Part 2
Lu Qiujin: “…”
He had thought of many questions Luo Shizhen might ask, but he never expected he would actually ask about test questions.
Lu Qiujin remained silent for a full ten seconds or so. Luo Shizhen was puzzled and lowered his voice, asking softly:
“Lu Qiujin, are you asleep?”
Lu Qiujin: “No.”
He said slowly, “I was recalling that question.”
Eventually, Lu Qiujin answered:
“Although some Anomalies can hide in shadows and evade an Awakener’s detection, our combat uniforms and watches have functions to detect surrounding energy.”
“In daily situations, choosing B isn’t wrong. But in a combat context, B is the first to be eliminated because the moment an Anomaly hides in our shadow, the watch will issue a warning.”
Luo Shizhen suddenly understood.
“But why is A correct? Can Qi detect hidden Anomalies?”
“You haven’t been able to sense your own Qi yet, so you don’t understand this question. An Awakener’s Qi is easily affected by Anomaly pollution. Even if some stealth-specialized Anomalies suppress all their aura and lurk beside an Awakener, even if the watch fails to detect them, the Qi will be affected.”
Lu Qiujin spoke slowly, “So if intuition feels wrong, check the Qi. If the Qi is more irritable than usual or has slight fluctuations, there is a high probability that a stealthy Anomaly is lurking nearby.”
Luo Shizhen had an epiphany. “So that’s it! Then after checking the Qi and finding fluctuations, what should we do?”
“Step one, immediately activate defensive functions. Step two, inform teammates. Step three, launch high-intensity attacks within a fifty-meter radius centered on yourself while waiting for teammate support.”
His explanation was clear and concise. Luo Shizhen couldn’t help but admire him. “You are so amazing, remembering it so clearly.”
In the darkness, Lu Qiujin’s lips curled up slightly at the lavish praise.
“It’s nothing. If you have questions in the future, just ask me directly. We are in the same dorm; it’s much more convenient than going to Teacher Chen.”
“Okay! Thank you, Lu Qiujin!”
Luo Shizhen threw out another question:
“I have another question. It’s ‘If a teammate is discovered to have been polluted for two minutes during combat and attacks you, what should you do?’ I chose ‘Strike the teammate hard and tie him up,’ but why is it wrong?”
Lu Qiujin: “Because it’s a trick question. If a teammate is polluted during combat, within two minutes, they should still be rational. A teammate at this stage won’t attack people. You should have chosen ‘Immediately move away and call the Supervisor. If time doesn’t permit, kill the teammate yourself.'”
He thought for a moment. “But this question has a loophole. You are a Purifier; perhaps you can purify the teammate on the spot. Tomorrow we can mention it to Teacher Chen and ask them to add a purification option next time.”
Luo Shizhen instantly felt Lu Qiujin was even more amazing.
“We can even ask the teacher to add options? Lu Qiujin, you actually thought of that. You’re too strong.”
Lu Qiujin’s smile widened.
Luo Shizhen asked again, “There’s one more question asking how to deal with the Crying Face Pupa…”
“That one is simple too. Crying Face Pupas are afraid of salt. Just sprinkle some salt grains.”
The two went back and forth with questions and answers. Every time Lu Qiujin answered Luo Shizhen’s question, he received high praise.
Luo Shizhen wasn’t actually very good at sweet talk; his praise revolved around the same few sentences. But his tone was sincere. Lu Qiujin stared at the ceiling like that, unknowingly answering questions for over an hour.
It wasn’t until he finished answering the last question and waited a long time without Luo Shizhen asking another that he instinctively turned to look.
The lights were off in the dorm, but with an Awakener’s vision, it was no different from having the lights on. He could see everything clearly.
Luo Shizhenâs sleeping face was fully within his view.
Actually, Lu Qiujin had seen him sleep the first day Luo Shizhen came to the dorm.
At that time, he just thought the new classmate was quite boldâsleeping so quickly on his first time in the dorm, facing three strange Awakeners.
He had glanced once back then and didn’t look again.
But now, watching Luo Shizhen sunk into the pillow, eyelashes closed in sound sleep, he somehow couldn’t look enough.
Luo Shizhen’s hand unconsciously clutched a corner of the quilt. Because he was sleeping on his side, the quilt on the other side was lifted a bit. The bear pajamas covered him tightly, but being thin, one could vaguely glimpse the lines of his waist and abdomen rising and falling with his breathing.
He slept very obediently, truly motionless, even his breathing light and shallow.
Completely different from his vibrant appearance during the day when he smiled and offered to carry the weights.
Lu Qiujin’s gaze landed on Luo Shizhenâs exposed ankle, and he quickly retracted his gaze as if burned.
He lifted his head slightly to look ahead. While maintaining this limited vision, he picked up the slipped quilt and covered Luo Shizhen accurately.
âAfter all, it is to achieve the goal of making friends by pleasing Luo Shizhen, so that Luo Shizhen can help purify me.
Lu Qiujin silently recited this sentence in his heart, not knowing who he was saying it to.
He lay back on the bed, only realizing then that he had been holding his breath while covering Luo Shizhen just now.
Lu Qiujin stared at the ceiling in the dark. An Awakener’s keen hearing allowed him to hear the soft breathing beside him.
Too close.
Even the breathing was heard clearly.
Will I be unable to sleep?
Thinking this, Lu Qiujin closed his eyes very quickly.
Before falling asleep, he was still thinking about finding some school exam materials to read tomorrow.
Why hadn’t he thought of it before? Luo Shizhen cared so much about studying. Tutoring him was the fastest way to gain favorability.
Lu Qiujin wasn’t the only one thinking this way; Ying He, who was rushing to catch up on notes, thought the same.
He didn’t live in the same dorm as his twin brother. Ying He and his three roommates in the Tianshu Dormitory had always minded their own business.
Ying He didn’t talk much usually, nor did he love fighting like other classmates. He always sat quietly and disliked conflict.
For other students who loved fighting, Ying He’s presence was weaker than the newcomer Luo Shizhen’s.
Just the fact that Luo Shizhen’s Qi showed friendliness to other students’ Qi was enough to arouse the curiosity of this group of favored children.
But tonight, the other three roommates in Ying He’s Tianshu Dormitory were curious about him for the first time.
Someone peeked over and saw that in the dark night, in front of the desk, a pair of huge white wings, which looked divine at first glance, were folded together, tightly shielding the owner of the wings inside.
This was Ying He’s talent, Angel’s Wings.
When using this ability, his wings provided a buff that made Ying He’s mind clearer. That was why he was the most resistant to pollution among all students in this school.
Perhaps precisely because of this, Ying He’s emotions were much more stable than other students.
Ying Liu was clearly an Angel too, but his wings didn’t buff mental clarity; instead, they buffed irritability, making people more eager to fight.
Ying He originally came to the school for his twin brother.
He had always hoped to leave early because leaving would mean his brother’s falling process was under control.
But he didn’t expect the time to leave would be just when he fell for a classmate.
Ying He naturally didn’t want to leave, but his emotions were stable. Rational analysis told him that given the current situation, they definitely had to return to the team.
Therefore, the notes to be given to Luo Shizhen had to be more detailed so he could use them longer.
Under the buff of mental clarity, even staying up late, his train of thought remained clear.
With Ying He’s seemingly unhurried but actually rapid writing speed, rigorous, restrained characters, precise as clock gears, appeared on the notebook.
None of the three roommates slept. Although Ying He’s wings blocked the light source and the sound of writing.
But Awakeners had curiosity too.
Ying He was a very organized person who never disrupted his plans. He always slept on time and woke on time, standard as a robot.
Staying up late tonight against his norm, even using his talent ability to stay alertâthis was too unusual.
Awakeners all had the same ingrained bad habit: they couldn’t stand things happening beyond their control right in front of them. The three didn’t speak, but they all decided to see what Ying He was up to.
That night, none of the four people in Tianshu Dormitory slept.
That night, Lu Qiujin had a bunch of messy dreams.
