Chapter 28: Being Ravaged by You?
“Guess what?” Jiang Chenyan looked up at Shen Shiyue. The corners of his eyes had an alluring curve, and he was full of the aura of an overbearing CEO. He added, “Don’t let them touch you.”
At the thought of Xie Huaijin and those people touching Shen Shiyue, he felt a bit unhappy, his whole body itchy.
Shen Shiyue was amused by the contrast. He raised an eyebrow and asked in return: “Why don’t you usually act like this? So overbearing.”
Jiang Chenyan gave a low laugh. His fingertips brushed over Shen Shiyue’s wrist seemingly unintentionally. His voice became even deeper: “Is that so? Then call me ‘President Jiang’.”
Shen Shiyue’s throat paused, and he was momentarily speechless.
This person was burning until he was confused. Adding in his pheromones, he was already a bit delirious. “…”
Jiang Chenyan held Shen Shiyue even tighter, his cheek pressed against the other’s slightly cool neck. He had a bit of dazed confusion: “Your body is so cool. And you smell dizzying. Why?”
Shen Shiyue’s eyes suddenly darkened. His fingertips lightly pinched Jiang Chenyan’s waist. “Because my pheromones are just like that. Do you like them?”
“Like what?” Jiang Chenyan shook his head because of the pain, clearly not following his train of thought. He only gave a vague evaluation: “Pretty powerful.”
Shen Shiyue gave a low laugh and didn’t ask further. His warm breath brushed over Jiang Chenyan’s ear tips, his voice carrying a lure: “I know you’re very hot. Do you want to kiss?”
Jiang Chenyan’s brain crashed again. “…”
“Do you?”
Do you want to kiss?
Jiang Chenyan’s mind was heavily muddled, and he didn’t think about it at all, looking up and kissing him directly.
In the moment their lips touched, it was the expected coolness. He spoke in a daze, letting out the words he had hidden for a long time: “Shen Shiyue, do you know? When I first saw you, I thought you were good-looking.”
He had been thoroughly stunned by him—whether it was his face or his body.
“What a coincidence. I did too.”
Shen Shiyue’s voice came from against his lips. The next second, he gripped the back of his neck, deeply intensifying the kiss.
Jiang Chenyan shivered from the kiss, stunned again and again.
Had he just taken away Shen Shiyue’s first kiss?
The system had just logged onto the main page when it ran into this scene. It immediately started screaming powerlessly:
[System: Host, what are you doing?! Ahhh—]
Jiang Chenyan kept a straight face and explained seriously: “Such a good person like him shouldn’t be ravaged by the Protagonist Attackers.”
The system was so angry it laughed: [System: So he should be ravaged by you instead?]
Jiang Chenyan hadn’t completely snapped out of it yet. His mind was half a beat slow, and he asked blankly in return: “What?”
The system now completely understood. Its host’s mind was sluggish from the fever.
It was both angry and anxious. To make Jiang Chenyan wake up sooner, it simply activated the treatment function.
The next second, sleepiness suddenly surged. Jiang Chenyan’s eyelids were heavy, and he unconsciously let go of the hand he had wrapped around Shen Shiyue.
Seeing this, Shen Shiyue naturally tightened his arms to hold him steadily, letting Jiang Chenyan sleep in his embrace.
System: […]
You two, an ‘OO’ relationship is very hard to have a result.
The next day, when Jiang Chenyan woke up, the fragments from yesterday kept surging in his mind. He was beyond embarrassed and didn’t know how to face Shen Shiyue for a moment.
No way? Was he that crazy when he had a fever?
He was having a fever, not acting in heat.
Jiang Chenyan didn’t know how to describe kissing Shen Shiyue, only that he didn’t dislike it.
He had thought Shen Shiyue would be as embarrassed as he was, but no. The other’s expression was as usual, and he didn’t mention a word about last night, as if nothing had happened.
He raised his hand and lightly touched Jiang Chenyan’s head. “The fever has already receded. The recovery ability this time was so fast.”
It wasn’t just fast; it was a bit ridiculously fast.
Jiang Chenyan knew in his heart that it was all thanks to the system. Not only had the fever receded, but even the wounds were quietly healing.
Jiang Chenyan gave a light cough, breaking the delicate atmosphere. He asked, “How are those few doing?”
“They’re already exchanging points for mechas,” Shen Shiyue said. “Our accumulated points are decent; exchanging for three is more than enough. It’s just the two of us left. We just need to take care of a few more people.”
Jiang Chenyan nodded. He casually opened the ranking interface. When he saw the numbers on it, he was instantly stunned. “Ten teams have already been completely eliminated?”
Shen Shiyue also leaned in to take a look. His brows furrowed slightly, and he nodded slowly. “It seems so.”
“Didn’t the rules for the first round say that only the bottom ten teams would be eliminated?” Jiang Chenyan was a bit surprised when he realized. “Doesn’t that mean we’ve already passed the first round in advance?”
He hadn’t expected it to be so easy. It was so easy it actually made one’s heart feel uneasy, with an indescribable strangeness.
“In theory, yes.” Shen Shiyue nodded, his gaze sweeping over the equipment rack. “It seems that next, we just need to focus on getting points.”
The two didn’t delay further. They quickly checked and organized their respective equipment, confirming that the weapons and protective devices were all normal before setting out.
Taking care of a few isolated teams along the way, their points were soon enough.
“If only we could seize a skip,” Jiang Chenyan suddenly suggested. “Not only would it be convenient for movement, but we could also go directly to meet up with our teammates.”
“Then let’s just find a complete army to attack and take the skip.”
Jiang Chenyan made an ‘OK’ sign.
Shen Shiyue used the scout to locate the enemy skip’s docking area, marking the specific locations of the army guard, the energy room, and the cockpit.
The two would coordinate from inside and out. Shen Shiyue would take the opportunity to attract the army’s attention, while Jiang Chenyan would find a way to get inside and cut off the army’s communications.
“Do you know how to cut off their communications?” Shen Shiyue turned his head to look at Jiang Chenyan.
Jiang Chenyan nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ll just hack in directly.”
It was much more than just cutting off communications.
With his skills, the power control of the entire energy room and the signal transmission of the communication room were all a piece of cake.
Shen Shiyue evaluated: “Impressive.”
The two acted as soon as they spoke. Jiang Chenyan’s fingers tapped rapidly on the portable device. In just a few seconds, he had hacked into the enemy system. The communication signal was cut off instantly, and the power output of the energy room was precisely controlled.
Meanwhile, Shen Shiyue took advantage of the other’s confusion to quickly break through the outer defense line and head straight for the skip’s cockpit.
the entire army was stunned by this move.
It turned out these two weren’t here to kill for points at all; they were here for the skip.
Not only were the army NPCs on the field stunned, but even the people watching from outside the simulator were dazed. No one had expected this move.
Jiang Xuanshen watched on the screen as Jiang Chenyan quickly hacked into the system and precisely controlled the enemy’s energy and communications. His fingertips rubbed together unconsciously as he fell into thought.
His face also darkened bit by bit.
Something was already different.
This younger brother of his had quite a few secrets that he didn’t know about.
Kai Lan gave a click of his tongue, his heart settling. “They’re steady now.”
“I don’t think so.” Ariel’s brows were locked tight, especially since he had just received a new notification. “The rules have been changed temporarily…”
“What?”
As soon as the words were out, there was an uproar in the viewing stands.
After discussion, the school believed the first round of the competition was not challenging enough, so they changed the rules temporarily.
The competition was supposed to last for seven days. It was impossible to have a result on the first day. If the outcome was decided early, the teams at the back would mostly slack off, not even wanting to move.
Therefore, to stimulate everyone’s enthusiasm for the competition, the school had temporarily changed the rules.
The content of the new rules made everyone’s heart tighten: once killed in the simulator, one would directly lose their qualification and leave the military academy.
“Good heavens, the sky has fallen for the students who have already been killed.”
“Why did this kind of rule suddenly appear? What exactly is the school doing?”
“Who knows? They’ve done this kind of thing in previous years too. There’s no way but to accept it.”
“Actually, this is quite good. It’s much more interesting than before and more challenging.”
Kai Lan stared at the new rules on the screen, but always felt something was wrong. He murmured in a low voice: “Why do I feel like this rule is targeting Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue…”
Clearly the two were steady, and then this happened.
What was even worse was that the two had always been seen as thorns in the side by certain people. They were highly likely to be surrounded, and if they weren’t careful, they might stumble.
“Shut up. Keep your voice down.” Ariel interrupted him, his face tense as he warned in a low voice, “Don’t you know that walls have ears? If those words are overheard, it’ll be big trouble.”
“Why are you so cowardly?” Kai Lan rolled his eyes. “You’ve been in the military academy for so long for nothing.”
“One more word and I’m sending you home.”
Kai Lan: “…”
Threatening him.
When Jiang Chenyan first received the news of the new rules, his brows locked tight instantly. “Wait? What’s the situation?”
They had just snatched a skip and thought it was completely steady. They were even planning to fly the skip to meet up with Ji Xuan and the others to celebrate, only for this change to happen halfway.
“Now we not only have to get points, but we also have to make sure we don’t die.” Jiang Chenyan rubbed his brow. “These next few days are going to be tough.”
In his eyes, points weren’t hard, but his life was hard to protect.
He always felt that someone wanted to assassinate him and Shen Shiyue.
Shen Shiyue patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry. We’ll take it one step at a time.”
“Mhm, we’ll take it one step at a time.”
Jiang Chenyan agreed readily with his words, but in reality, he was tense the whole time, maintaining a high level of vigilance at all moments, afraid to miss any potential danger.
He really couldn’t be eliminated. Being eliminated meant he had to leave the military academy. Wouldn’t that mean the mission the system issued had failed?
Fortunately, Shen Shiyue showed his skills at the critical moment. Relying on his sharp judgment to pick routes, he avoided the activity range of most teams. The two moved forward all the way, and they actually didn’t encounter many direct conflicts.
The disadvantage was that they had to take quite a detour, and it would take more time to meet up with Ji Xuan and the others.
Time passed second by second during their journey. The road ahead gradually split into two forks. Just as the two were preparing to pick a more hidden route, the skip suddenly gave a violent shudder, and the alarm instantly shattered the peace in the cabin.
Outside the window, several skips surrounded them, locking them firmly in the middle.
Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue exchanged a look, their brows furrowing at the same time.
The shuddering didn’t stop. The enemy team’s skip communication signal suddenly cut into the cockpit screen. The screen flashed, and Mu Sixian’s face appeared clearly.
“Long time no see, you two.”
The Alpha’s voice was intentionally light through the speakers, making it exceptionally piercing.
Jiang Chenyan stared at the face on the screen, so angry his knuckles turned white. He spat out a name through gritted teeth: “Mu Sixian.”
A playful arc curled at the corner of Mu Sixian’s mouth. He very much enjoyed Jiang Chenyan’s exasperated expression. “How about you beg me? I might even consider letting you go. What do you think?”
“In your dreams.”
Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue countered almost simultaneously.
It seemed the two were very in sync.
The smile on Mu Sixian’s face faded a bit.
“Oh? Since it’s like this, I’ll send you back to rest.” Mu Sixian gave a light laugh. “But the bet between me and Shen Shiyue still counts. In the end, the only one who will leave the military academy is Shen Shiyue, not you.”
“Jiang Chenyan, you’ll have to thank me then. Once it’s done, I’ll plead with the school to let you stay.”
“Scram.” Jiang Chenyan only spat out one word coldly, his gaze icy as he stared at the person on the screen.
Mu Sixian was annoyed by the rebuttal, but he particularly liked seeing Jiang Chenyan in this state of having reached a dead end, yet still refusing to bow his head and submit. The madness in his eyes gradually became twisted.
He didn’t say more and issued an order into the communicator in a deep voice.
The next second, the several skips surrounding them turned their cannon ports at the same time. The missile launchers were precisely locked onto the skip Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue were in.
Jiang Chenyan’s mind worked rapidly, and his fingers unconsciously tightened around the control stick. “I’ll think of a way. Hold on.”
They had to hold on.
