Chapter 93: Make You Call Me Brother (13)
Xiao Ji always knew how to show weakness in front of Gu Yinnian.
Having his cheek pinched, he leaned into Gu Yinnian naturally.
“I didn’t add him.”
Gu Yinnian enjoyed this sudden intimacy after their long separation. Although he was still annoyed, he couldn’t bear to push Xiao Ji away.
“I saw it with my own eyes.”
Xiao Ji pressed against him, breathing in the faint scent of Gu Yinnian’s pheromones at such close range.
“You added him. I didn’t.”
Gu Yinnian paused. Just as he was about to ask what Xiao Ji meant, he realized something. He pulled his phone from his pocket, unlocked it, and checked. Sure enough, half an hour ago, he had accepted a friend request.
Contact name: [Photography Club An Jing].
Gu Yinnian felt instantly relieved, though he clicked his tongue outwardly.
“I’m not stopping you from making friends. What does it look like using my phone to add people?”
Xiao Ji’s answer was the same as it had been long ago:
“You don’t like it.”
Gu Yinnian felt Xiao Ji’s hair brushing against his neck—furry, soft.
He suddenly laughed. “I don’t. You’re the one who doesn’t want to deal with people; don’t pin that on me.”
Xiao Ji didn’t argue about who was more unwilling. He simply offered an explanation:
“I thought you’d be interested in that club.”
Gu Yinnian understood what Xiao Ji meant. However, he was still using the camera his father gave him two years ago. It was fine for an amateur, but compared to the professionals in that crowd, it was clearly lacking.
He thought for a moment. “My equipment might not be up to par.”
Xiao Ji rubbed the top of his head against Gu Yinnian’s neck, sounding sleepy.
“If you want to go, just go. Don’t think too much.”
Gu Yinnian checked the time. The dorms would close in an hour.
He missed Xiao Ji terribly. Especially now, with Xiao Ji leaning obediently on his shoulder, he wished he could sit on this bench all night.
But he had military training tomorrow, and he had to give the freshman speech.
So, after sitting quietly with Xiao Ji for another twenty minutes, he forced himself to speak.
“Let’s go back. Sleep early. Tomorrow morning I…”
He wanted to say he’d call Xiao Ji when he woke up.
Then he remembered that since childhood, Xiao Ji was always the one who woke up first and called him. He corrected himself:
“I probably won’t be able to get up tomorrow morning. Call me at six.”
Xiao Ji said okay, stood up, and extended a hand to Gu Yinnian.
Two hands wearing matching rings clasped together. Gu Yinnian pulled himself up and did something he had wanted to do the moment he saw Xiao Ji today.
He reached out and hugged Xiao Ji’s waist.
“Sturdier than before you left.”
Xiao Ji raised an eyebrow but allowed the contact.
They parted ways at the gates of the two dorm areas. Gu Yinnian watched Xiao Ji go upstairs before turning back to his own dorm.
As soon as he entered, Lin Mo looked at him with a grin, ready for gossip.
“Well? Made up?”
Gu Yinnian looked to be in a good mood. He nodded. “I said I didn’t know him this afternoon, so he was sulking.”
Lin Mo sighed. “Must be nice. Some people go four years without finding a partner, and some bring their partner to school with them. Envious.”
Gu Yinnian slapped the back of his neck lightly.
“Stop talking nonsense. Partner? I’m his brother.”
Lin Mo paused. “Cousin? Distant relative?”
Gu Yinnian changed his clothes as he spoke.
“Neither. My mom and his mom were best friends. His parents passed away early, so he grew up in my house.”
This conversation didn’t stir much in Gu Yinnian at the time.
But strangely, after he showered and lay in bed, the aftertaste of those words began to surface.
Gu Yinnian’s dominance stemmed from the sense of ownership and possessiveness he had felt toward Xiao Ji since childhood.
He had always regarded Xiao Ji as a brother in name, but a private possession in reality.
Dating was a concept too foreign to Gu Yinnian.
He had never felt any romantic attraction toward any Omega or Beta; in fact, he found it troublesome.
Because Xiao Ji was antisocial.
Gu Yinnian didn’t like Xiao Ji interacting with others, but deep down, he knew Xiao Ji also didn’t like him interacting too much with others.
Xiao Ji never said it, but when they were little, if Gu Yinnian talked to other kids too much, Xiao Ji would stand in a corner, watching him with those pitiful eyes.
Gu Yinnian would never neglect Xiao Ji for anyone.
Omegas were clingy, fragile creatures.
They needed coaxing, company, and meticulous care from their Alpha.
If Gu Yinnian started dating, he couldn’t imagine how pitiful Xiao Ji would look, standing silently in that corner watching him.
But he hadn’t thought about replacing that romantic partner with Xiao Ji either.
Because Xiao Ji hadn’t differentiated yet.
His glands were fragile.
Gu Yinnian just wanted to watch Xiao Ji grow up safely and differentiate in good health.
He had always hoped Xiao Ji would be an Omega.
Not because he had designs on Xiao Ji, but because the doctor had said that if Xiao Ji were an Omega, as long as their pheromones didn’t repel each other, living together wouldn’t be an issue.
But here was the problem.
If Xiao Ji differentiated into an Omega, why would he live with Gu Yinnian?
It was only at this moment that Gu Yinnian realized the severity of the issue.
He began to lose clarity on what exactly his feelings for Xiao Ji were.
Xiao Ji knew that as an adult, Gu Yinnian’s mindset would inevitably change after such a reunion.
As for what Gu Yinnian was thinking or when he would have his epiphany, Xiao Ji wasn’t worried or rushed.
His only concern was his secondary gender.
Gu Yinnian cared a lot about his gender.
But he was destined to differentiate into an Alpha.
He was hesitating: whether he used the boiling frog method or forced the issue, even if he could manipulate Gu Yinnian into accepting the fact that he was an Alpha, how would he solve the pheromone repulsion?
After a night of silence, Xiao Ji finally lay on his bed and let out a soft sigh.
Song Zhi, who had been drifting off to sleep in the quiet room, suddenly heard the sigh and snapped his eyes open.
“What’s wrong?”
No response.
Just as Song Zhi thought he wouldn’t get an answer, Xiao Ji suddenly spoke:
“Do you know how Alphas with repelling pheromones can date?”
