Cannon Fodder O Pretending to be A Will Lose Their Vest Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Pervert, Not Even Sparing Alphas

The Alliance Military Academy used the Empire’s top-tier Star Network. How could the forum be hacked just like that? It was simply a joke.

Jiang Chenyan was too lazy to pay that person any mind, but he felt a wave of irritability. There were always flies buzzing around him. He leaned into Shen Shiyue’s ear and whispered, “Shen Shiyue, if I hack the forum, what kind of punishment will I get?”

“If it’s hacked, it’s hacked. They were the ones who started the cyberbullying first.” Jiang Chenyan’s breath brushed against his ear, bringing a slight itch. Shen Shiyue was surprisingly good at comforting people. “However, you could report it to the teachers first. Maybe they’ll handle it. If they do, there’s no need to think about hacking.”

“They won’t care.” Jiang Chenyan hooked the corner of his lip and pulled back from Shen Shiyue’s ear. “This is the Alliance Military Academy. It’s the law of the jungle.”

Jiang Chenyan was right. Whether it was the innate superiority bred into an Alpha’s bones or the structure of the military academy itself, everything reeked of hierarchy. The weak admired the strong, while everyone struggled desperately to climb higher just to be closer to the top.

He and Shen Shiyue had offended Xie Huaijin, who was at the highest level. From now on, things in this school wouldn’t be peaceful.

Jiang Chenyan joked, “Don’t you think we’re like fugitives? Forced to be tied together—we could almost make a CP.”

The moment the words left his mouth, Jiang Chenyan regretted it. Shen Shiyue was famously cold in the original novel; talking to him about “forming a CP” was a total brain-fart.

To his surprise, Shen Shiyue replied flatly: “That’s not bad.”

Jiang Chenyan froze instantly, the playfulness in his eyes not even having time to retract.

Holy shit, does the protagonist shou actually want to be a CP with me??

The System couldn’t take it anymore and jumped out to complain:

[Host, can you not be so narcissistic? Even I can’t watch this anymore.]

“You shut up. What kind of system talks as much as you? If you have time, provide some useful information.”

System: […] Retreating, retreating.

There was only one Mechanical Theory class in the morning. The content was good and the professor lectured well, but the two people in the back were constantly making snide, sarcastic remarks about Jiang Chenyan. It made him want to flip their desk several times.

As soon as the bell rang, the two prepared to leave. Jiang Chenyan’s hand had just touched his books when several shadows loomed over.

“Yo, so you’re Jiang Chenyan?”

The leader spoke with a stinging tone. Jiang Chenyan noticed at a glance that the two guys from the back row were mixed in the group. He said coldly, “Please move. We’re leaving.”

“What if we don’t?” Several people stepped forward half a pace, provocatively. “We’re Young Master Xie’s people. We’re here specifically to block you.”

“Oh.” Jiang Chenyan let out a low laugh. “So you’re Xie Huaijin’s dogs. No wonder.”

“You’re looking for death!” The leader’s hair practically stood on end as he clenched his fists.

Shen Shiyue stepped forward imperceptibly, standing by Jiang Chenyan’s side. His gaze swept over them. “The professor hasn’t left yet. Are you trying to bully us in the classroom?”

The group exchanged glances. In the end, they were wary of the professor’s presence and reluctantly cleared a path.

“We’ll teach them a lesson once they’re out.” Someone whispered a threat, which happened to reach Jiang Chenyan’s ears.

After walking a few steps out of the classroom, Jiang Chenyan tilted his head and asked Shen Shiyue with a smile, “Are you good at fighting?”

“Dealing with them? More than enough.”

Hearing this, Jiang Chenyan hooked his lip, a flash of interest in his eyes. He was a bit curious about just how good the protagonist shou was at fighting. Side by side, the two walked unhurriedly toward the exit of the teaching building.

The footsteps behind them grew closer, thudding against the corridor tiles with undisguised urgency. The two shared a look and immediately bolted, specifically picking routes with many turns and fewer students.

“Dammit, don’t let them run! Chase them!” A frustrated curse came from behind, followed by an increasingly dense sound of running feet.

On the third-floor observation deck, Mu Si’an leaned against the railing with Xie Huaijin standing beside him. The two silently watched the chase below, their gazes heavy, calculating something.

Mu Si’an suddenly let out a low laugh. He turned to Xie Huaijin and asked, “Your people?”

“Mm, quite interesting. I just dropped a casual word, and several of them rushed to show off.” He tapped his fingers lightly on the railing, then suddenly smiled. “But Qi Bai said not to play too excessively.”

Xie Huaijin leaned against the railing, a cigarette between his fingers. The light flickered. He looked down at the two fleeing figures, his eyes dark through the swirling smoke.

Below, Jiang Chenyan seemed to sense something. He suddenly looked up and happened to meet Xie Huaijin’s gaze. The moment their eyes met, the air seemed to congeal. Two sharp, undisguised edges clashed in mid-air, sparking invisible fire.

Xie Huaijin sneered. His eyes are quite fierce.

He withdrew his gaze. “Since I’m bored anyway, might as well play with them.”

Mu Si’an didn’t object. A faint, playful smile spread across his demonically handsome face. “With so many people chasing them, they look quite pathetic.”

A bit pitiful, too.

Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue ducked into a small, abandoned warehouse, slamming the mottled wooden door shut behind them.

A sneer came from outside: “This piece of junk door? I can kick it open with one foot!”

With a loud “Bang!”, the door panel shattered.

Several people rushed in, cursing. But the warehouse was pitch black, with years of dust floating in the dimness, blurring everyone’s vision.

“Where are they?!”

“Did they hide because they’re scared? Hahaha.”

The moment their eyes adjusted to the light, a figure suddenly lunged. Jiang Chenyan raised his leg and kicked the person in the front squarely in the chest. The move was fast and ruthless.

The leading Alpha groaned and crashed to the ground. Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue suddenly had clubs in their hands and swung them at the charging crowd.

To Jiang Chenyan’s surprise, Shen Shiyue’s strikes were all aimed at vital points. He downed one with every punch. The ruthlessness in his movements made one’s scalp tingle.

Jiang Chenyan parried while secretly clicking his tongue. Is this right? Can the protagonist shou fight this well?

He really wanted to ask the author: Is it reasonable for someone this strong to be ‘pressed’ in the original plot?

Someone tried a sneak attack from his diagonal rear. He was about to warn Shen Shiyue when Shen Shiyue suddenly turned, grabbed the attacker’s wrist, and twisted. A light “Crack” was followed by a heart-wrenching scream that echoed through the warehouse.

Jiang Chenyan: “…”

Four or five people already lay on the ground. The remaining ones looked at each other, not daring to move. Staring at those cold eyes—though covered in dust—not a single one dared to step forward.

An Alpha’s pheromones suddenly exploded, surging forward with intense aggression.

Jiang Chenyan’s brow furrowed. His movement was so fast it was almost invisible. He kicked the person over and stepped on the back of his neck, his strength savage. “Releasing them is useless. You’ve already been beaten like this.”

The Alpha beneath his foot trembled. His teeth chattered uncontrollably. The plan to win using pheromones had failed; Jiang Chenyan was too fast.

He really didn’t understand. The person clearly looked weak and fragile—like he would fall apart with a touch—so why was he so terrifying in a fight?

The Alphas on the ground didn’t dare move again. Only a chorus of wails remained. One person propped himself up, his voice shaking. “We were wrong… truly wrong…”

“Let us go. We won’t dare do it again…”

Jiang Chenyan let out a low laugh, but there was no warmth in his eyes. “Let you go? So you can run back to the school and say we beat you like this, and have the school expel us?”

He turned to exchange a look with Shen Shiyue. Shen Shiyue stepped forward, his voice icy. “This was merely self-defense. Expulsion isn’t likely, as they were the ones who attacked first. Furthermore,” he smiled slightly, “so many people surrounding just the two of us, only to end up being beaten like this… if this gets out, few would believe it.”

As those words fell, the people on the ground visibly shuddered.

Jiang Chenyan began to laugh. Shadows fell across his face, making his handsome features look somewhat ghostly and grim.

“Actually, it doesn’t matter if it gets out. So many of you beaten by just us two? It would be quite embarrassing to talk about.”

Hearing this, their faces turned various shades of green and white. They knew in their hearts that he had hit their weak spot. No matter how much anger or resentment they had, they had to suppress it.

“Let’s go.” Jiang Chenyan brushed the dust off his clothes, too lazy to deal with these people anymore. He looked up at Shen Shiyue.

Shen Shiyue nodded. “Mm.”

Just as the two reached the warehouse door, muffled wails came from behind, mixed with a venomous threat: “Just you wait! Young Master Xie will never let you off!”

The two didn’t stop.

“Oh. So?”

“…”

There was no “so.” The one who wailed was nearly choked to death by rage.

Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue were about to head back to the dorm when they turned a corner and bumped into Xie and Mu. The two were standing side-by-side under a tree nearby. Their figures were tall and their temperaments outstanding, forming a striking scene.

Several school leaders were conversing with them with warm, smiling faces.

Their smiles were practically splitting their faces.

Xie Huaijin’s gaze accidentally swept over Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue, and his eyes darkened instantly.

The two were completely unharmed. Not even a speck of dust clung to their clothes. They were as clean as if they had just walked out of a classroom.

Jiang Chenyan secretly grumbled about his bad luck for running into Xie Huaijin and Mu Si’an at this time.

Beside him, Shen Shiyue grabbed his wrist and whispered, “Go.”

“Mm.”

The two looked straight ahead, walking right past them as if they hadn’t seen the leaders.

The leaders’ attention was glued to Xie Huaijin and Mu Si’an; they clearly didn’t notice Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue walking by.

Mu Si’an’s eyes fell on their backs. He watched them leave, his lips slowly curling into a meaningful smile.

Interesting. This is getting more and more interesting.

He exchanged a look with Xie Huaijin, and the two found an excuse to slip away.

Mu Si’an spoke with a hint of teasing, moving slowly. “Are the people under you really that useless?”

Xie Huaijin’s face sank instantly. The air pressure around him was terrifyingly low. He gritted his teeth.

“A bunch of trash. Can’t even take down two people. I’ll settle accounts with them later.”

“Don’t be angry.” Mu Si’an’s lips hooked into a playful smile, his eyes shining with interest. “If the prey has the ability to resist, playing becomes much more interesting, doesn’t it?”

Pervert. Not even sparing Alphas.

Xie Huaijin cursed inwardly. He knew Mu Si’an was always like this.

The more rebellious and untamable something was, the more he felt a paranoid desire for possession—wanting to grind down the other party’s edges bit by bit before he was satisfied.

Translator’s Note: “CP” stands for “Couple Pairing,” which is widely used in Chinese fandom culture. Also, “Law of the Jungle” (ruò ròu qiĂĄng shĂ) literally translates to “the weak are meat, the strong eat.” Jiang Chenyan is realizing that in this world, being a “cannon fodder” means you’re on the menu unless you bite back!
