Shan had arrived at the training room.
Luo Shizhen still wore the combat suit somewhat clumsily but seriously, looking at Xiao Shan with dark, bright eyes full of expectation.
Xiao Shan added weights to himself. Like boxing, he touched fists together:
“Ready?”
Luo Shizhen’s voice was muffled, sounding like it came from a big vat: “Ready.”
Xiao Shan: “…You didn’t turn on the comms. Turn on team comms.”
“Oh, okay.”
Luo Shizhen fiddled with it unskillfully: “Big Brother, can you hear me?”
“I can hear you.”
After Luo Shizhen’s fiddling, Xiao Shan’s aura couldn’t be maintained anymore.
Since he decided to train Luo Shizhen properly, Xiao Shan would treat it seriously.
He directly copied what his “teacher” told him when he just learned fighting as a child.
Xiao Shan clenched his fist:
“Kid, remember this. Mountains fall, people run. Only yourself is the most reliable!”
Luo Shizhen nodded. Because he was wearing the combat suit and helmet and wasn’t used to it, his nod appeared slow:
“Big Brother, do I need to take notes?”
Xiao Shan: “…No need for notes. In short, although you are a Purification user and can be protected by teammates after joining a team, don’t slack off on improving your own strength because of this.”
“Do you know why Purification users only join teams four or five years after awakening?”
Luo Shizhen tried hard to recall: “Mr. Chen said, because they need to bond with teammates.”
Xiao Shan: “Heh!”
“Purification users are naturally sensitive to Qi, afraid of Qi, and instinctively want to stay away from Qi. But Purification users are Energy Users. When an Energy User repels energy itself, it’s impossible to mobilize energy.”
So, this created a helpless situation.
Purification could remove pollution, but ordinary people who were harmless enough not to trigger the user’s stress response would mutate or die rapidly within minutes of being polluted, unable to wait for transport to treatment.
And strange Awakeners who could survive until treatment would be instinctively rejected by the Purification user’s body, resulting in the inability to use the purification ability.
So even though they knew a Purification user came to enroll, they never had any expectation of Luo Shizhen “helping remove pollution.”
The twenty-seven students knew very well that the newly awakened Luo Shizhen was just borrowing the Qi from his classmates to undergo a long and slow adaptation process in the relatively peaceful school.
Once he graduated, adapted to Qi, and accepted training, he would naturally be assigned to a team of older people who could control themselves better, becoming their team center.
Luo Shizhen listened confusedly: “Then Big Brother, can’t I use my ability for these three years?”
But interacting with Awakeners, I don’t feel uncomfortable. On the contrary, I feel very happy.
The school was big and luxurious, the benefits were exceptionally good, and the roommates were all exceptionally polite, consciously keeping quiet and not disturbing other roommates.
Luo Shizhen was simply extremely happy. He felt his grandmother in heaven must be blessing him to find such a good “job.”
Last night he was thinking, next holiday, he must go back to his hometown to burn paper money for his grandmother. Now that he had money, he could burn a big paper villa for her.
—But it seems I indeed don’t know how to use my ability.
Luo Shizhen felt a bit guilty. Didn’t the school recruit him for his ability?
Then taking this twenty thousand monthly salary felt so guilty.
He asked unwillingly: “If I practice hard, can I use the ability?”
Xiao Shan looked Luo Shizhen up and down.
In thirty years, only two Purification users could use their abilities during the initial awakening period.
However, the objects being purified were lovers of these two Purification users.
Because there was already deep emotion, trusting the other party one hundred percent, believing the other wouldn’t hurt them.
Emotion overrode the Awakener’s instinct to repel their own kind, allowing them to use abilities without stress.
Of course, the lovers of these two Purification users were same-sex.
Looking at Luo Shizhen, who was clumsy all over and didn’t look like he had a lover no matter how you looked…
Xiao Shan concluded that within these three years, Luo Shizhen probably wouldn’t be able to use his ability.
But he didn’t say it absolutely: “Depends on the situation. But right now, you should practice your physical skills well first.”
It didn’t matter if he couldn’t use the ability. Before Xiao Shan awakened, couldn’t he still beat ten people alone?
He could do it; why couldn’t Luo Shizhen?
Xiao Shan pulled directly back to the main topic: “Open the armor. I’ll teach you defense now. Learn for your life!”
“In the past, if you couldn’t use your ability, fine, the school would protect you. But now Anomalies are getting stronger, and the school isn’t completely safe.”
“You know about the Wangyun City incident, right? Dozens of Awakener students were pulled into an Anomaly Field, along with a teacher, and none survived.”
Entering combat mode, Xiao Shan quickly became excited:
“Even if you are Support type, you are an Awakener. Your physical strength is not comparable to ordinary people. You can still polish your combat power.”
He planned to attack Luo Shizhen himself last night and let Luo Shizhen dodge.
But looking at the “lackey” full of expectation and worship, Xiao Shan silently abandoned this decision. He was afraid of accidentally beating Luo Shizhen to death.
“You! Attack me!”
Luo Shizhen hesitated: “How to attack?”
Xiao Shan: “How you fight usually, fight me like that now.”
Luo Shizhen charged obediently.
There were no bricks on the ground, so he picked up a dumbbell and smashed it toward Xiao Shan’s head.
Xiao Shan was slightly surprised in his heart. He didn’t expect Luo Shizhen, looking soft and weak, to be quite ruthless in action.
His body dodged quickly: “Too slow, posture is wrong too. Again!”
Luo Shizhen continued obediently.
He had no fighting skills. The only thing he knew was acting bravely for a just cause. But controlling his strength had become a habit, quickly discovered by Xiao Shan.
“Are you holding back? Don’t hold back, use full strength!”
“Faster!”
“Legs must be tense. You don’t put any strength in your legs; kicking has no lethality. Tense your legs! Again!”
“Tsk! That’s a useless move. I don’t even need to dodge for you to miss me. Use elbow strikes, use elbows!”
Luo Shizhen gradually discovered that although it was tiring, after using the moves Big Brother taught him, it really was easier than before!
His eyes were shining with spirit. Without Xiao Shan urging, he pounced again and again.
