Disobedient? Forced Love in the Little Black Room—Don’t Even Think About Running, Baby Chapter 40

Chapter 40: Thanking Me With Just One Sentence?

As dusk approached, Gu Xinglan arrived at the hospital room.

“You got off work this early?” Qin Wan was a little surprised.

Weren’t busy, domineering CEOs like him supposed to work 24/7 without a break?

Why did Gu Xinglan seem so free?

“Mn. Are your wounds feeling any better today?” Gu Xinglan sat in the chair beside the bed, staring at Qin Wan’s face as he asked.

Qin Wan nodded. “They are superficial wounds, they’ll heal very quickly.”

“I was already able to sit up and walk around today.”

“Good.” Gu Xinglan’s expression was very mild; he looked to be in a good mood.

Qin Wan hesitated for a moment, but eventually mustered the courage to speak up.

Gege, you said I could go see Rong Yi…” he said quietly, cautiously observing the other man’s face.

Even though he knew it was nearly impossible to read anything from Gu Xinglan’s expression.

“Mn, you can.”

Qin Wan’s eyes lit up. “Then since I can walk around now, could you take me over there in a bit?”

Gu Xinglan pressed his lips together slightly.

Without answering immediately, he pressed the call bell and summoned the Dean.

“With his current physical condition, can he go out and move around?”

The Dean nodded quickly. “Yes, he can. Mr. Qin’s wounds are healing very well, and there are no signs of infection.”

“The wounds are primarily concentrated on his upper torso; the cuts on his legs are few and shallow. So getting up and walking around a bit shouldn’t be a major issue.”

Only then did Gu Xinglan nod.

“I’m going to the top floor to visit a patient. Make the arrangements,” he ordered.

The Dean naturally knew exactly who the CEO was referring to and immediately left the room to head upstairs and arrange things.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you over,” Gu Xinglan said.

A bright smile immediately bloomed on Qin Wan’s small face. “Thank you, Gege!”

The corner of Gu Xinglan’s eyebrow twitched upward. “Thanking me with just one sentence?”

Qin Wan: Uh, should I add another sentence then?

Gu Xinglan stared at him, a half-smile lingering in the depths of his eyes.

Qin Wan instantly understood what this man wanted.

He leaned closer to him.

Tilting his face up slightly, he gently pressed his lips against Gu Xinglan’s.

“How about this, Gege?”

Those cunning, beautiful fox eyes held a trace of a gentle smile.

Gu Xinglan pressed his luck. “Not enough.”

Qin Wan’s face flushed a soft red.

This guy in front of him was entirely too used to exploiting situations for his own benefit.

But to secure a chance to see Rong Yi, he had no choice but to endure it, trying his best to act obedient and make him happy.

Qin Wan reached out and wrapped his arms around Gu Xinglan’s shoulders.

His lips pressed forward again.

This time, using a bit more force than before, he pecked and nibbled.

A smile curved the corners of Gu Xinglan’s lips.

Whenever Qin Wan proactively kissed him, he always had the fleeting illusion that the boy was going to eat him alive.

His large hand firmly grasped Qin Wan’s soft waist, taking the lead as he helplessly, yet very patiently, corrected the boy’s technique.

The deep kiss lasted for a while.

Because he was worried about aggravating the wounds on Qin Wan’s body, Gu Xinglan didn’t dare make any rough movements or entangle with him for too long.

After lightly biting the tip of his tongue, he let him go.

Looking at the boy whose small face was now completely flushed red, Gu Xinglan narrowed his eyes in satisfaction.

He took Qin Wan’s hand. “Let’s go, I’ll take you there.”

The dizzy, thoroughly kissed little person finally snapped back to reality. He quickly rubbed his face and followed Gu Xinglan eagerly out the ward’s door.

Rong Yi‘s room wasn’t on this floor.

Gu Xinglan took him in the elevator to the top floor.

The Dean, along with the head doctors and nurses, were already waiting by the elevator doors.

Gu Zong, Mr. Qin, this way please.”

Qin Wan looked left and right.

This floor was also comprised of high-end special care wards, but the environment was even quieter and more secluded than the floor he was staying on.

“You can just look from the outside,” Gu Xinglan said.

Qin Wan stopped in his tracks, probing cautiously: “Gege, can’t I go in and say a few words to Rong Yi?”

Gu Xinglan turned his head and looked at him. “Looking the way you do right now, wouldn’t seeing you only make her worry more?”

Hearing this, Qin Wan nodded.

Indeed, he had overlooked that detail.

Walking to the door of a hospital room, Gu Xinglan stopped.

“Right here.”

The two plainclothes bodyguards sitting on the bench outside the room immediately stood up and bowed upon seeing Gu Xinglan.

Qin Wan quickly ran to the door, peering inside through the small glass window.

On the hospital bed, Rong Yi was sitting up, leaning against the headboard.

She held knitting needles in her hands, a large ball of red yarn resting beside her.

Stitch by stitch, she was earnestly knitting a sweater.

She had already knitted a large section, and the beautiful pattern on it was clearly visible.

Sitting in the chair next to her was a female caregiver in her thirties. It seemed the two got along quite well and were currently chatting.

While gesturing over the half-finished sweater in her hands, Rong Yi spoke to the caregiver with a beaming smile.

Qin Wan could guess exactly what she was talking about. She was definitely telling the woman who the sweater was for, and what a beautiful, filial child he was.

Because back when Rong Yi was in the general ward, she had enthusiastically chatted to nearly all her fellow patients about how she had an exceptionally, incredibly wonderful son.

Not her biological son, but closer to her than one ever could be.

Watching this, Qin Wan felt a sharp ache in his nose, and his eyes grew red.

Gege, how has Rong Yi‘s health been these past few days?” he asked with a sniffle.

Gu Xinglan shifted his gaze to the Dean.

The Dean immediately had the doctor give a report.

Upon learning that Rong Yi‘s condition was very stable, Qin Wan finally let out a small sigh of relief.

He stood at the door and watched for quite a while longer.

It wasn’t until Gu Xinglan took his hand and said, “Let’s go,” that Qin Wan reluctantly turned away, looking back over his shoulder with every step he took.

Back in his room, Qin Wan requested to make a phone call to Rong Yi.

After all, the last time he called, he had told her he was going out of town for a week.

If too much time passed without any news, Rong Yi would definitely be very worried.

Gu Xinglan agreed and handed over his own phone.

Qin Wan thought for a second and asked, “I called Rong Yi the other day, but her phone was off. Is her phone…”

Gu Xinglan smiled faintly. “Her phone is perfectly fine. It’s just that I had someone block all incoming signals to her phone except for this number. That’s why your calls couldn’t go through.”

Qin Wan’s eyelids lowered slightly.

Gu Xinglan’s methods were, as always, utterly dictatorial.

Qin Wan collected his emotions and dialed the number.

Rong Yi, it’s Xiao Wan.”

When the extremely excited voice of Rong Yi came through the receiver, Qin Wan’s eyes instantly reddened again.

“Xiao Wan! Why has your phone been turned off every time I called you these past few days? Rong Yi was so worried about you!”

“A few days ago, some people said they were your friends and moved me over here to St. Ann Hospital.”

Qin Wan quickly explained.

Rong Yi, for the job over there, we have to turn in our phones. Don’t worry, I’m doing really well.”

“That friend is someone I just met. He’s very enthusiastic and works in the medical system. He said the facilities at St. Ann are much better and was willing to help out.”

“You just focus on resting and getting better, don’t overthink things, and don’t worry about me.”

He tried his absolute best to suppress the tremble in his voice as he spoke.

“Xiao Wan, what kind of work is it? Is it exhausting? If it’s too tiring, then don’t do it! Rong Yi is terrified you’ll overwork yourself!”

Zhou Rong’s voice was full of tender affection and heartache.

Qin Wan pressed his lips tightly together. “It’s not tiring, don’t worry! It’s just that I can’t make phone calls very often. Also, I might… need to keep working for a while longer, so I won’t be able to come back just yet.”

Zhou Rong frowned. “How much longer until you can come back?”

The light in Qin Wan’s eyes dimmed. “Mn, it’s hard to say right now… it depends on the progress!”

Rong Yi, just focus on resting and getting well. You don’t have to worry about any of the hospital expenses!”

“Xiao Wan, the fees here must be incredibly high, right? Maybe I should just get discharged…”

Qin Wan immediately stopped her. “Rong Yi, don’t think about anything else, just focus on recovering.”

“Once I’m done with things on this end, I will definitely come back to see you right away.”

Qin Wan’s nose tingled painfully, and he could no longer hold back the tears threatening to fall.

“I have to go now, you make sure to take good care of yourself!”

“Xiao Wan, make sure you take care of your own health too!” It was obvious that as she said this, Rong Yi was crying.

Qin Wan couldn’t speak any further and hung up the phone.

He let out a deep sigh.

Gu Xinglan sat quietly beside him, waiting.

Qin Wan handed the phone back.

Gu Xinglan looked at his still red-rimmed eyes and his downcast little face.

He pulled the person into his embrace.

He remained silent for a moment.

“Qin Wan, if you are obedient, I can consider having Zhou Rong’s illness completely cured.”
