Chapter 76: Calling Gege
Chen Qisheng felt like he was sitting on pins and needles.
He didn’t understand how things had inexplicably turned into the current situation.
At the round table in the lounge bar, the four of them sat at each ‘corner’, forming a beautiful equilibrium. Except, Chen Qisheng was sitting directly across from Lu Ciheng. Without even needing to look up, he could feel the gaze landing on his bodyâa stare so intense it felt like it could repeatedly burn a hole through paper.
It wasn’t very friendly, carrying an inexplicable hostility.
Are the eyes of his boss’s marriage partner always this fierce?
Chen Qisheng finally reacted. That look… was treating him as a love rival, right? But he hadn’t done anything. Why was he acting like a dog guarding its food?
Although the stare was very oppressive, Chen Qisheng glanced at the Xie Shibai Tongbao held in his arms.
…
Things had just gotten even weirder!
With his arms crossed, Lu Ciheng stared expressionlessly at Chen Qisheng. When he wasn’t smiling, his face looked exceptionally cold. His dark eyes stared unblinkingly at the man, exuding a fierce aura from the inside out, full of icy hostility.
The scene from earlier kept replaying in Lu Ciheng’s mind.
Tch, he touched Xie Shibai’s hand. Lu Ciheng stared at Chen Qisheng for a few seconds, then extended a hand politely. “How should I address you? My surname is Lu.”
Chen Qisheng returned the handshake. “Chen Qisheng.”
This was the first time Lu Ciheng matched the name to a face. Previously, he had only heard the name when Xie Shibai took phone calls.
He got to call Xie Shibai every day.
Chen Qisheng had no interest in becoming a part of someone else’s emotional drama. Seeing that the situation was roughly settled, he decided to slip away.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving first.”
Lu Ciheng’s mood improved a bit. “When you get back to the country, I’ll buy you a drink.”
After the two finished exchanging pleasantries and Chen Qisheng left, Xie Shibai glanced at the bag in Lu Ciheng’s arms. Being closer, he could see it much more clearly. Many of the badges on the bag were photos of him, along with laser cards sparkling under the lights. It looked flashy and gaudy, yet Lu Ciheng held onto it like it was a treasure he couldn’t bear to let go of. He fell into a moment of silence.
Lu Ciheng hasn’t unlocked some new attribute again, has he?
Very soon, Xie Shibai didn’t have time to focus on the Tongbao. A gaze had been carefully, yet expectantly, watching him the whole time.
Lu Lecheng’s puppy eyesâidentical to Lu Ciheng’sâstared brightly at Xie Shibai. She was even more excited and nervous than the first time she had paid a fansite photographer to take her to squat outside a film set to see Xie Shibai.
A one-on-one with Xie Shibai!
“Ge, cough cough… Hello, Xie Ge!” Lu Lecheng immediately introduced herself. “My name is Lu Lecheng, you can call me Lele.”
Xie Shibai looked at her for a few seconds. An image of a cute Maltese puppy deliberately flashed through his mind, inexplicably bearing a striking resemblance to the girl in front of him. Those bright puppy eyes, although looking similarly passionate, were different from Lu Ciheng’s terrifying fanaticism.
One was a Great Demon King Beagle with a fanatic gaze that looked ready to devour someone whole, while the other was an innocent, snow-white, and cute small Maltese.
Does everyone in the Lu family have these puppy eyes…?
Strictly speaking, this was Xie Shibai’s first time interacting with Lu Ciheng’s family. He still remembered what Lu Ciheng had mentioned during their agreement; the contract marriage was also to deal with his family.
Although he wasn’t quite used to being addressed as ‘sister-in-law’, Xie Shibai went along with it and said, “Hello, my name is Xie Shibai.”
Lu Lecheng immediately nodded her head like a chick pecking at rice. As a veteran Xie Shibai fan, at this moment, Lu Lecheng felt that she didn’t possess the surname Lu. She belonged to the faction of the ‘bride’s family’ fans!
“I know, I know! Xie Ge, I super like you!” Lu Lecheng babbled on. “I’ve watched your debut movie over a dozen times, it’s really, really good! Could you give me an autograph?”
Xie Shibai was a bit surprised but very accustomed to this process. When rushing to schedules, he would meet many fans doing airport pick-ups and often needed to sign autographs.
“Sure.”
Lu Lecheng was so happy she wanted to scream on the spot. She tried hard to hold it in, gave a light cough to make herself look very reserved, and reached out to grab her Tongbao.
Xie Shibai followed her gaze, and his attention once again fell on the Tongbao. It was really hard not to notice. Under the transparent cover were nothing but photos of himâclose-up shots cropped from various interactions and movie scenes.
Did a girl who looked like a Maltese puppy really cross the streets wearing a bag like this?
Coupled with Lu Ciheng’s behavior of framing their marriage certificate, it suddenly wasn’t all that surprising.
While having to maintain her image in front of her idol, Lu Lecheng gritted her teeth in anger at her biological brother. “We just agreed, give it back!”
Lu Ciheng’s stare at Chen Qisheng was interrupted. He took a few Baji pins and said, “Give these few to me. You can buy them again, I’ll pay for it.”
Xie Shibai’s eyes shifted slightly, his expression carrying a faint trace of lifelessness.
He actually really wanted one of these.
Lu Lecheng’s action of snatching the bag paused. Her mind instantly listed out many Baji she had wanted to collect but had to tearfully pass on due to insufficient allowance. Her round eyes darted around. “Any amount of money is fine?”
Lu Ciheng gave an “Mm”. “Pick whatever you want.”
Lu Lecheng was overjoyed. She stopped obsessing over snatching the bag back and simply took out her frequently used notebook and pen, handing them to Xie Shibai.
The moment the notebook and pen were handed over, Lu Ciheng intercepted them, snatching them away.
Lu Lecheng: ?
“What are you doing? I can’t even get an autograph?”
Lu Ciheng said mildly, “Teacher Xie only accepts things handed to him by me.”
Lu Lecheng: “…”
This Mengnan has gone insane!
Xie Shibai: “…”
He proactively took the notebook and pen, signing his name. “Done.”
Lu Lecheng held the notebook like it was an imperial decree, so excited she wished she could run two laps outside. “Xie Ge, you’re so nice!”
Xie Shibai’s eyelashes trembled slightly as he noticed the back of Lu Lecheng’s head.
Also a round head.
Lu Lecheng had classes and couldn’t stay long, but she was still reluctant to leave. She dawdled for a long time before asking if she could add Xie Shibai’s contact info.
The Maltese’s cautious appearance was truly amusing. Xie Shibai curled his lips and agreed, adding Lu Lecheng as a friend before waving goodbye.
After returning to the cottage, Lu Ciheng’s gaze kept sweeping over the hand Xie Shibai had used to receive the flash drive. His dark eyes were filled with deep concern, and he spent a long time stewing in his own jealousy.
But the wicked Great Demon King Beagle would think of every possible way to overwrite those touches using his own methods.
Xie Shibai placed the file envelope on the coffee table and went to take a shower. After Lu Ciheng wiped Tudou the puppy’s paws clean, he stood to the side, radiating sour jealousy.
Tudou the puppy looked left and right, and seeing that no one was paying attention to it, wandered around playing. It bumped into the long string of the file envelope on the coffee table, bit down on it, and gave it a tug downward.
Clatter. The file envelope scattered all over the floor.
While helping to gather the documents from the envelope, Lu Ciheng froze as he saw a familiar name.
On the next page was a childhood photo of him and Xie Shibai.
Lu Ciheng’s dark eyes burned passionately.
Xie Shibai definitely remembered.
When Xie Shibai came out after drying his hair, he immediately met Lu Ciheng’s dark, shining eyes. Then he saw the file envelope in his hands and instantly understood.
Lu Ciheng’s non-existent tail started wagging. “Teacher Xie, do you remember?”
Xie Shibai pursed his lips slightly. “No.”
His memories were rather chaotic. In truth, he had remembered quite a bit, but it was disjointed. He needed more anchor points to connect them.
Regret appeared on Lu Ciheng’s face, but he quickly adjusted. “I’ll help Teacher Xie recall.”
Xie Shibai: “…”
“Suit yourself.”
As long as he doesn’t wear that bag completely covered in badges.
For the whole night, Lu Ciheng was highly pumped up over this. From time to time, he would ask if Xie Shibai remembered things from their childhood, like Xie Shibai promising to be his wife, and other highly unbelievable claims.
While Xie Shibai was feeding canned food to Tudou the puppy, Lu Ciheng’s dark eyes stared unblinkingly at him. The jealousy that had flared up because of Chen Qisheng wasn’t offset by the recovered childhood memories. Instead, because of this, Lu Ciheng’s possessiveness was fueled even further.
The gaze beside him was simply too scorching. Even if Xie Shibai wanted to ignore it, he couldn’t. He cast a sideways glance at Lu Ciheng. “What is it?”
Lu Ciheng reached out and hooked his finger around Xie Shibai’s, his lightly calloused fingers gently grinding against his knuckles. He suddenly asked, “Teacher Xie, what percentage of physical contact can you accept with other people now?”
Xie Shibai paused and recalled for a few seconds, realizing it was only a simple handshake.
Over this long period of treatment, the amount of contact he could accept had only gradually increased with Lu Ciheng. With anyone else, it was at most a polite handshake.
“Handshakes.”
Lu Ciheng’s dark eyes grew dim. He rested his forehead against Xie Shibai’s shoulder and whispered, “Then let’s continue our treatment. It’s all my fault. After so long, I still haven’t successfully helped Teacher Xie desensitize.”
Xie Shibai was bewildered for a few seconds. Just as he turned his head and was about to speak, a wet lick landed on his lips.
Although it was framed as a question, Lu Ciheng left almost no time for Xie Shibai to answer. Driven by his long-suppressed possessiveness, he couldn’t hold back any longer. Almost immediately after asking, he kissed the lips that had been swaying in his line of sight.
Xie Shibai’s lips were very full. The pale color turned slightly red under the forceful grinding, soft and plump like a sweet fruit. Before the soft lips could close, they were easily breached. A soft red tip of a tongue hooked around his and sucked. Like a puppy, Lu Ciheng wetly licked every inch of his mouth, consuming his sweet saliva.
A massive wave of Lu Ciheng’s scent instantly crashed into Xie Shibai’s nasal cavity. Scorching breaths spilled over his cheeks as their two high noses rubbed against each other, their breathing tangling and mixing.
His eyelashes trembled slightly. The scorching breath was simply too overwhelming. The soft, red tip of his tongue was forcefully sucked and kissed a few times, letting out sticky, wet smacking sounds. His body had already uncontrollably drawn out a craving for more contact.
The devouring and aggressive impact was too strong. Just as Xie Shibai showed intent to pull back, a large palm pressed against the back of his head, forcing him even closer.
If this was for their daily desensitization treatment, was it really necessary to kiss like this?
Xie Shibai’s eyelashes fluttered lightly. On the verge of being consumed by the scorching breath and kisses, his touch-starved body instead radiated comfort, making him lazily sink into it as if basking in the afternoon sun.
Unable to keep track of time, Xie Shibai was still somewhat dazed when he sank into the soft mattress. Lu Ciheng supported his body, the distance between them turning even more scorching and ambiguous.
A large hand pressed against his waist through his clothes. The hot, comfortable sensation spread through his body, turning his bones to jelly, stripping away all right to resist like a frog boiled in warm water.
The wetly tangled lips and tongues parted briefly. Lu Ciheng’s thumb rubbed against Xie Shibai’s slightly red lower lip. His dark eyes stared fixedly, his thin lips pressing close to clingingly rub and peck, his voice husky. “Teacher Xie, you drank alcohol.”
Xie Shibai dodged the approaching kiss, his rosy lips parting slightly to pant for air. He gave a soft “Mm”, his voice somewhat sticky and soft.
Lu Ciheng’s nose brushed against Xie Shibai’s cheek, his dark eyes blazing with intense emotion. “Teacher Xie, you’re hiding again. You clearly never hid from me when we were little.”
Xie Shibai’s face tickled from the rubbing. He thought to himself that the things from their childhood had long been forgotten.
Lu Ciheng kissed Xie Shibai’s cheek again, his husky tone carrying a vaguely scheming, fabricated lie. “You also used to call me Gege often in the past.”
Xie Shibai’s eyelashes trembled, his cold eyes somewhat bewildered.
Lu Ciheng licked his lips, his dark eyes filled with fanaticism. Pecking at his cheek, he huskily coaxed, “Teacher Xie, can you call me that one more time?”
