Chapter 33: Such a Big Bed; An Invitation from the Admiral? Arranging a Couple’s Suite?
Jiang Chenyan’s mind went blank for a split second, and he instinctively asked back, “Didn’t you say your grade was fake?”
Shen Shiyue nodded slightly, his voice deep. “It’s fake…” Only he knew the weight he carried behind that falsehood.
“Then that’s that…” Jiang Chenyan wanted to say more, perhaps something about “O helping O,” but the exhaustion and chill surging through his body were too heavy, so he silently closed his eyes.
Shen Shiyue’s throat tightened. He carefully laid him flat and pulled the quilt over him.
His consciousness drifted between wakefulness and sleep. Jiang Chenyan wasn’t fully asleep; the matter wasn’t resolved yet, and he certainly couldn’t collapse now.
Estimating that the results would be out in an hour, and with Kai Lan keeping an eye on things, he shouldn’t have been so worried, but he still couldn’t help but urge, “Call me when the results are out.”
In his haze, he heard Shen Shiyue’s voice coming from above, light as a feather brushing against his ear: “Okay.”
The evening breeze from outside had slipped in at some point, carrying the chill of an autumn night, quietly lifting half the curtain.
Jiang Chenyan’s room was very tidy, decorated in blue tones, with a pile of various books on the desk.
The corners of Shen Shiyue’s mouth curved up almost imperceptibly.
In the living room, several people in white coats were busy around their equipment, their hushed discussions occasionally drifting through.
Kai Lan sat alone on one side of the sofa, deliberately keeping a far distance from Jiang Xuanshen. Father Jiang and Mother Jiang had gone out on business, specifically instructing that they be notified immediately once the results were out.
Kai Lan could feel himself having a bit of a rejection reaction toward Jiang Xuanshen.
With nothing to do, he just kept picking at the edge of his terminal, his fingertips betraying his irritation.
To be honest, Jiang Xuanshen was simply selfish. Kai Lan had seen this kind of wealthy family drama before; he could more or less guess Jiang Xuanshen’s thoughts. It was nothing more than fearing Jiang Chenyan was too excellent and would snatch away his position as the person in power in the future.
He looked like a decent man on the outside, a regular gentleman, but who would have thought he had such filthy intentions inside?
While Kai Lan was secretly grumbling, an extremely cold voice fell without warning from above him, carrying a sense of pressure. Jiang Xuanshen questioned Kai Lan like he was interrogating a criminal: “When did you meet Jiang Chenyan? How did you meet?”
Kai Lan immediately frowned. Seriously, why ask so much? He replied casually, “We met because we wanted to, and we got close after chatting.”
These words were effectively nonsense.
The pressure around Jiang Xuanshen dropped further, as cold as ice. The first half of his sentence was somewhat patient, but the second half changed completely. “Speak properly. If I remember correctly, you’re that Omega who pretended to be an Alpha and ended up being carried out by military training personnel, right?”
Kai Lan’s voice vanished instantly, his face turning various shades of blue and white.
This was a past he was unwilling to mention; how was this any different from exposing his dark history?
“So what?” Kai Lan looked up into Jiang Xuanshen’s bottomless pupils. “Just mind your own business. Why do you care about me?”
Jiang Xuanshen laughed out of anger and didn’t stop there. “I really don’t know what you Omegas are thinking, forcing your way into the military academy one after another. You are like this.” He paused, his tone suddenly shifting as he added suggestively, “What about my brother? It seems he’s the same.”
These words almost made Kai Lan explode with rage.
His brows tightened instantly, and his tone deepened. “What do you mean? I think we’ve already explained—Jiang Chenyan is not an Omega.”
Hearing this, Jiang Xuanshen let out a sneer. “Your reaction is quite fast.”
Kai Lan’s nails dug deep into his palms. Only through the sharp pain did he manage to suppress the surging fury. In less than an hour, he had already developed a strong loathing for the man in front of him.
He clearly remembered that during the competition, Jiang Xuanshen was sitting several rows behind him. At the time, he hadn’t felt anything toward this man, treating him as a stranger. But now? Damn it, he’s a psychopath.
Kai Lan couldn’t be bothered to deal with Jiang Xuanshen anymore and simply turned his head away. The living room instantly fell into a heavy, oppressive silence, leaving only the faint sound of the equipment running.
Until a doctor in a white coat came over holding a report, breaking the silence: “The test results are out.”
Jiang Xuanshen stood up almost instantly. “What’s the result?”
Kai Lan also stood up abruptly, his fingertips involuntarily clenching. His heart pounded wildly; he was incredibly nervous.
It would be a lie to say he wasn’t afraid. He knew Jiang Chenyan had his ways, but he didn’t know to what extent.
Looking at the report in the doctor’s hand, Jiang Xuanshen’s lips curved up. He looked down at Kai Lan. “Want to bet?”
Kai Lan pursed his lips and didn’t respond, only turning to the doctor. His voice carried a tremor he hadn’t noticed: “Tell us, what is his identity? Is he an Omega?”
The relatively young doctor pushed up his glasses. His voice was calm but carried the weight of a thousand pounds: “He is an Omega…”
That short sentence hit Kai Lan like a thunderbolt.
He panicked completely. “No, Doctor, are you mistaken?”
It was just as expected.
The curve of Jiang Xuanshen’s lips widened as he looked at Kai Lan, his dark eyes full of mockery. “So it really is like this. How could the doctor be mistaken?”
Every word he spoke stabbed accurately into Kai Lan’s heart. “Things are already like this, and you still want to exonerate Jiang Chenyan?”
Kai Lan opened his mouth, but couldn’t say a single word. His chest felt stiflingly blocked.
Suddenly, the older doctor nearby frowned and said deeply to the young doctor, “Which report are you looking at? The report is over here with me.”
The young doctor hurriedly looked down at the report in his hand and fell silent…
The older doctor was too tired to complain. He looked at Jiang Xuanshen and explained with an apologetic tone, “Apologies, this is my student. His eyesight isn’t very good. The young Master Jiang’s test result is Alpha.”
As he spoke, he handed the report to Jiang Xuanshen, but Jiang Xuanshen’s hand, which was halfway out, suddenly froze and hesitated to take it.
Kai Lan breathed a long sigh of relief. He stepped forward and took the report for Jiang Xuanshen. When he saw the results on the paper clearly, the heart that had been hanging in his throat finally settled.
“I told you he wasn’t an Omega, but you wouldn’t believe it, and you even wasted effort hiring doctors…” As he spoke, he looked up at Jiang Xuanshen, but his voice stopped abruptly.
Jiang Xuanshen’s expression was ugly to the extreme, gloomy as if it would drip water. If Kai Lan continued, there was no guarantee things wouldn’t end badly.
He heard Jiang Xuanshen say with suppressed fury, “How is that possible? He must have used some kind of trick.”
“Big Brother, what tricks could I possibly have?” A familiar voice came from above. Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue were slowly walking down the spiral staircase.
Kai Lan was more sensitive than most. The moment his gaze landed on Jiang Chenyan, he noticed something was wrong.
His face was still pale, and even his footsteps were a bit unstable, clearly not having fully recovered yet.
Kai Lan’s brows furrowed tightly as he vaguely guessed the truth.
Jiang Chenyan walked step by step in front of Jiang Xuanshen. His voice was light but very cold. “I said I am not an Omega. Do you still doubt me even now?”
Jiang Xuanshen’s lips were pressed into a tight line, his eyes swirling with hard-to-conceal hostility. However, the report in black and white was right before his eyes; the result was set in stone, and no one could change it.
Jiang Chenyan said, “I’ll send the test results to our parents in a bit. I’m going back to sleep in the dorm tonight; I won’t be staying at home… I probably won’t be back much in the future either.”
“Since you’re afraid I’ll drag down the Jiang family, I’ll try my best to have less contact with you all.”
With every word he said, Jiang Xuanshen’s expression darkened. The suppressed rage was almost overflowing. Jiang Chenyan, as if oblivious, only stopped after saying everything he wanted to say.
Shen Shiyue stepped forward, naturally standing by Jiang Chenyan’s side. “Let’s go.”
Jiang Chenyan understood, giving Kai Lan a look. The several of them turned in unison, preparing to leave.
Just as they reached the door, Jiang Xuanshen’s voice suddenly came from behind, cold as frost: “I hope you don’t regret saying these things in the future.”
Jiang Chenyan frowned. Without pausing his footsteps, he walked out without looking back.
The doctors present also sensed that something was wrong. One after another, they made excuses and hurriedly left with their equipment.
The moment they stepped onto the skiff Kai Lan was piloting, Jiang Chenyan could no longer hold on. He collapsed into the seat, his voice clearly weak: “I can’t hold on anymore. You two, please help me find a private doctor.”
Kai Lan immediately replied, “I have a villa near here. Let’s settle there first.”
“Thanks.”
After settling him in the villa, they called a doctor for an inspection, gave him injections, and applied medicine. Through all the busyness, none of them were spared the trouble.
Fortunately, by the end of it all, they finally made it through this ordeal, and the hearts that had been hanging could finally be at ease.
The next day, Jiang Chenyan’s condition had returned to normal. Sitting on the bed, he just picked up his terminal when he received a message from the school. Shen Shiyue beside him also received one; the two had received the same content.
“Admiral Celeus invites the top three teams.”
Kai Lan, who was leaning over to watch, immediately exclaimed in shock: “Impressive! This Admiral Celeus is a real big shot. Being invited by him is a huge gain!”
“Admiral Celeus…” Jiang Chenyan looked at the name in the message, his fingertips pausing. He always felt the name sounded familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere.
In the next second, the system notification sounded on time in his mind:
[Host, Admiral Celeus is one of the few top-tier powerful figures in the book. If you can build a relationship with him, it will definitely be a massive boost to your subsequent plans, perhaps even helping you take a huge leap forward.]
Jiang Chenyan nodded, his fingertips sliding quickly on the terminal to search for information on this Admiral.
He truly was no ordinary figure. This Admiral had defeated enemy forces many times and was a genuine leader. Additionally, his family strength was immense, and he had a significant say in the Alliance; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he could do whatever he wanted.
Kai Lan was envious to death. “To be personally invited by Admiral Celeus, it seems he must have followed this competition. You two better perform well after you arrive; this is a rare opportunity.”
Jiang Chenyan nodded. “Don’t worry.”
Nothing should go wrong.
Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue’s leave wasn’t long. After having lunch with Kai Lan, they rushed back to school.
Not long after returning to the dorm, Ji Xuan and the others arrived, each unable to hide their excitement. “Are we really going to meet Admiral Celeus? The school said we leave tomorrow.”
Jiang Chenyan said, “It looks like it.”
The school’s speed was quite fast.
Ji Xuan, on the side, couldn’t help but sigh with emotion, “I never dared to think in my life that I’d have the chance to see this legendary Admiral.”
Ling Yi: “Who says otherwise? How am I worthy?”
Hearing them say this, Jiang Chenyan’s interest was piqued. He was becoming more and more expectant of this Admiral Celeus.
The school’s efficiency was exceptionally high this time. After confirming the itinerary, they immediately arranged a dedicated skiff for them.
Nothing went wrong along the way; it was quite peaceful.
However, mid-journey, Jiang Chenyan suddenly remembered something. Among the top three teams invited this time, the first place was Xie Huaijin’s team, and the third place was Mu Sian’s team. Although Mu Sian’s teammates were eliminated back then, relying on his initial accumulated points and his rapid growth in the final two days, he still managed to climb up.
But on second thought, it was nothing. He was being too pessimistic; there was no need to take such small matters to heart.
The skiff finally landed steadily on the Jinchen Star. As the group walked down the hatch, they saw people in uniform uniforms waiting nearby to receive them.
“Welcome everyone,” the receptionist stepped forward.
After both sides shook hands and greeted each other, the leader led them inside, explaining the arrangements as they walked: “You will rest and reorganize at the hotel for a night. Get some good rest, and you’ll go see the Admiral tomorrow.”
The hotel arranged this time was standard rooms with two people per room. Seeing this, Jiang Chenyan immediately suggested that he and Shen Shiyue stay together.
Hearing this, Shen Shiyue was first stunned, then the corners of his mouth curved up slightly, and a trace of a smile flitted through his eyes. “Okay.”
Actually, Jiang Chenyan didn’t have other thoughts. He just felt that since he and Shen Shiyue were both Omegas and were roommates at school, it was perfectly normal to stay in the same room; he hadn’t overthought it at all.
Ji Xuan: “?”
Is he not planning to hide it anymore?
Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue carried their things into the room. After seeing the layout inside clearly, both of them were stunned. What was going on? Logically, it should have been a standard room with two beds, but before them was a single, large double bed.
Shen Shiyue was the first to react, looking at Jiang Chenyan. “How about I find the staff to change the room?”
Jiang Chenyan stared at the bed for two seconds and shook his head: “Actually, it’s fine not to change.”
As he spoke, he put his things on the bedside table and lay down directly, even reaching out to pat the mattress beside him: “Such a big bed, isn’t it?”
Shen Shiyue stopped talking. His heart jumped fiercely. No matter how he looked at it, Jiang Chenyan’s action seemed like he was inviting him… to get on him.
When Jiang Chenyan reached out to lift the quilt at the foot of the bed, he paused.
On the perfectly fine light-colored sheets, some flower petals were actually scattered. He stared at the petals, finding it strange. What did this mean? Was it to make the sheets smell more fragrant?
Jiang Chenyan wasn’t quite sure, but Shen Shiyue was very clear. He had already guessed—this was a lovers’ suite…
